Mr. Jimmie L. Capps
BURLINGTON - Mr. Jimmie Lee Capps, 80, of 1080 Deep Creek Church Road, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at his home after several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Myrtle Ragan Capps and the son of Mr. Arthur Capps and Mrs. Mary Warren Capps, both deceased. He was a retired farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of City Lake Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher for more than 30 years.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Dean (Shirley) Coggins of Graham, Mrs. James (Susie) Eastwood, Mrs. Roger (Priscilla) Maness and Ms. Penny Ford, all of Burlington, and Ms. Bonnie Turner of Haw River; three sons, Mr. Jack Capps, Mr. Allen “Bud” Capps and Mr. Paul Capps, all of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Charlie Capps of Burlington; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Curtis Capps and Mr. John Capps.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at City Lake Baptist Church by the Rev. Fred Madren Jr., pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening and at other times at the home of Mrs. Susie Eastwood, 1080 Deep Creek Church Road, Burlington.

Mr. William L. Royster
BURLINGTON - Mr. William Louis Royster, of 417 Jerkin St., died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Person County, he was the husband of Mrs. Lucille Thompson Royster, who survives, and the son of Mr. Will McKinley Royster and Mrs. Fannie Lee Thaxton Royster, both deceased. He was a self-employed painter and a member of Morning Star Baptist Church, where he was a trustee, usher and member of the male chorus.
Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Mr. Jeffrey Royster of South Carolina and Mr. Lorenzo “Andy” Davis of Burlington; a stepson, Mr. Willie Lester Johnson Jr.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Angelene Johnson Gant of Burlington; three brothers, the Rev. Sterling J. Royster of Mebane, Mr. James A. Royster of Burlington and Mr. Danny R. Royster of Greensboro; and three sisters, Mrs. Clara J. Foster of Greensboro, Mrs. Drucilla R. Watlington of Green Level and Mrs. Linda K. Royster of Burlington.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Morning Star Baptist Church by the Rev. Terry Young, pastor. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Elsie K. Jenkins
GRAHAM - Mrs. Elsie Keck Jenkins, 85, of 4117 Tolley Ridge Lane, Winston-Salem, died at 2:08 a.m. Monday, March 22, 1999, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was formerly of Holland Avenue, Burlington, and a former resident of Oak Creek Retirement Center for six years.
A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Clyde Jenkins and the daughter of Mr. Vance F. Keck and Mrs. Annie Riley Keck, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jackie Webster of the home; a son, Mr. Edward Franklin Jenkins of Louisburg; a brother, Mr. Melvin Keck of Stone Meadows Adult Care Facilities; a half sister, Mrs. Kathlene Conklin of Durham; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Thelma Suggs.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Riverside Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Boysel and the Rev. Curtis Oakley. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Barbara B. Bray
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Barbara Barber “Butch” Bray, 63, of 2302 Rose Court, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at her home after a long illness.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of Mr. Tommy Joe Bray, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Homer Barber and Mrs. Verlie Loftis Barber Pryor, both deceased. She was a homemaker.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a son, Mr. Joel Scott Bray of Concord; a daughter, Mrs. Michael S. (Tanya Jo) Lunsford of Monroe; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Howard Thompson, pastor of Burlington Assembly of God.
The family will be at the home.

Mr. Henry D. Elmore
LIBERTY - Mr. Henry Dale Elmore, 49, of Liberty, died Sunday morning, March 21, 1999, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He was a former resident of Dunn.
He was the husband of Mrs. Doris Moize Elmore, who survives, and the son of Mr. Henry D. Elmore and Mrs. Esther Thornton Elmore, both deceased. He was a graduate of Midway High School and had worked as a welder for Kivetts Welding in Liberty.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three sons, Mr. Christopher Dale Elmore of Dunn, Mr. Joseph Richard Elmore of Burlington and Mr. Sammy Lee of the home; two daughters, Ms. Mary Catherine Elmore of Dunn and Ms. Lisa Gray of Mebane; a sister, Ms. Betty Jean Royal of Leland; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Frankie Elmore and Mr. Shelton Elmore; and a sister, Ms. Peggy E. Wilson.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cromartie, Miller and Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Dunn by the Rev. Phillip Boykin.
The family will be at the funeral home following the service.

Mrs. Catherine Drinkwater
IRON STATION - Mrs. Catherine Motley Drinkwater, 76, of 2758 Keever Dairy Farm Road, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Lincoln Medical Center.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the wife of the late Mr. Leroy Drinkwater and the daughter of Mr. William Motley and Mrs. Olive Jefferson Motley, both deceased. She and her family lived in Burlington for 20 years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Roy Drinkwater of Lincolnton and Mr. Andrew Drinkwater of the home; three brothers, Mr. Kenneth Motley of Brooklyn, Mr. Don Motley of New Jersey and Mr. Bobby Motley of Springfield, Mass.; and a grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Hollybrook cemetery in Lincolnton by Dr. Everette Thomas.

Mr. Roland Bozeman
DURHAM - Mr. Roland Bozeman, 79, of 1206 Thompson Road, died Sunday afternoon, March 21, 1999, at Triangle Hospice/Meadowlands after failing health.
A native of Brunswick County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Mary Milliken Bozeman and the son of Mr. Napoleon Tasker Bozeman and Mrs. Lissie Hickman Bozeman, both deceased. He was retired from Burlington Industries after 30 years of employment. He was a member of the United Textiles of America and the Catsburg Hunting Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Wanda B. Parrish of Durham; a son, Mr. Wayne Bozeman of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Linnie Ward of Longwood, Mrs. Mary Somerset of Grissettown, Mrs. Ada Wright of Ocean Isle Beach and Mrs. Mazell Grice of Pireway; a brother, Mr. Clyde Bozeman of Longwood; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Clements Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Paul Carlyle. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Mr. John F. Gravitte
GRAHAM - Mr. John Franklin “Bobby” Gravitte, 59, of 1102 Pomeroy St., died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 1999, at LaSalle Health Care Center in Durham after a long illness.
A native of Durham County, he was the son of Mrs. Eula Mae Haith King, who survives, and the late Mr. John Gravitte. He was a retired textile knitter.
Survivors other than his mother of Graham include a sister, Mrs. Brenda Suitts of Graham; and a brother, Mr. David King of Graham.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham.

BURLINGTON - Mr. Charles T. Hunter, 71, of 3637 Garner Road, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at his home after a long illness.

Mr. James L. Hayes
YANCEYVILLE - Mr. James Leroy Hayes, 35, of 201 Mary Jane Bigelow Road, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Leroy Hayes and Mrs. Sylvia Poole Hayes, who both survive. He was a member of Allen’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his father of Green Level and mother of Reidsville include two sisters, Ms. Rebecca Hayes and Ms. Lisa Simpson, both of Reidsville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Kenneth Hayes.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Allen’s Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. James Brown, pastor. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home in Burlington.
Mr. Ira L. Tesh
GRAHAM - Mr. Ira Lavern Tesh, 67, of 2459 Rogers Road, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro after four weeks of failing health, three weeks critical.
A native of Forsyth County, he was the husband of Mrs. Betty Mayberry Tesh, who survives, and the son of Mr. Ira Lavern Tesh Sr. and Mrs. Ethel Woosley Tesh, both deceased. He was retired from AT&T and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Pamela Rowell of Winston-Salem and Mrs. Penny McVey of Graham; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Couch of Winston-Salem; a brother, Mr. Richard Tesh of Winston-Salem; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fellowship Baptist Church by the Rev. Ken Simpson, pastor. Burial will be in Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
