EFLAND - Carrie Marie Johnson, infant daughter of Mr. Thomas Johnson and Mrs. Kimberly Johnson, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Survivors other than her parents include maternal grandfather, Mr. Tatum Lee Sutton of Clinton; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lillian Allen of Efland; and great-grandmother, Mrs. Mary Etta McCullen of Faison.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Billie Sue Sutton; paternal grandfather, Mr. William Hubert Johnson; and great-grandfather, Mr. William “Bill” McCullen.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Clinton cemetery by the Rev. Richard Stanley.

Mrs. Margaret McBroom
DURHAM - Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth McBroom, 75, of 907 Clarendon St., died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Orange County.
Survivors include two sisters, Ms. Hattie Miles of Burlington and Ms. Lena Allen of Durham.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Scarborough and Hargett Funeral Home in Durham by the Rev. Eddie Johnson. Burial will be in Markham Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the funeral home 30 minutes before the service.
Mrs. Martha D. Perry
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Martha Douglas Perry of 333 Hale St., died at 1:17 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health.
A native of Harnett County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Diffie Perry and the daughter of Mr. O.T. Douglas and Mrs. Laura Collins Douglas, both deceased. She was retired from Western Electric Co. and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Margie P. Kimrey of Burlington; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Kenneth D. Perry.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham. Burial will be in Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery in Pittsboro.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening.
Mr. Gene H. Weeks
BURLINGTON - Mr. Gene Howard Weeks, 37, of 2300 Pineknoll Terrace, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Rex Health Care Center in Raleigh after a sudden illness.
A native of Japan, he was the husband of Mrs. Viola Garvey Weeks, who survives, and the son of Mr. James Weeks and Mrs. Egantline Doward Weeks, who both survive. He was an employee of LabCorp. He was a graduate of Livingstone College in Salisbury. He was a musician and played the keyboard with the Majestic Lions. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Apple Street.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and parents of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, include two sisters, Mrs. Joan Weeks of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. JoAnn W. Titus of Maryland; a brother, Mr. Agon Weeks of Oakland; and a grandmother, Mrs. Alma Doward of St. Croix.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Apple Street, by Dr. Richard W. Styles Sr., pastor. A service will be conducted at James Memorial Funeral Home, St. Croix. Burial will be in Frederickeal, St. Croix.
The family will be at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home from 6 to 7 Thursday evening.

GRAHAM - Mrs. Myrtle Dodson Carden died at 5:05 p.m. Sept. 22, 1998, at Hospice Home of Alamance.

Mr. Hobart W. Coble
LIBERTY - Mr. Hobart Woodrow Coble, 85, of 3068 N.C. 62 East, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital after several years of failing health, several weeks critical.
Born Feb. 17, 1913, in Guilford County, he was the husband for 62 years of Mrs. Inez Bishop Coble and the son of Mr. Killian Coble and Mrs. Fannie L. Coble, both deceased. He was a former employee of Standard Hosiery Mils and Kayser-Roth and was retired from P. Lorillard Co. in Greensboro. He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Kimesville.
Survivors other than his wife include a daughter, Mrs. Max (Joanne C.) Clapp of Liberty; two sons, Mr. H.W. Coble II of Whitsett and Mr. Gary Coble of Liberty; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church by Dr. Charles Adams, pastor, and the Rev. Lynn Cash, associate pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening.

Mrs. Mallie H. Morris
SNOW CAMP - Mrs. Mallie Harris Morris, 88, of 3190 Morris Trail, died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at Sunrise of the Triad Nursing Home in High Point after three years of failing health, one month critical.
A native of Person County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Willie Greenwood Morris and the daughter of Mr. Weldon Harris and Mrs. Elizabeth C. Harris, both deceased. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Liberty and a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, Mr. Robert Morris and Mr. David Morris, both of Liberty, Mr. Jerry “Pete” Morris and Mr. Larry Morris, both of Snow Camp; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Mr. William G. “Bill” Morris and Mr. Douglas M. Morris.

Mr. Charles McIntyre Sr.
ALTAMAHAW - Mr. Charles “Sonny” William McIntyre Sr., 88, of 3094 Cherokee Drive, died at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at his home after two years of failing health, six months critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ruth Gertrude Cozart McIntyre, who survives, and the son of Mr. William Seymore McIntyre and Mrs. Mary Ella Clark McIntyre, both deceased. He retired from Glen Raven Mills after 50 years of service. He was a member of West Burlington Church of God.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Mr. Charles William McIntyre Jr. of Hampton, Va., and Mr. Michael Allen McIntyre of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Patterson and Mrs. Bela Spoon, both of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Frank MacIntyre of Virginia; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. Jewell Winn, Mrs. Kate Dunn, Mrs. Ethel Tate and Mrs. Lake Hopkins; and a brother, Mr. Everett “Mac” Alfonzo MacIntyre.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Olin Tatum, pastor of West Burlington Church of God, and the Rev. Michael Johnson. Burial will be in Bethlehem Christian Church cemetery.

Mr. Harrison Harvey Sr.
SNOW CAMP - Mr. Harrison Harvey Sr., 86, of 8146 N.C. 49 South, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, at Chatham County Hospital in Siler City after several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Billie Hammonds Harvey, and the son of Mr. Mack Harvey and Mrs. Adella Allen Harvey, both deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of McBroom’s Chapel Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Harrison Harvey Jr. of Asheboro and Mr. Bennie M. Harvey of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Lessie Harvey of Fuquay Varina; and three grandchildren
The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. W.J. Holt. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home one hour before the service.
Mrs. Meda S. Brooks
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Meda Skipper Brooks, 89, a resident of Quality Care, died at 5:26 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Brunswick County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Samuel Opal Brooks, and the daughter of Mr. John M. Skipper and Mrs. Allie Carter Skipper, both deceased. She was retired from Copland Fabrics and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Carol Ann McCormack of Mebane; three sons, Mr. Alton Elwood Brooks of Henderson, Mr. Warren Wade Brooks of Nokesville, Va., and Mr. Roger Franklin Brooks of Gibsonville; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Linwood Brooks; two sisters, Ms. Virginia Dickens and Ms. Della Pierce; five brothers, Mr. Claude Skipper, Mr. Francis Skipper, Mr. Donald Skipper, Mr. Lawrence Skipper and Mr. Charlie Skipper.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Tim Robinson, pastor of The First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery in Graham.
The family will be at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington Tuesday afternoon from 12:45 to 1:45. At other times they will be at the home of the daughter at 3132 Timberlyne Drive, Mebane.

YANCEYVILLE - Mr. David Jefferies, 64, of 4533 Hodges Dairy Road, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center, Danville, Va.
Born May 12, 1934, in Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Marjarie W. Jefferies, who survives and the son of Mr. Henry Herman Jefferies and Mrs. Ardella Elizabeth Graves Jefferies both deceased. He was a member of Hamer Baptist Church and was employed as a machine operator of Easco Aluminum in Burlington.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include four daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Marie Swann, Miss Joyce Ann Watlington, Mrs. Daisy Mae Graves and Miss Evorn Watlington, all of Yanceyville; two sons, Mr. David Junior Jefferies of Danville and Mr. Corey Lamont Jefferies of Gibsonville; two foster sons, Mr. Mickey Watlington of Burlington and Mr. William Watlington of Gibsonville; seven sisters, Mrs. Pecolia J. Pinchback, Mrs. Wynolia J. Johnson, Miss Hazel C. Jefferies, all of Blanch, Miss Sylvia Lue Jefferies of Yanceyville, Mrs. Beatrice J. Hughes, Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Jefferies and Miss Joan Jefferies, all of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Mr. Paul Jefferies of Danville, Mr. Theodore Jefferies and Mr. Thaddie Lea of Washington, D.C.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hamer Baptist Church in Blanch by the Rev. Chephus Lea. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
