Mr. John S. Rende Sr.
SALISBURY - Mr. John Samuel Rende Sr., 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after a short illness.
A native of Utica, N.Y., he was the husband of Mrs. Irene L. Rende, who survives. He lived in China Grove for the past year.
Survivors other than his wife of China Grove include two daughters, Ms. Doreen Folino of Marcy, N.Y., and Ms. Olivia Sptolla of New Hartford; four sons, Mr. John Samuel Rende Jr. of Haw River, Mr. Mark Rende of Skylar, N.Y., Mr. Jerry Rende of Mooresville and Mr. Michael Rende of Waxhaw; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted in New York. Burial will be Tuesday in St. Paul’s Cathedral in Whitesboro, N.Y.

Mr. J.C. Herbin
ELON COLLEGE - Mr. J.C. Herbin, of 109 Long St., died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at White Oak Manor after a long illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Nellie Jordan Moore Herbin, who survives, and the son of Mr. Jule Herbin and Mrs. Minnie Herbin, both deceased. He attended Alamance County schools and North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, where he later became a custodian. He attended Faith Baptist Church in Gibsonville. He was a member of the American Legion Post 63 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three daughters, Mrs. Cynthia Denise Haith of Fort Huachuca, Ariz., Ms. Karen Renee Herbin and Mrs. Patty Currie, both of Burlington; a son, Mr. Daniel Herbin of Burlington; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Joyce Moore Jeffries and Mrs. Sandra Cohn, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Faye Pinnix of Elon College; four stepsons, Mr. Connie Moore of Burlington, Mr. Walter Moore of Fayetteville, Mr. Tony Moore of Reidsville, and Mr. Duncan Moore of Elon College; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Foster of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Lottie M. Brown of Burlington, and Mrs. Barbara Jean Fox of Greensboro; two brothers, Mr. Samuel Herbin of Glen Raven and Mr. Clyde Herbin of Burlington; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Faith Baptist Church by the Rev. Eli Burton and the Rev. Timothy Warren, pastor. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at the church 30 minutes before the service, and at other times at the home.
Mr. George T. Morrow
SNOW CAMP - Mr. George Thomas Morrow, 78, of 1358 Lambe Road, died at 11:47 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after six months of failing health, four days critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Sarah Curl Davis Morrow and the son of Mr. Calvin N. Morrow and Mrs. Bonnie Moore Morrow, both deceased. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the Snow Camp American Legion. He was a retired dairy farmer and a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Katherine) Woody and Mrs. Myrtle Foust, both of Graham, and Mrs. Frank (Rachel) Taylor of Charlotte.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the church fellowship hall following the service, and at other times at the home of Mrs. Myrtle Foust, 1518 Broadway Drive, Graham.

Mrs. Elouise Straughn
GREENSBORO - Mrs. Elouise Hay Straughn, 82, of Greenwood Drive, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Mr. Frank L. Straughn. She was a graduate of Elon College and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Barbara S. McKinney of Spindale, and a son, Mr. John R. Straughn of Brentwood, Tenn.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery in Burlington.
The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Street Chapel from 6 to 8 Sunday evening.

Mrs. Janie B. Eanes
GRAHAM - Mrs. Janie Wiggington Bates Eanes, 81, of 820 Oakley St., died at 4:38 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
A native of Halifax County, Va., she was the wife of the late Mr. Edward Anderson Eanes and the daughter of Mr. George Bates and Mrs. Bessie Vaughn Bates, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Burlington Assembly of God.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Billy C. Eanes of Burlington and Mr. Jimmy W. Eanes of Charlotte; one brother, Mr. Holland Bates of Sallisaw, Okla.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Guy R. Eanes; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Sykes, Mrs. Beatrice Biddix and Miss Clara Eanes; and a brother, Mr. Frank Bates.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Howard Thompson, pastor of Burlington Assembly of God. A 2 p.m. graveside service will be held Saturday at Iredell Memorial Garden in Statesville.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham this evening from 7 to 9, and at other times at the home of Mr. Billy C. Eanes, 2627 Anthony Road, Burlington.
Mrs. Julianne Dufault
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Julianne Dufault, 85, of 617 Durham St., died at 9:41 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at Mebane Family Care.
She was a native of Pittston, Pa.
She is survived by a brother, Mr. Bernard Berkise of Pittston.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Northlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at Blackwell Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. today.
Mr. Bladdie L. Rogers
GRAHAM - Mr. Bladdie Lee Rogers, 84, of 2643 Saxapahaw-Bethlehem Church Road, died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at his home after several years of failing health, and a critical illness of one month. He was a former resident of 3512 Oak Grove Church Road, Mebane.
Born July 24, 1914, in Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Pauline Walters Rogers, who survives, and the son of Mr. Anderson Rogers and Mrs. Cattie Coggins Rogers, both deceased. He was a retired employee of Sellars Manufacturing Co. in Saxapahaw and a retired farmer. He attended Mebane Church of God.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include one son, Mr. Jimmy Rogers of Mebane; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Rogers Brown of Pittsboro and Mrs. Carolyn Rogers Jones of Mebane; four stepsons, Mr. William “Buck” Walters of Knoxville, Tenn., Mr. Michael David Walters of Graham, Mr. Gary Wayne Walters of California and Mr. Terry Lynn Walters of Seaford, Va.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Darlene Walters Clements of Creedmore and Mrs. Vickie Walters Coble of Graham; two sisters, Mrs. Lois Douglas of Hillsborough and Mrs. Hazel Redecky of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. David Ray Rogers.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mebane Church of God by the Rev. Wayne Miller, pastor. Burial will follow in Moore’s Chapel cemetery.

Mr. Farley B. Goins
RUFFIN - Mr. Farley Benjamin Goins, 79, of 624 Schoolfield Road, died Wednesday night, Nov. 25, 1998, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
A native of Randolph County, he was the husband of Mrs. Doris Martin Goins, who survives. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II and the Korean War. He worked as a carpenter after retiring. He was a Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include one stepson, Mr. Carroll David Roach of Ruffin; three stepdaughters, Ms. Mary Elaine Ingram of Eden, Ms. Darlene Thomas of Wentworth and Ms. Joyce Newcomb of Caswell County; 12 step grandchildren; and 17 great-step grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville. Burial will be at Mayfield Baptist Church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 this evening at Wilkerson Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.
Mrs. Irene M. Boggs
GRAHAM - Mrs. Irene Mann Boggs, 82, of 409 Kirk St., China Grove, died at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at North East Medical Center in Concord after several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Lewis Oscar Boggs and the daughter of Mr. Tom Mann and Mrs. Ida Petty Mann, both deceased. She was a retired sales clerk, and a member of Center United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Mr. Steve Boggs Jr. of Concord, and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Bessie Drake, and three brothers, Mr. Bill Mann, Mr. Bud Mann and Mr. Charlie Mann.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Burial will be in Center United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mr. Robert V. Hope Jr.
MARIETTA, Ga. - Mr. Robert “Bob” Virgil Hope Jr., 82, of Marietta, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, in Marietta. He was a former resident of Burlington.
A native of Washington, N.C., he was the son of the Rev. R.V. Hope and Mrs. Lillie Freeman Hope, both deceased. He was a member of Front Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he was a deacon emeritus. He was an honorary coach of the Williams High School football team. He attended the University of Tennessee and Milligan College.
Survivors include one sister, Ms. Vail Hope Ellis of Marietta, and nieces and nephews.
He was receded in death by a brother, Mr. Frank F. Hope.
A graveside service willl be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Pine Hill cemetery by the Rev. Preston Parson and Dr. Dace Lewis. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Front Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
