Mr. Charles Andrews
CHARLOTTE - Mr. Charles Frank Andrews, 65, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital. He was formerly of the Burlington and Graham areas.
Born Sept. 18, 1932, in High Point, he was the husband of Mrs. Nellie Isley Andrews, who survives, and the son of Mr. Charlie Benton and Mrs. Vallie Elledge Andrews, both deceased. He was a graduate of Alexander Wilson High School in Graham. He had served in the U.S. Coast Guard and served as a city fireman from 1953 to 1986 with the city of Charlotte at Station No. 17 at the airport. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he was a member of the Archers Sunday School Class and had served as a deacon and choir member and served on the Child Development Committee.
Survivors other than his wife include three daughters, Mrs. Randy (Terri) Blanton of Belmont, Ms. Gay Gardner and Ms. Bonnie Andrews, both of Charlotte; a son, Mr. Dennis Frank Andrews of Sharpsburg, Ga.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Woodlawn Baptist Church by the Rev. Earl Pennelu, the Rev. Ed Stine and the Rev. Bill Wallace. Burial will be in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers will be firemen from the Charlotte City Fire Department. Pallbearers will be men of the church.

Mrs. Minnie C. Ritter
GRAHAM - Mrs. Minnie Etta Cook Ritter, 81, of 2402 Rogers Court, died at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at her home after two years of failing health, two days critical. She was formerly of 213 Washington St.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. James Luther Ritter, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Jim Cook and Mrs. Betty Allen Cook, both deceased. She was a retired hosiery employee and was a member of Nall Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include four daughters, Mrs. Junior (Edna) Morris of Burlington, Mrs. William O. (Rachel) Brooks of High Point, Mrs. Don (Betty) Greeson of Roxboro and Mrs. Raymond (Shirley) Boaze of Graham; two sons, Mr. Franklin Ritter of Dayton, Ohio., and Mr. Jimmy Ritter of Graham; a brother, Mr. James Cook Jr. of Mebane; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-step grandchildren; and one great-great-step grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Wade Cox, pastor of Nall Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Emon S. Suitts
CORONA, Calif. - Mrs. Emon Louise Sharpe Suitts, 82, of Corona, Calif., died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, in Corona after several years of failing health.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Ivan Garland 'Ping' Suitts, and the daughter of Mr. Leonard J. Sharpe and Mrs. Flora Gregory Sharpe, both deceased. She was retired from the Daily Times-News and was a member of Mount Zion Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Doris Waldrop Agnew of Gibsonville; a son, Mr. Benny Waldrop of Corona; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Sharpe May of Burlington, Mrs. Joann Sharpe Rogers of Marble, and Mrs. Gladys Sharpe Raxter and Mrs. Mildred Sharpe Raxter, both of Andrews; a brother, Mr. Eugene Sharpe of Andrews; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Judy W. Rice and Miss Sandra Faye Waldrop; and a son, Mr. Garland Lee Suitts.

GRAHAM - Mrs. Mae Thompson of 6635 N.C. 87 South, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Mr. Charles S. Nall Sr.
STAR - Mr. Charles Scarboro Nall Sr., 86, of 208 King St., died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at his home.
A native of Star, he was the husband for 59 years to Mrs. Almeda Thomas Nall, who survives. He was the owner of Nall's Sewing Center and was a member of First Baptist Church, Star.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Ms. June Carol Satterfield of Burlington and Ms. Dorothy Ann Nall of Star; a son, Mr. Charles S. Nall Jr. of Sanford; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Star, by the Rev. Nelson Chambers and the Rev. David Kime. Burial will be in Leach Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorothy B. Slade
ALTAMAHAW - Mrs. Dorothy Boswell Slade, 80, of 3070 Minor Road, died at 6:08 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at Skilled Nursing Division of Alamance Regional Medical Center after a critical illness of several weeks.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Nathaniel Slade and the daughter of Mr. James Boswell and Mrs. Mary Russell Boswell, both deceased. She was a member of Clover Garden AME Church, where she was past president of the usher board, member of the Senior Choir, member of the Pastor's Aid Club, class leader, a steward and a stewardess.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sheila Slade Rone of the home; two foster daughters, Mrs. Barbara Ann Jones of Burlington and Miss June Carolyn Slade of Greensboro; a foster son, Capt. William Cramer Slade of Fort Hood, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Nathaniel Dale Slade; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Yowes; and a brother, Mr. Thomas Boswell.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at Clover Garden AME Church by the Rev. Frank Saunders, pastor, and the Rev. R.L. Goode. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Eunice H. Rogers
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Eunice Morgan Haith Rogers of 227 Foster St., died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at the Hospice Home after a long illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Frank Rogers, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Peter T. Morgan and Mrs. Eliza Cooper Morgan, both deceased. She was a retired domestic. She was a member of Deep Creek Primitive Baptist Church, where she was mother of the church and church treasurer.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include two sons, Mr. Malcolm S. Haith and Mr. Hunter G. Haith, both of Greensboro; a daughter, Mrs. Vondra H. Jones of Burlington; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at Visitor's Chapel United Church of Christ by the Rev. Terry Jones, pastor, and Elder Floyd Haith. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in Deep Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Lawrence Faulkner
SNOW CAMP - Mr. Lawrence F. Faulkner, 81, of 6760 Coble Mill Road, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, June 29, 1998, at Alamance Health Care Center after a long illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Allene M. Faulkner, who survives, and the son of Mr. Willie George Faulkner and Mrs. Roxie Long Faulkner, both deceased. He was a retired foremen of Liberty Hosiery Mill. He was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school for several years and was a member of the United Methodist Men.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Wally (Donna) F. Culbreth of Greensboro; three sons, Mr. Glenwood Faulkner of Snow Camp, Mr. Bobby Faulkner of Winston-Salem and Mr. Harold Faulkner of Thomasville; three sisters, Mrs. Violet Albright and Mrs. Yvonne Lassiter, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Ava Taylor of Graham; five brothers, Mr. Donald Faulkner, Mr. Elmo Faulkner and Mr. H.W. Faulkner, all of Burlington, Mr. Earl Faulkner of Graham and Mr. Dace Faulkner of Haw River; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Lillian Carey.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rock Creek United Methodist Church by the Rev. Nancy Sturdivant, pastor, and the Rev. Alvin Horne, pastor of Friendship United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Carney Hutchison
HAMPTON, Va. - Mr. Carney Hutchison, of 721 Kenwood Drive, died Saturday, June 27, 1998. He was formerly of Orlando, Fla., and Burlington and had been a resident of Hampton for three years.
He was the son of Mr. LeRoy Hutchison Sr., and Mrs. Ida Mae Hutchison, both deceased. He was educated in the Clarksville, Tenn., schools and graduated at age 15. He attended Clark College in Atlanta. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a former U.S. postal worker.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. CoCintheane "CoCo" Hutchison of Hampton; a son, Mr. Adannis "Donnie" Hutchison of Hampton; a sister, Ms. Josephine Reese of Clarksville; three brothers, Mr. LeRoy Hutchison Jr. of Spring Lake, and Mr. Joseph Hutchison and Mr. Owen Childs Jr., both of Clarksville; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Chapel in Hampton.
The family will be at 42 Eagles Landing, Hampton.

Dr. G. Harold Myers
LEXINGTON - Dr. G. Harold Myers, 74, of Greensboro Street Extension, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 31, 1923, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the husband of Mrs. Aileen Lipe Myers, who survives, and the son of Mr. George R. Myers and Mrs. Maude Lighter Myers, both deceased. He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, Catawba College, Salisbury, with a bachelor of arts degree, and Lancaster Theological Seminary in Lancaster, Pa., with a master divinity degree. He was in clinical pastoral training at N.C. Baptist Hospital and received an honorary doctor of divinity from Catawba College. He was ordained in Hagerston in 1947.
He was pastor in churches in China Grove and Thomasville. He organized missions in Kannapolis, Raleigh and at Edgewood United Church of Christ in Burlington from 1959 to 1965. He was pastor emeritus at a church in China Grove and interim pastor for churches in Lexington, Thomasville and Enochville. Before retiring in 1988, he served for 20 years as camp director and recreation leader in the Southern Conference Camps and Conferences. He was chairman of various commissions in the conference and associations. He was a delegate to the General Synod six times, vice president of the Southern Conference and past president of the Western N.C. Association.
He was a member of the Board of Managers of the Nazareth Children's Home for 16 years and a member of the Board of Trustees at Catawba College for 12 years. He was a member of Paul's Chapel United Church of Christ where he was an elder and Sunday school teacher.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Ms. Susan Myers Jarrell of Trinity and Dr. Julia Myers O'Brien of Lancaster; two sons, the Rev. Phillip Myers of Burlington and Mr. Stephen Myers of Lexington; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion United Church of Christ in China Grove by Dr. Rollin Russell and the Rev. Jimmy Norred. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mount Zion Section, China Grove.

Mrs. Luvenia Hamlett
GRAHAM - Mrs. Luvenia Chambers "Ben" Hamlett, 68, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
Born July 19, 1929, in Person County, she was the wife of Mr. Wendell Hamlett, who survives, and the daughter of Mrs. Lillie Fuller Chambers, who survives, and the late Mr. Thomas Chambers. She attended Orange County Schools and worked for JOCCA in the Cedar Grove Recreation Department as a cook. She was a member of Warren's Chapel Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors other than her husband of the Brian Center in Durham and mother of Green Level, include four daughters, Ms. Esther C. Allison of Pleasant Grove, Ms. Barbara C. Walker of Green Level and Ms. Erma J. Chambers and Ms. Marcella E. Chambers, both of Graham; two sons, Mr. Joe D. Chambers of Mebane and Mr. Keokuk Chambers of Burlington; eight sisters, Ms. Geneva Farrish of Burlington, Ms. Lucille Chambers of Green Level, Ms. Lillie Chambers of Mount Vernon, N.Y., Ms. Camilla White of Cedar Grove, Ms. Shirley Lawson and Ms. Calvesta Crisp, both of Mebane, Ms. Christine Hall of Richmond, Va., and Ms. Ann Cates of Hillsborough; four brothers, Mr. Willie Chambers of Green Level, Mr. Thomas I. Chambers of Mebane, Mr. Ray Chambers of Columbus, Ga., and Mr. Jackie Rushing of Leasburg; 26 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Mr. Jessie James Chambers and Mr. Tony Norris Chambers.
