Mr. Harry L. Bowling
GIBSONVILLE - Mr. Harry L. Bowling, 86, of 215 N.C. 100, died at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at his home.
A native of Amherst, Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Helen Thayer Bowling, who survives, and the son of Mr. Harry M. Bowling and Mrs. Maggie Moore Bowling, both deceased. He was a retired industrial arts teacher at Gibsonville and Jamestown high schools. A graduate of N.C. State University, he was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Gibsonville Lions Club. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elon College.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a sister, Miss Maggie Bowling of Eden.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Rich and Thompson Chapel by the Rev. Norman Harris of First Baptist Church of Elon College. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 this evening.

Mr. Theophilus Wilson
WILSON - Mr. Theophilus “Red” Hicks Wilson, 88, of 3444 McDade Road, Burlington, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was formerly of 119 Adams St., Cary.
Born Sept. 1, 1910, in Vance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Alice Hock Wilson, and the son of Mr. George E. Wilson and Mrs. Lucy Catherine Adcock Wilson, both deceased. He was retired from Watco Corp., and he was a member of Woodmen of the World. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Katie W. Harding of Burlington; a brother, Mr. George E. Wilson Jr. of Midlothian, Va.; two sisters, Ms. Odell Pulley of Sneads Ferry and Ms. Iris Baker of Scarborough, Ontario; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ms. Rose W. O’Neal; a brother, Mr. Alvin “Buddy” Wilson; and two sisters, Ms. Lindell Rainey and Ms. Oneita Wilson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Raleigh Memorial Park.
The family will be at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary from 1 to 3 Monday afternoon.

Mr. Max A. Kerr Jr.
WHITSETT - Mr. Max Alvin Kerr Jr., 62, of 1925 Homeview Road, died at 10:51 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Elkhart, Ind., he was the husband of Mrs. Marjorie Atwood Kerr, who survives, and the son of Mr. Max Alvin Kerr Sr. and Mrs. Ethel Hanes Kerr, both deceased. He was a custodian at Grove Park Elementary School.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three daughters, Mrs. Mary Adams of Greensboro, Mrs. Maureen Orcutt of Fremont, Mich., and Miss Melinda Kerr of Ludington, Mich.; three sons, Mr. Max Andrew Kerr III of Burlington, Mr. Michael Alvin Kerr of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mr. Mitchell Allen Kerr of Newaygo, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Jean Sage of Newaygo, Mrs. Nina Wiggins of Florida and Mrs. Elizabeth McCrary, Fla.; a brother, Mr. Jack Kerr of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
There will be no service.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Burlington from 5 to 8 this evening and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Bessie B. Joyner
REIDSVILLE - Mrs. Bessie Brown Joyner, of Sunbridge Healthcare Center, died Saturday morning, Aug. 21, 1999, at the center. She was formerly of 1015 Ware St., Reidsville.
A native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, she was a retiree of the American Tobacco Co. She was a member of the West End Community Flower Club and Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles H. (Marcell Joyner) Neal of Reidsville; three brothers, Mr. Walter Frank Brown and Mr. Kelly Edward Brown, both of Reidsville, and Mr. James Rosevelt Brown of Yanceyville; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church by Dr. Joseph T. Walker. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Johnson and Sons Funeral Home in Reidsville from 7 to 7:30 Monday evening and at other times at 1009 Ware St., Reidsville.
Mr. Richard Brown Sr.
RUFFIN - Mr. Richard Daniel Brown Sr., of 11500 N.C. 158, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Sunbridge of the Triad in High Point.
A native of Swainsboro, Ga., he was the husband of Mrs. Liza Mae Watlington Brown, who survives. He had resided in Ruffin for the majority of his adult life. He was a retiree of Cone Mills Corp. and was a farmer. He was a member of New Ephesus Baptist Church, where he served in the Senior Choir.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include eight daughters, Mrs. Carolean B.M. Withers, Mrs. James (Gloria B.) Galloway and Mrs. Dennis (Teresa B.) Dones, all of Reidsville, Mrs. Samuel (Maxine B.) Russell and Ms. Calandra P. Brown, all of the home, Mrs. Don (Jennifer B.) Bigelow of Fayetteville, Mrs. Theodore (Evelina B.) Bennett of Danville, Va., and Mrs. Michael (Amy B.) Payton of Greensboro; three sons, Mr. Earl Edward Brown of Ruffin, Mr. Richard D. Brown of Yanceyville, and Mr. Jerry L. Brown of Eden; and a brother, Mr. Willie Ernest Brown of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at New Ephesus Baptist Church by the Rev. William E. Lee. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. George W. Faison
GOLDSBORO - Mr. George William Faison, 78, of Goldsboro, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at Guardian Care Nursing Home.
A native of Mt. Olive, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Rose Trifiletti Faison and the son of Mr. George B. Faison and Mrs. Inez Flowers Faison, both deceased. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines and the Army Air Corps, where he was an Air Transport Control Specialist and a member of the Special Services. He was retired from the U.S. government as a developer and supervisor in its IBM and data processing program in Washington, D.C. He was a past member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Olive and was a member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Rose Marie) Westbrook of Goldsboro; a brother, Mr. Kenneth F. Faison of Burlington; and a grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Maplewood cemetery by Dr. Alfred Wright.
The family will be at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro from 7 to 9 this evening and at other times at the home of the daughter, 608 Arrowpoint Drive, Goldsboro.

Mr. Rodney D. Morrow
BURLINGTON - Mr. Rodney Dale Morrow, 48, of Fowler Trail, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999, at his home after a long illness.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Vickie Fowler Morrow, who survives, and the son of Mr. William Morrow and Mrs. Jamina Warren Morrow, who both survive. He was a member of Faith Christian Center in Whitsett.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and parents of Burlington include two daughters, Miss Tara Morrow of Graham and Miss Keither Morrow of Burlington; a son, Mr. Rodney Barclay Morrow of Burlington; four sisters, Ms. Deborah Morrow, Mrs. Elvira M. Harris, Mrs. Michele M. Hawkins and Mrs. Cheryl M. Lee, all of Burlington; and a brother, Mr. Earl Warren of White Plains, N.Y.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Christian Center in Whitsett by Pastor Roger Medlin and the Rev. Nicholas Hawkins. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in North Lawn cemetery in Burlington.
The body may be viewed at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday.
The family will be at the church 30 minutes before the service.
Mr. Edward L. Hall
BURLINGTON - Mr. Edward Lee Hall, 67, of 711 Kenwood Drive, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at Skilled Nursing Division of Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Peggy Jenkins Hall, who survives, and the son of Mr. Alfred Franklin Hall and Mrs. Mary Morene Hall, both deceased. He retired in 1991 from AT&T after 40 years of service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Vickie) Coon of Graham; a son, Mr. Craig Hall of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Isley of Graham; two brothers, Mr. William C. Hall and Mr. Wilson Hall, both of Burlington; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ms. Bernice Shelton and Ms. Mildred Frizzell; and three brothers, Mr. Clinton Hall, Mr. Alton Hall and Mr. Allie Hall..
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bennie Smith, pastor of Staley Memorial Baptist Church, and the Rev. Gene B. Ferrell, pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Brenda T. Faucette
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Brenda Carol Tinnin Faucette, 51, of 521 S. Beaumont Ave., died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Mrs. Willie Mae Tinnin, who survives, and the late Mr. Floyd Dixon. She was a 1966 graduate of Jordan Sellars High School and was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her mother of Burlington include a daughter, Miss Robyn Faucette of the home; a son, Mr. Jerry Faucette of Burlington; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maple Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry W. Raleigh, pastor, and the Rev. William Jones. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Jessie Baker
CAROL CITY, Fla. - Mrs. Jessie May Rector Baker, 61, of Carol City, formerly of Burlington, died.

Mr. Richard L. Tidwell III
HALEDON, N.J. - Mr. Richard L. Tidwell III, 21, of Haledon, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Beth Israel Hospital in Passaic, N.J.
A native of Paterson, N.J., he was the son of Mrs. Dolores Shabrack and Mr. Richard L. Tidwell Jr., who both survive. He lived in Prospect Park, N.J., and Sussex, N.J., before moving to Haledon a year ago. He was a clerk employed by National Health Care Association in Fairfield, N.J. He had previously been a cashier at Shop-Rite in Wayne, N.J.
Survivors other than his mother of Snow Camp and father of Haw River include stepmother, Mrs. Sylvia Tidwell; stepfather, Mr. Karen Shabrack; a sister, Ms. Kelly Ann Tidwell Vides of Garfield, N.J.; grandfathers, Mr. Richard Tidwell Sr. of Burlington and Mr. Robert Todd of Prospect Park; grandmothers, Ms. Doris Tidwell Strickland of Paterson and Ms. Joan Meglio of Haledon; three stepsisters, Ms. Michelle Prince of Burlington, Ms. Jackie Carlson of Gastonia and Ms. April Caulder of Elon College; stepbrother, Mr. Nicholas Shabrack; step grandmothers, Ms. Nadine Tidwell and Ms. Eunice Morris, both of Burlington, and Ms. Joan Thomas Todd of Prospect Park; and step grandfathers, Mr. Jerry Meglio of Haledon and Mr. Richard Strickland of Paterson.
The funeral will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at DeLuccia-Lozito Funeral Home in Haledon with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Prospect Park. Burial will be in Laurel Grove cemetery in Totowa.
The family will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
