Mr. Theotis W. Simpson
REIDSVILLE - Mr. Theotis Wilson Simpson, 49, of Reidsville, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center in Danville, Va.
Born Oct. 5, 1949, in Caswell County, he was the son of Mr. James Walter Simpson and Mrs. Sarah Hatchett Simpson, both deceased. He was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church and was employed by Copland Fabrics as a machine operator.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Andrea Myers and Mrs. Shanda Wilson, both of Portsmouth, Va.; a son, Mr. Adolph Carter of Portsmouth; four sisters, Mrs. Sharon S. Graves and Miss Debra Simpson, both of Pelham, Mrs. Ella S. Mullins of Reidsville and Mrs. Alice S. Payne of New York; two brothers, Mr. George Henry Simpson and Mr. John West Simpson, both of Pelham; two stepsisters, Mrs. Carolyn S. Comings and Mrs. Mary Wimple, both of Reidsville; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Red Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Gregory Hopkins. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body may be viewed from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Fulton Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Sharon Graves, 1218 Mineral Spring Road, Pelham.
Ms. Marie Kirkpatrick
FLORENCE, S.C. - Ms. Marie Kirkpatrick of Patriots Place, Apt. B-2C, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at her home.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Mr. Sam Kirkpatrick and Mrs. Annie Lee Kirkpatrick, both deceased. She was a domestic worker and a member of Faith Outreach Nondenominational Ministry of Florence.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Anthony Kirkpatrick of Burlington and Mr. Terry Lee of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Miss Renee Lee of New York City and Miss Casandra Kirkpatrick of Laurinburg; two brothers, Mr. Paul Kirkpatrick and Mr. Robert Kirkpatrick, both of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Shirley Williams of Dillon, S.C., Miss Brenda Kirkpatrick, Miss Elaine Kirkpatrick and Mrs. Almeta Crawford, all of Burlington; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Sharpe Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Fred Gilchrist, pastor of Faith Outreach Nondenominational Ministry. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at Sharpe Funeral Home one hour before the service, and at other times at the home of Mr. Paul Kirkpatrick, 837 Day St., Burlington.
Mrs. Christine I. Elkins
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Christine Isley Elkins, 73, of 1121 Graham St., died at 12:44 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a critical illness of one week.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Harold B. Elkins, and the daughter of Mr. Robert A. Isley and Mrs. Bertha Hancock Isley, both deceased. She was employed by Fashionette Dress Shop for more than 30 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Graham.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Mr. Garland Isley, Mr. G.W. Isley, Mr. Roy Isley and Mr. Johnnie Isley.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by Dr. Paul Lane, pastor of First Baptist Church of Graham. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham one hour before the service.
Mr. Robert E. Vancil
BURLINGTON - Mr. Robert E. “Bobby” Vancil, 44, of 2005 Valley Court, Clayton, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Meadowlands Nursing Home Center in Hillsborough.

Mr. Charles Youngs Jr.
MIAMI - Mr. Charles A. “Chuck” Youngs Jr., 79, of Miami, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at 5003 N.C. 86 South, Yanceyville, after several months of failing health.
A native of New York City, he was the husband of Mrs. Leona Powell Youngs, who survives, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Youngs Sr., both deceased. He was a veteran of World War II, and served as the pilot of the B-17G Flying Fortress “Miss Pan Am, ” with the 463rd bomb Group in the U.S. 15th Air Force. Flying out of Celone Field near Foggia, Italy, he and his crew completed 50 combat missions during a 90-day period, May 18 to Aug. 15, 1944. Following discharge, he became a pilot for National AirLines, based in Miami. He retired in December 1978, having logged, 25, 000 hours of flying time over a 32-year career. He was a charter member of Poinciana United Methodist Church in Miami Springs.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Ms. Bonnie Youngs of Huntsville, Ala.; two sons, Mr. John C. Youngs of Huntsville and Mr. Robert T. Youngs of Miami Springs, Fla.; a sister, Ms. Cay Thompson of Longwood, Fla., and three step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. George Youngs.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hooper Funeral Home in Yanceyville by the Rev. Tom Denny. A graveside service will be in Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church on U.S. 158 East, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post. No. 89.
The family will be at Hooper Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at 5003 N.C. 86 South, Yanceyville.
Ms. Dorothy N. Carden
MEBANE - Ms. Dorothy Nadine Terry Carden, 71, of 5208 Mount Willing Road, died at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a two-week illness.
Born in Alamance County on March 29, 1927, she was the wife of the late Mr. George Carden, and the daughter of Mr. Jack Terry and Mrs. Eula Albright Terry, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Ms. Donna Whitfield of Mebane; two sisters, Mrs. Nell Morris and Mrs. Violet Phillips, both of Mebane; and two grandchildren.

MEBANE - Mrs. Edna Kerley Terrell, 87, of 932 Fleeman Lane, Burlington, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Alamance Health Care Center after six months of failing health, two weeks critical.
A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Robert Bryant Terrell, and the daughter of Mr. James Franklin Kerley and Mrs. Lillie Moon Kerley, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Mebane.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ann Sykes of Mebane and Mrs. Peggy Combs of Burlington; two sons, Mr. Bobby Terrell of Mebane and Mr. Jerry Varnum of Burgaw; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Carden and Mrs. Elaine Dodson, both of Mebane; two brothers, Mr. Aubrey Kerley of Hopewell, Va., and Mr. Jimmy Kerley of Mebane; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lebanon United Methodist Church cemetery by Dr. Perry Ross, the Rev. Chuck Perkins and the Rev. Tommy Gregory.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 to 8 this evening.
Miss Emily C. Daniels
MEBANE - Miss Emily Christine Daniels, 71, of 2501 N.C. 119 South, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Hawfields Presbyterian Home after a long illness, two weeks critical.
A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of Mr. Walter Bristo Daniels and Mrs. Rosa Hicks Daniels, both deceased. She was retired from the General Electric Co., and was a member of Mebane Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Qumiller Pruitt of Prospect Hill, Mrs. Margaret Walker of Cedar Grove and Mrs. Lillian Gerringer of Burlington.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by the Rev. Mark Loman, pastor of Mebane Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in the Cooper Family Cemetery.

Mrs. Verna McAdams
RALEIGH - Mrs. Verna Brock McAdams, 77, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1998.
A native of Mt. Olive, she was the wife of Mr. Chares K. McAdams, who survives. She was retired from the N.C. Conference of the United Methodist Church. She was a long-time member of Benson Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member for 30 years.
Survivors other than her husband include two daughters, Ms. Cindy Hallman of Knightdale and Ms. Patricia Sheffield of Garner; two sons, Mr. Ken McAdams of Apex and Mr. David McAdams of Raleigh; a sister, Ms. Azilo McLamb of Raleigh; a brother Mr. Avery Brock of Reidsville; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Benson Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Hugh Cameron. A graveside service will be held Monday at Hebron United Methodist Church cemetery in Mebane.

Mrs. Nellie C. Brown
dies at age 101
McLEANSVILLE - Mrs. Nellie Cobb Brown, 101, of 5475 Timbermill Road, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at Starmount Villa Nursing Home.
Born July 20, 1897, in Guilford County, she was the wife of Mr. William Alexander Brown, who died in 1960, and the daughter of Mr. John Cobb and Mrs. Mary Starr Cobb, both deceased. She was a lifelong resident of Guilford County. She was a homemaker, member of Peace Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Church Women and was a community volunteer.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. R.W. (Dorothy B) Rainey of Burlington; three sons, Mr. John Monroe Brown, Mr. Daniel Robert Brown and Mr. Henry C. Brown, all of McLeansville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Charlie V. Brown.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Church cemetery.

Mrs. Bettie D. Bass
SANFORD, Fla. - Mrs. Bettie H. Donley Bass, 81, of Katie Street, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998.
A native of Henry County, Va., she was the wife of the late Mr. Ronald Grey Donley Sr. and the late Mr. Albert A. Bass. She moved to Central Florida in 1958 from Graham. She was a seamstress in the garment industry. She was a member of the Women of Moose and a charter member of the Sanford Lodge. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Sanford.
Survivors include three sons, Mr. Ronald G. Donley Jr. of Sanford, Mr. Gerald D. Donley Sr. of Graham and Mr. P. Ralph Donley Sr. of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Ms. Allie Mae McRee of Sanford; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Douglas B. Donley.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Oaklawn Chapel. Burial will be in Oaklawn Park cemetery in Lake Mary, Fla.
Mrs. Prakhong Riley
HAMPTON, Va. - Mrs. Prakhong “Dang” Riley, 61, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Sentara Hampton General Hospital in Hampton, Va.
A native of Thailand, she was the wife of Mr. Sandy G. Riley, who survives. She was a Virginia Peninsula resident for the past 15 years. She was a member of Watpa Santidhamma Buddhist Temple in Carrollton, Va. She accompanied her husband on numerous assignments before his retirement from the Air Force.
Survivors other than her husband of Hampton include a son, Mr. Praserd Shomai of Huai Thalaeng, Thailand; a sister, Ms. Jai Shomai of Huai Thalaeng; a grandchild; and other relatives in Burlington.
A traditional Buddhist ceremony will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel in Newport News, Va.
The family will be at Weymouth Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 Saturday evening.
