Mr. William F. Richmond
MEBANE - Mr. William Fairley “Bill” Richmond, 80, of 721 S. Fifth St., died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Duke University Medical Center after an illness of three days.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Annie Odessa Williams Richmond, who survives, and the son of Mr. Thomas Bethel Richmond and Mrs. Maggie Murray Richmond, both deceased. He was a retired employee of Flav-O-Rich in Burlington and was employed for more than 40 years with Melville Dairy and retired as plant manager. He was a lifetime member of Mebane Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Mebane Exchange Club.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Linda Richmond Duffer of Greensboro; a son, Mr. Harry Dale Richmond of Mebane; a brother, Mr. Ernest Richmond of Mebane; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild; and seven brothers and sisters.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mebane Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Allen Huff and Dr. Ed Donnell. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6:30 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mr. Wiliam Reives Jr.
SANFORD - Mr. William “Kip” Reives Jr., 36, of Sanford, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, in Sanford after a sudden illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. William M. Reives Sr., who survives, and the late Mrs. Alma Ross Keck Reives. He attended Sanford Central High School and North Carolina A&T State University.
Survivors include his father of Sanford.

Mr. Robert Murphy
PELHAM - Mr. Robert Murphy of 1557 Mineral Springs Road, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, in Danville Regional Medical Center in Danville, Va.
Born Oct. 10, 1922 in Kinston, he was the husband of Mrs. Estella Henderson Murphy who survives, and the son of Mr. James Murphy and Mrs. Katie Mae Kensey Murphy, both deceased. He was a member of Antioch Free Will Baptist Church in Kinston, and was retired from Cone Mills Edna Plant in Reidsville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include five sons, Mr. Archie Henderson of Pelham, Mr. Robert Murphy II of Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Robert Murphy III and Mr. Randy Murphy, both of Greensboro, and Mr. Ronnie Murphy of Burlington; five daughters, Mrs. Theon Withers and Mrs. Ora Whitehead, both of Reidsville, Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Parker of Elon College, Mrs. Zenobia Johnson of Danville and Mrs. Lynette Graves of Pelham; and grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Red Hill Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Fulton Funeral Home this evening from 7 to 8, and at other times at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Theon Withers, Dalaney Road, Reidsville.
Mr. Walter K. Oldham
DURHAM - Mr. Walter Kent Oldham, 78, of 532 N. Mangum St., died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Durham County.
Born Nov. 20, 1920, in Orange County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Pansy Freeland Oldham and the son of Mr. Otho W. Oldham and Mrs. Nancy B. Oldham, both deceased. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a carpenter and construction worker.
Survivors include a sister, Ms. Beulah O. Hoover of Mebane; four brothers, Mr. Dalton Fairfax Oldham of Graham, Mr. Samuel Alvis Oldham of Mebane, Mr. Jimmy B. Oldham of Leland and Mr. Roger W. Oldham of Leasburg.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Harry Warner Oldham and Mr. William Thomas Oldham.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by the Rev. Eugene Schenicks, pastor of Mebane Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in Fairfield Church cemetery.
The family will be at Walker’s Funeral Home in Mebane from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of the sister, 319 Hoover Road, Mebane.
Mr. Gwyn E. Bullis
BURLINGTON - Mr. Gwyn E. Bullis, 65, of 1239 Southern High School Road, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at his home after three years of failing health, five months critical.
A native of Wilkes County, he was the husband of Mrs. Geraline “Gerry” Cranford Bullis, who survives, and the son of Mr. John Mack Bullis and Mrs. Pansy Ferguson Bullis, both deceased. He was the owner and operator of Bullis Upholstery. He was a former member of the Mountain View Ruritan Club and served in the National Guard. He was involved in the restoration of antique cars. He was a member of Trinity Worship Center.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, the Rev. Michael E. Bullis of Greensboro and Mr. Jimmy L. Bullis of Graham; three sisters, Mrs. Calvin (Pauline) Smith of Burlington, Mrs. Edward (Nina) Kimball of Elon College and Mrs. Betty Jean Wood of Boomer; a brother, Mr. Lonnie Bullis of Wilkesboro; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Mr. Harvey Bullis, Mr. Roy Bullis, Mr. Artie Bullis and Mr. Albert Bullis.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Worship Center by the Rev. Darrell E. Cox, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.

Mr. Curtis W. Vest
BURLINGTON - Mr. Curtis Wilson Vest, 83, formerly of Burlington, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at Meadowbrook Manor in Durham after five years of failing health, one day critical.
A native of Stokes County, he was the husband of Mrs. Bobbie Morris-Vest, who survives, and the son of Mr. Craven Vest and Mrs. Cornelia Rierson Vest, both deceased. He was retired from Copland Fabrics and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Bob (Charlie) Moffett of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Opal Vest Wicker of Liberty; a half brother, Mr. A.V. Murray of Burlington; and one step grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grove Park Baptist Church by the Rev. Eugene Hunsinger, pastor, Dr. Roy P. Taylor, pastor emeritus, and the Rev. Bob Stephenson, associate pastor of Glen Hope Baptist Church.
The family will be at the church from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. before the service.

Mrs. Lillian W. Lankford
GRAHAM - Mrs. Lillian Waller Williams Lankford, 83, of 3072 Swepsonville-Saxapahaw Road, died at 2:02 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after six years of failing health.
A native of Carroll County, Va., she was the daughter of Mr. Robert Waller and Mrs. Lillie May Swiney Waller, both deceased. She was retired from Sellars Manufacturing Co.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Hiatt of Martinsville, Va.; two sons, Mr. James Thomas Williams of Graham and Mr. Richard Darrell Williams of Roxboro; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Linda Aiken of Haw River; two stepsons, Mr. Johnny Lankford of Richmond, Va., and Mr. Delmar Lankford of Mebane; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; one great-step grandchild; and one great-great-step grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Norman Fargis.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 12:30 to 1:30 today.
Mrs. Rachel W. Mills
GRAHAM - Mrs. Rachel Williams Mills, 90, of Presbyterian Home of Hawfields in Mebane, died at 6:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields after three years of failing health.
A native of Sampson County, she was the wife of the late Mr. William Roscoe Mills and the daughter of Mr. Thomas Henry Williams and Mrs. Rebecca Wilkins Williams, both deceased. She was retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Graham and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include a brother, Mr. A. Fred Williams of Grandy.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham one hour before the service.

Mrs. Sherbydean C. Watkins
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Sherbydean C. Watkins, 36, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews.
She was the wife of Mr. Wayne Watkins, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Rudy Crisp Jr. and Mrs. Eugenia Crisp, who both survive. She was employed at First Union National Bank.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and parents of Burlington include a daughter, Ms. Sheridan C. Watkins; two brothers, Mr. Gray L. Crisp and Mr. Wesley Crisp, both of Mebane; a sister, Ms. Jennifer Crisp of Burlington; and grandparents Mr. Rudy Crisp Sr. and Mrs. Martha Miles Crisp, both of Mebane.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Mr. Preston Blackwell and Mrs. Caroline Blackwell.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Miles Chapel Baptist Church in Mebane by Pastor Bruce Hurst. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
The family will be at Blackwell Funeral Home in Burlington from 7 to 8 Saturday evening.

The Rev. Douglas W. Roberts
MEBANE - The Rev. Douglas Wayne Roberts, 41, of 4239 Mebane-Rogers Road, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at his home after a long illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Faye Roberts Roberts, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Nellie Johnson Mann Roberts Edmonds, who survives, and the late Mr. Otis Manley Roberts, both deceased. He was the youth pastor at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church for 16 years. He was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a member of the church choir, the Praise Trio and Sunday school teacher. He was a graduate of Alamance Christian School and Tennessee Temple University. He was director of Camp Deer Lake and was a soccer coach with the Burlington Recreation Department.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include mother and stepfather, Mr. Solomon “Ervin” Edmonds of Haw River; two sons, Mr. Joshua Wayne “Josh” Roberts and Mr. Jared Scott Roberts, both of the home; four brothers, Mr. Lynn Roberts of Greensboro, Mr. Andy Mann of Wilmington, Mr. Steve Mann of Fontana, Calif., and the Rev. Mike Mann of Sylvania, Ga.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church by Dr. Tommy Willis, pastor, and the Rev. Tom Worley, assistant pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
Pastors, youth pastors, youth and former youth members and deacons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
