Mr. George H. Clark
GIBSONVILLE - Mr. George Henderson Clark, 59, of 300 Sedalia Road, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at Terry Care Home in Yanceyville after an illness of several months.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Peggy Miller Clark, who survives, and the son of Mr. Geroge William Clark and Mrs. Katie Younger Clark, both deceaed. He was a brick mason contractor.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Miss JoAnn Clark of the home; two sons, Mr. Tyrone Clark and Mr. Anthony Clark, both of the home; two sisters, Miss Evelyn Clark of Greensboro and Ms. Lois Farrow of Burlington; three brothers, Mr. Harvey Ben Clark of Arizona, Mr. Willie Clark of California and Mr. Ronnie Clark of Greensboro; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. W.J. Holt. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Miss Eva S. Jeffries
BURLINGTON - Miss Eva Sophronia Jeffries, 87, of 2447 E. Simpson Road, died at 10:40 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Mr. Nathan Jeffries and Mrs. Ida Liggins Jeffries, both deceased.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Betty Ann Parsons of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Gladys Louise White of Cranberry, N.J.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Martin’s Chapel cemetery by the Rev. Terry B. Jones.
The family will be at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home from 7 to 8 Thursday evening, and at other times at the home of Mrs. Loura M. Burnette, 1723 Lakeview Drive, Hopedale community.
Mr. Ralph F. Finch
BURLINGTON - Mr. Ralph Franklin Finch, 85, of 2206 Wiggins St., died at 7:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at Britthaven of Madison after five years of failing health.
A native of Nash County, he was the husband of Mrs. Clarsie Beal Finch, who survives, and the son of Mr. Eaton Franklin Finch and Mrs. Roxie Ann Liles Finch, both deceased. He was a retired employee of Sellars Manufacturing Co., and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Mr. James R. “Jim” Finch of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Ina Bissett of Greenville; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Reitzel, Mrs. Bertha Manning and Mrs. Reba Brown.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jim Hobbs, pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mr. Jon C. Creviston
BURLINGTON - Mr. Jon Calvin Creviston, 59, of 2833 Maple Ave., died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at his home after 1˝ years of failing health.
A native of Marion County, Ohio, he was the husband of Mrs. Cecilia R. Creviston, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Isobel Gamble Creviston, who survives, and the late Mr. Richard Creviston. He retired from Easco Aluminum Co. He was a member of Petty Shore Hunting Club and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Galion, Ohio, include two daughters, Mrs. Darlene Sue Cole of Graham and Ms. Laurie Ann Creviston of the home; a son, Master Sgt. Peter Bryan Creviston of the U.S. Air Force, Cibolo, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Susan Jenkins of Galion and Mrs. Janis Ray of Marion; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by the Rev. Terrence Pescatore. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home. A Christian wake service will be conducted at 7 p.m. this evening at Rich and Thompson Chapel.

Mrs. Mazie G. Guthrie
GRAHAM - Mrs. Mazie Glenn Guthrie, 87, of 1811 Meadowview Drive, died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after five months of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Chatham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. R. Layton Guthrie, and the daughter of Mr. Charlie S. Glenn and Mrs. Carrie Webster Glenn, both deceased. She was a retired hosiery employee and a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert F. (Betty) Swink of Graham; two sisters, Mrs. Katie Braxton and Mrs. Annie Lee Longest, both of Graham; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn G. Patterson; a sister, Mrs. Hattie G. Cructhfield; and two brothers, Mr. Lexie N. Glenn and Mr. Kiah Glenn.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Norman M. Whitney Sr., pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at the funeral home one hour before the service, and at other times at the home of the daughter, 1324 S. Main St., Graham.

Mrs. Maddlean B. Leath
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Maddlean Bigelow Leath, of 2174 George Russell Road, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Mr. William A. Leath and the daughter of Mr. Robert Wade and Mrs. Eunice Bigelow J. Graves, both deceased. She was a member of Graves Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Mr. Musker Bigelow of Burlingon; a sister, Mrs. Bettie J. Russell of Yanceyville; two stepbrothers, Mr. Charles Graves and Mr. Franklin Graves, both of Pelham; two stepsisters, Mrs. Ida Farrish of Pelham and Mrs. Laddie Matthews of Maryland; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Graves Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenneth Walker, pastor, and the Rev. Floyd Corbett, eulogist.
The family will be at the church one hour before the service and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Russell Jr.

Mr. Robert Williams Sr.
BURLINGTON - Mr. Robert Alfonzo “Al” Williams Sr., 37 of 1309 Elm St., died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A native of Anderson County, S.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Gwendolyn Robinson Williams, who survives, and the son of Mr. Dayton Williams Sr., and Mrs. Martha Gambrell Williams, both deceased. He was employed by Burlington Industries, and was a graduate of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Ms. Kortney Williams of the home; a son, Mr. Robert A. Williams II of the home; four sisters, Mrs. Annie M. Powers, Mrs. Brenda F. Johnson and Mrs. Mattie L. Lewis of Pendleton, S.C., and Mrs. Edith S. Holmes of White Marsh, Va.; and two brothers, Mr. Dayton Williams Jr. and Mr. James Ray Williams of Pendleton.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. John Edward Williams.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Able Baptist Church in Pendleton by the Rev. Jerome Taylor, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. George T. Ivey
GRAHAM - Mr. George Thomas Ivey, 82, of 220 Monroe Lane, Elon College, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Brunswick County Hospital, Supply. He was formerly of Border Street, Graham.
A native of Orange County, he was the husband of Mrs. Shirley Payne Ivey, who survives and the late Mrs. Irene Lewey Ivey. He was the son of Mr. Algie Ivey and Mrs. Emma Glosson Ivey, both deceased. He was a retired manager for People’s Security Life Insurance Co., and was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Mr. James T. Ivey of Greensboro; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Tammy Taylor of Memphis, Tenn.; a stepson, Mr. Jerry Payne of Elon College; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Bob Stephenson. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. Claude A. Blackwell
BURLINGTON - Mr. Claude A. Blackwell, 75, of 1607 Woodland Ave., died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at the Hospice Home of Burlington after an illness of two months.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Maxine Dodson Blackwell, and the son of Mr. Claude Blackwell and Mrs. Elna Poteat Blackwell, both deceased. He was retired from Western Electric Co., and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers and delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ and the Men’s Bible Class.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Susan) Balog of Burlington; a son, Dr. Tommy Blackwell of Greensboro; two sisters, Mrs. Mary L. Warren and Mrs. Morries (Ann) Allen, both of Burlington; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Pine Hill cemetery by the Rev. Phillip Myers, pastor of First Reformed United Church of Christ.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of the daughter, 1120 Ridgecrest Ave., Burlington.

Mrs. Ruth B. Parker
WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Ruth Baker Parker, 82, of 3355 Linda Circle, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at N.C. Baptist Hospital after several years of failing health.
A native of Canonville, Ohio, she was the wife of the late Mr. William Allen “Ace” Parker, and the daughter of Mr. William Daniel Baker and Mrs. Lula Mae Tilley Baker, both deceased. She was retired from Carolina Biological Supply Co. in Elon College. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church of Davidson County and a former member of Front Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. David Allen Roser of the home and Mr. Sam Roser of Winston-Salem; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Wells of Wheeling, Ohio; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Helen Price and Mrs. Lucy Dye; two brothers, Mr. Bill Baker and Mr. Glenn Baker.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pine Hill cemetery by the Rev. Harry Sellars, pastor of Midway United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Hollis Youngblood, former pastor.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 9 Friday evening.
