Mrs. Helen Richardson
GIBSONVILLE - Mrs. Helen Haney Richardson, 82, of 201 Cobb St., died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at her home after four months of failing health.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of Mr. Charles A. Richardson, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. John Haney and Mrs. Maggie Wilkins Haney, both deceased. She formerly worked at Liberty Finance. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Gibsonville, where she was a member of Fidelity Sunday School Class.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a son, Mr. Lacy A. Huffman Jr. of Delray Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Pauline H. House; and two brothers, Mr. Fred Haney and Mr. Ernest Haney.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jim Smyrl, pastor of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, and the Rev. Jonathan Freeman, pastor of Springwood Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Gibsonville City Cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 5 to 7 Saturday evening, and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Guilford County, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27405.

Mrs. Mary Jones
LIBERTY - Mrs. Mary “Lizzie” Jones, 82, of 5813 Cobles Church Road, died Thursday morning, Feb. 4, 1999, at Starmount Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of Mr. Preston Jones, who survives. She was employed with Neese’s Sausages for more than 40 years.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Shelby Curtis Allred of Snow Camp and Mrs. Diane Curtis Mincey of Tabor City; four stepsons, Mr. Douglas Jones of Greensboro, Mr. David Jones of Randleman, Mr. Ernie Jones of Climax and Mr. Bennie Jones of Liberty; a sister, Ms. Pearl Jobe of Greensboro; three grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Liberty by the Rev. Steve Loy. Burial will be in Cobles Lutheran Church cemetery.
The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening.

Mrs. Ruth T. Thomas
SNOW CAMP - Mrs. Annie Ruth Thacker Thomas, 79, of N.C. 87 South, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Sunrise Health Care in Hillsborough after several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Norman Woodrow Thomas and the daughter of Mr. James Harold Thacker and Mrs. Betty McPherson Thacker, both deceased. She was a retired textile worker. She was a member of Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Deborah T. Wilson of Saxapahaw; a son, Mr. James “Bo” Thomas of Mebane; a sister, Mrs. Alice Smith of Burlington; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Moore’s Chapel cemetery by the Rev. Doug Durham.
There will be no visitation.
McClure Funeral Home in Mebane is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lindsay Moore
REIDSVILLE - Mr. Lindsay Moore, 76, of 2531 Iron Works Road, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
A native of Rockingham County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Florene Carter Moore and the son of Mr. Johnson W. Moore and Mrs. Orpha Knight Moore, both deceased. He was a retired tobacco farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Kitty Moore of Reidsville; two sons, Mr. David L. Moore of Burlington and Mr. Wayne Moore of Reidsville; a sister, Ms. Edna Pearman of Summerfield; four brothers, Mr. Fred Moore of Stokesdale, and Mr. Jim Moore, Mr. Harvey Moore and Mr. J.W. Moore, all of Reidsville; a grandchild; two step grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Mr. Ernest R. Moore and Mr. Jon W. Moore; and a brother, Mr. Ottis Moore.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sharon Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Sharon Baptist Church from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mr. Charlie A. Wells
GREENSBORO - Mr. Charles A. “Charlie” Wells, 73, of 1 Ashton Court, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Lake Mackintosh Park.
A native of Greensboro, he was the husband for 49 years to Mrs. Nancy Beam Funderburk Wells, who survives, and the son of Mr. Archie W. Wells and Mrs. Ola S. Wells, both deceased. He was a graduate of Greensboro High School and participated in the U.S. Navy V-12 program during World War II, served as a midshipman at Columbia University and was commissioned an ensign when he was 19. After discharge from the Navy, he completed requirements for a degree in mechanical engineering from N.C. State. His professional life was spent with Bell Laboratories. He worked in North Carolina, New Jersey and Kwajalien in the Marshall Islands. He retired from Bell Labs as a member of the technical staff. He was a member of the Appalachian Trail Conference and the Piedmont Appalachian Trail Hikers. He was a member of the North Carolina Society of Engineers and was a registered professional engineer in North Carolina.
Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Mr. Charles A. “Chip” Wells Jr. of Greensboro and Dr. Andrew H. Wells of Flat Rock; a sister, Mrs. Martha Wells Haworth of High Point; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 1300 Jefferson Road, Greensboro by the Rev. James T. Prevatte. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry, North Elm Street Chapel, from 3 to 5 this afternoon, and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Piedmont Environmental Center, 1220 Penny Road, High Point, N.C. 27265.

Mrs. Tommie T. King
CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Tommie T. King, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.
Survivors include a sister, Ms. Lummie T. Weathers of Burlington.
The funeral was conducted Monday in Gastonia.

Mr. Robert M. Fowler
BURLINGTON - Mr. Robert M. Fowler, 80, of 614 Rosenwald St., died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in Alamance County after a sudden illness.
A native of Warren County, Ga., he was the husband of Mrs. Evelyn Gilliam Fowler, who survives, and the son of Mr. Robert Fowler and Mrs. Martha Upsher Fowler, both deceased. He was employed in sanitation and was a member of First Baptist Church on Apple Street.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Ms. Angelette Denise Gore of Alexandria, Va.; three brothers, Mr. Leroy Fowler and Mr. Hollis Folwer, both of Detroit, and Mr. Waymon Fowler of Burlington; five sisters, Mrs. Susie Mae Fowler, Mrs. Martha Barnes and Mrs. Honey Faith Murdock, all of Burlington, Mrs. Mary Alice Leath and Ms. Mary Jane Miles, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church on Apple Street. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the church 30 minutes before the service.
Blackwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mildred Thompson
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Mildred Holt Thompson, 80, of 1207 Avondale Drive, died Friday, March 5, 1999, in Alamance County after a long illness.

Mrs. Beulah G. Rippey
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Beulah Gray Rippey, 81, of 1107 N. Anthony St., died at 3:40 p.m. Friday, March 5, 1999, at her home.
Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

Ms. Emma H. Martin
MEBANE - Ms. Emma Jane Hamlett Martin, 53, of 710 N. Carr St., Apt. 2, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at her home after a sudden illness.
A native of Danville, Va., she was the daughter of Mr. Glinny Hamlett and Mrs. Vivian Piner Hamlett, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Wendy Martin of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sons, Mr. Jerry Martin of Graham and Mr. Clinton Haymore of Danville; two sisters, Mrs. Joyce McAllister of Maine and Mrs. Faye Yates of Danville; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, and at other times at the home or Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Martin, 1508 Darrell Drive, Lot 37, Graham.

Mrs. Mary E. Craven
GRAHAM - Mrs. Mary Ellen “Eileen” Craven, 92, of 1610 Wedgewood Drive, died at 6:19 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of New York, N.Y., she was the wife of the late Mr. Maurice Craven and the daughter of Mr. Jeremiah O’Brien and Mrs. Anna McNamara O’Brien, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Carol Ann Thallemer of Chicago; a son, Mr. Matthew Joseph Craven Sr. of the home; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Kevin Maurice Craven; two sisters, Ms. Cecelia Neary and Ms. Anna O’Brien; a brother, Mr. James O’Brien; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by the Rev. Briant Cullinane, OFM Conv.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening.

Mr. Clyde Murphy Jr.
MEBANE - Mr. Clyde Murphy Jr., 81, of Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Archdale, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital after a brief period of failing health. He was formerly of 309 W. McKinley St., Mebane.
Born Jan. 29, 1918, in Durham, he was the husband of Mrs. Rachel Allen Murphy, who survives, and the son of Mr. Clyde Murphy Sr. and Mrs. Lillie Eubanks Murphy, both deceased. He was retired after 45 years of service from Dixie Yarns of Mebane. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Aleutian Islands, and a member of the Quarter Century Club of Dixie Yarns. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mebane, where he was a deacon and served as secretary of the Sunday school junior department for 25 years.
Survivors other than his wife of Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center include three daughters, Mrs. Sandra Murphy Setzer of Lenoir, Mrs. Brenda Murphy Bowlin of Trinity and Mrs. Kay Murphy lewis of Dillon, S.C.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ms. Ella Murphy, Ms. Della Murphy and Ms. Lillie Mae Murphy; and two brothers, Mr. Julius Murphy and Mr. Odell Murphy.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Mebane by Dr. Charles Fleshman Jr., Dr. Charles R. Lemley and the Rev. Marvin Simpson. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will be at Walker Funeral Home of Mebane from 7 to 9 this evening and at other times at the home of Ms. Marie Murphy, 408 W. Lee St., Mebane.
