Mrs. Christine Stephens
RUFFIN - Mrs. Christine Lawson Stephens of 1544 Big Oak Farm Road, died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at Vencor Hospital in Greensboro.
Born July 1, 1933, in Guilford County, she was the wife of Mr. Wilbur J. Stephens, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Oscar Lawson and Mrs. Yancey Badgett Lawson, both deceased. She was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church, where she was in the senior choir.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Laverne S. Foster of Reidsville; a son, Mr. Percy Lee Stephens of Oakland, Calif.; two brothers, Mr. Robert Lawson and Mr. Percy Lawson, both of Greensboro; and a grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Gregory Hopkins.
The family will be at the home.
Mrs. Regina B. Perkins
GREEN LEVEL - Mrs. Regina Brown Perkins, 2586 Hilldale St., died Sunday, July 26, 1998, at her home.
A native of Burlington, she was the wife of Mr. Kenneth Perkins who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Herbert Brown and Mrs. Willie Elizabeth Long Brown, both deceased. She was employed by Orange-Caswell Comprehensive Health Services.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. LaDonte Hines of Durham; one son, Mr. Andrew Hines Jr. of Savannah, Ga.; four sisters, Mrs. Edna Mark of Burlington, Mrs. Doris Brown of Greensboro, Mrs. Linda B. Blackmon of Hamden, Conn., and Mrs. Rosemary B. White of Durham; two brothers, Mr. Berkeley Brown of Bridgeport, Conn. and Mr. Daniel Brown of Burlington; one stepson, Mr. Kenneth Perkins Jr. of Graham.
A private funeral will be conducted at Children's Chapel United Church of Christ by the Rev. Rodney Foxx, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Eula F. Siler
GRAHAM - Mrs. Eula Mae Foust Siler, 71, of 3231-A Southern High-Mt. Herman Road, died Friday, July 24, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a critical illness of one week.
A native of Chesterfield, S.C., she was the wife of the late Mr. Garland Foust Sr. and the late Rev. Lacy Siler. She was the daughter of Mr. Estridge McDonald and Mrs. Roxie Nivens McDonald, both deceased.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Mohamed of Beltsville, Md., Mrs. Novella Crowson and Ms. Roxie Foust of Graham; four sons, Mr. Alonzo A. Foust of Graham, Mr. Garland Foust Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mr. Theodore Foust of Asheboro and Mr. Gary Foust of Greensboro; three sisters, Mrs. Joyce Sowell of Cheraw, S.C., Mrs. JoAnn Birdsong of Detroit and Mrs. Ruth Blakeney of San Diego; four brothers, Mr. Theodore McDonald of Detroit, Mr. Estridge McDonald Jr. of Florida, Mr. Gary McDonald and Mr. Hardy McDonald of New York; two stepdaughters and two stepsons; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woods Chapel AME Church by the Rev. H.B. Williams, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Elsie R. Hunter
GRAHAM - Mrs. Elsie Ray Hunter, 85, formerly of 504 Lashley St., died at 1:25 p.m. Monday, July 27, 1998, at Alamance Health Care Center after four years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Chester Carl Hunter, and the daughter of Mr. Jabe Guthrie and Mrs. Mary Ann Ray Guthrie, both deceased. She was retired from Rental Uniform Inc., and was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Rebecca H. Coleman of Jamestown, Ms. Molly H. Carden of Greensboro, Mrs. Hannah H. Clapp of Gibsonville, and Ms. Jane H. Thacker and Miss Janice Hunter, both of Graham; three sons, Mr. Carl Lee Hunter of Burlington, Mr. Jabe Guthrie Hunter of Mebane and Mr. William Edward "Eddie" Hunter of Graham; a brother, Mr. William Guthrie of Graham; 16 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-step grandchildrem.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Ella Mae Lashley, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church by Dr. Tommy Willis. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
Mr. John A. Shaw
BURLINGTON - Mr. John A. Shaw, 75, of 419 Crescent Ave., died Friday, July 24, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Gladys R. Shaw, who survives. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired employee of General Motors, and the past wishful master of Augusta Lodge No. 642.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include four daughters, Ms. Sandra Dorrall of Omaha, Neb., Ms. Carolyn Shaw of Denver, Colo., Ms. Donna Shaw of Greensboro, and Ms. Danette Shaw Smallwood of Burlington; five sisters, Mrs. Catherlene Thompson of Fayetteville, Mrs. Mary Gibbs of Upper Marlboro, Md., Mrs. Helen Edwards of Albany, Ga., Mrs. Rosa Edwards of Bronx, N.Y., and Mrs. Naomi Coleman of Teaneck, N.J.; two brothers, Mr. Ed Shaw of Washington, D.C., and Mr. Charles Shaw of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; two stepsisters, Mrs. Catherine C. Fox and Mrs. Ethelyne C. Headen, both of Liberty; four stepbrothers, Mr. Edward Cheek of Liberty, Mr. James Cheek of Baltimore, the Rev. Cecil J. Cheek of Graham, and the Rev. George Cheek of Greensboro; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. R.W. Styles, pastor. The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at First Baptist Church from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Virginia B. Hines
RALEIGH - Mrs. Virginia Beatty Hines, 74, of 3408 Coleridge Drive, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 26, 1998, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh after several years of failing health, five days critical. She was formerly of Burlington.
A native of Rutherfordton, she was the wife of the late Mr. Harrison E. 'Smokey' Hines and the daughter of Mr. Joseph Bedford Beatty and Mrs. Hulda Long Beatty, both deceased. She was a former employee of Margaret's in Burlington and a member of Front Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Lynn Hines Barrow of Raleigh; two sons, Mr. William H. 'Bill' Hines and Mr. Curtis E. Hines, both of Raleigh; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Ben Cox. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thomspon Mortuary in Burlington from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Bemis C. Cheek
GRAHAM - Mrs. Bemis Core Cheek, 90, 779 Woody Drive, died at 1:41 a.m. Sunday, July 26, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was formerly of East Parker Street.
A native of Alamance County, she was the husband of the late Mr. Paul Eugene Cheek and the daughter of Mr. P.B. Core and Mrs. Clara Shatterly Core, both deceased. She was retired from Cannon Mills and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Graham.
Survivors include two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Mr. Hal Duane Cheek.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Paul Phillips, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Graham. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and at other times at the home of Mrs. Jackie Farmer, 609 Seymour St., Graham.
Mr. Sanders Parker
CEDAR GROVE - Mr. Sanders Parker, 75, died Friday, July 24, 1998, at his home.
Born Aug. 26, 1922, in Orange County, he was the husband of Mrs. Janet D. Jones Parker, who survives, and the son of Mr. Thedore Parker and Mrs. Lela Torain Parker, both deceased. He was a retired farmer and a retired forklfit operator for Levine Scarp Metal Co. He was a member of Lattisville Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hurdle Mills.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include four daughters, Ms. Stella Delois Rogers, Ms. Rosa Marie Parker, and Ms. Lela Marchell Copeland, all of Cedar Grove, and Ms. Phyllis Denise Holt of Mebane; five sons, Mr. Theadore Eugene Parker and Mr. William Sanders Parker, both of Cedar Grove, Mr. Gary Lee Parker of Hillsborough, Mr. Jerome Keith Parker of Haw River, and Mr. Jamie Fitzgerald Parker of Green Level; two brothers, Mr. James Parker of Cedar Grove and Mr. Charlie Parker of Burlington; 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Mr. Hubert Parker.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lattisville Grove Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Lindsay Baskett. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Julian P. Cheek
YANCEYVILLE - Mr. Julian P. 'Pick' Cheek, 71, of 321 Parkway Drive, died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at his home after several months of failing health, several weeks critical.
Born March 15, 1927, in Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Maye Walker Cheek, who survives, and the son of Mr. Charlie P. Cheek and Mrs. Brittie Carden Cheek, both deceased. He was retired from the Caswell County EMS and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three sons, Mr. Julian P. 'Jay' Cheek Jr. of Greensboro, and Mr. Eric Cheek and Mr. Jerry Cheek, both of Yanceyville; one sister, Ms. Gladys C. Wiles of Yanceyville; and one brother, Mr. Edgar Cheek of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hooper Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Powell. Burial will at Yanceyville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 this evening and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Marian B. Wilcox
ROXBORO - Mrs. Marian Burns Wilcox, 69, of 217 N. Morgan St., died Wednesday, July 22, 1998.
A native of Ithaca, N.Y., she was the daughter of Mr. John C. Burns and Mrs. Marion Sullivan Burns, both deceased. She was a graduate of Ithaca College and taught 15 years in the Spencer Van Etten School System before she retired.
Survivors include four daughters, Ms. Linda Wilcox of Stamford, Conn., Ms. Mary Padgett of Cincinnati, Ms. Marcia Brandon of Roxboro, and Ms. Julie Wilcox of Burlington; one son, Mr. Michael R. Wilcox of Ottawa Hills, Ohio; two brothers, Mr. John C. Burns and Robert M. Burns, both of Ithaca, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ms. Clare Burns Conley.
A memorial service will be conducted Aug. 16, 1998, in Ithaca, N.Y. The family will be at the home of Ms. Julie Wilcox, 408 Homewood Ave., Burlington.

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Virginia Shepherd Glosson, 76, of 521 Tarleton Ave., died at 11:08 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 1998, at White Oak Manor after a long illness.
Born Nov. 12, 1921, in Alamance County, she was the wife for 56 years of Mr. Henry B. Glosson Jr., who survives, and the daughter of Mr. B. Ira Shepherd and Mrs. Alice Lee Dixon Shepherd Chrismon, both deceased. She was a graduate of E.M. Holt High School and attended Elon College and Alamance Community College. She was a charter member of First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she was youth teacher and teacher of the Ladies' Bible Class.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Curtis R. (Emily G.) Roderick of Cape Carteret; two sons, the Rev. H.B. Glosson of Wilmington and Dr. George E. Glosson of Morehead City; two sisters, Mrs. W. Vernon (Cleo S.) Pickard of Burlington and Mrs. Jim (Lottie S.) Greeson of Asheboro; two brothers, Mr. Donald I. Shepherd and Mr. Harold L. Shepherd, both of Burlington; two grandchildren; and a step grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Tim Robinson, pastor, and the Rev. Peter Kemeny. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
