Mr. Frederick A. Newnam
ELON COLLEGE - Mr. Frederick Allyn Newnam, 46, of 2352 Drew Lane, died at 10:48 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a short illness.
A native of Elmer, N.J., he was the husband of Mrs. Pamela Sue Duggins Newnam, who survives, and the son of Mr. James LeRoy Newnam Sr. and Mrs. Nancy Gravenstine Newnam, who both survive. He was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and parents of Port Deposit, Md., include two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Whitfield of Easton, Md., and Mrs. Shanna Lee Cole of Goldsborough, Md.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Leigh-Anna Franks of Burlington; a stepson, Mr. Kevin Lee Bishop Franks of Graham; two brothers, Mr. James L. Newnam Jr. of Easton and Mr. Mark D. Newnam of Greensboro; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon Friday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Easton.

Mr. Marvin Bradshaw
BURLINGTON - Mr. Marvin Bradshaw, 73, of 714 Bland Blvd., died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Erwin, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Erlenia Avery Bradshaw and the son of Mr. George Thomas Bradshaw and Mrs. Mary Carr Bradshaw, both deceased. He was retired from AT&T and was a U.S. Naval Coast Guard veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Pamela Bradshaw Godwin of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Roena Fisher of High Point; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ms. Lois Whittington and Ms. Annie Lee Tart; and three brothers, Mr. Jesse Bradshaw, Mr. Ernest Bradshaw and Mr. Frank Bradshaw.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Tim Taylor, pastor of Powerline Church of the Nazarene.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 1 to 2:30 Friday afternoon, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Peggy S. Gaynor
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Peggy Sykes Gaynor, 49, of 1111 Stonewall St., died at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at her home after an illness of four and a half months.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Roy Lee Gaynor, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. William Lawrence Sykes, who survives, and the late Mrs. Frances Williams Sykes. She was employed by Ametek and was a Presbyterian.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and father of Siler City include stepmother, Mrs. Colleen Sykes of Siler City; two sisters, Mrs. Jonnie Sykes Ellington of Graham and Mrs. Terry (Lynn Sykes) Abee of Mocksville; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Dorothy Williams of Graham; stepdaughter, Mrs. Luann Gaynor Edwards of Roanoke Rapids; and stepson, Mr. Roy Lee Gaynor Jr. of Garrett, Va.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Lonnie Barnes. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham from 7 to 8:30 this evening, and at other times at the home of Mrs. Jonnie S. Ellington, 1528 Rogers Road, Graham.

Mrs. Nancy L. Hodges
CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Nancy Law Hodges, 87, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte after a long illness. She was formerly of Rocky Mount.
Born in 1912 in Franklin County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Peter Ben Hodges and the daughter of Mr. Jesse Ben Law and Mrs. Beulah Law, both deceased. She was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church and Rocky Mount Chapter No. 141 Order of the Eastern Star. She lived in Rocky Mount until 1994, when she moved to Charlotte.
Survivors include nieces, one of whom lives in Burlington, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Chapel by Dr. Joe Bryant of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Park.
The family will be at Flora Funeral Service from 6 to 8 this evening.
Mrs. Bonnie Jo Coble Barnhardt
GREENSBORO - Mrs. Bonnie Jo Coble Barnhardt, 53, of 1010 Grayland St., died Saturday morning, Nov. 13, 1999, at her home.
A native of Alamance County, she is the daughter of Mr. William Fred Coble and Mrs. Sudie Fulk Coble of Burlington, who survive. She was employed with the Greensboro News & Record and formerly employed at the Burlington Times-News and the Alamance News. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors other than her parents include two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Qualls of Burlington and Mrs. Patricia Davis of Gibsonville; and a brother, Mr. James A. Coble of San Antonio, Texas.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Rainey Qualls, associate Pastor of Landmark Baptist Church.

Pastor Dale Franklin Watson
DANVILLE, Va. - Pastor Dale Franklin Watson, 53, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at his home after a long illness.
A native of Columbus County, he was the husband of Mrs. Mary B. Watson, who survive, s and the son of Mr. Dewey P. Watson of Mount Airy and the late Mrs. Inez P. Watson Bolt. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and attended Forsyth Tech in Winston-Salem. He was ordained in 1974 and spent 13 years as Pastor of New Hope Church of the Brethren and then 14 years as pastor of the First Church of the Brethren.
Survivors other than his wife and father include a daughter, Mrs. Cheryl Harrison of Ringgold, Va.; a son, Mr. Bryan Watson of Eden; three brothers, Mr. Bobby G. Watson, Mr. Clyde P. Watson and Mr. Gary S. Watson, all of Mount Airy; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Stuttes of Asheboro, Mrs. Susan DeVoe and Ms. Jeanie Bolt, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; a stepmother, Mrs. Martha Watson of Mount Airy; a stepfather, Mr. Kenneth Bolt of Jacksonville, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mrs. Tracy Lott.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart by the Revs. Harry Shelton, Danny Giley, Ricky Berkley and Marvin Wade. Burial will be at Oakdale cemetery in Mount Airy.

Mrs. Nellie Knowles Danford
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Nellie Knowles Danford, 76, of 2523 Hyde St., died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
A native of Duplin County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Ephriam Bryant Danford, and the daughter of Mr. Ivey Graham Knowles and Mrs. Janie Fussell Knowles, both deceased. She was the owner and operator of Danford’s Florist for 27 years. She was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church anda the American Business Women’s Association, the Order of Eastern Star and the Altrusa Club.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Roy Graham Danford and Mr. William Earl Danford, both of Burlington; one brother, Mr. Marvin Earl Knowles of Rose Hill; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Mr. Ivey Roy Knowles.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rich and Thompson Chapel, Burlington by the Rev. Dan Bartell, pastor of Northside Presbyterian Church, and by Mr. J.C. Knowles. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. Billie Sauls
SILER CITY - Mr. Billie Sauls, 71, of 2065 Mount Vernon Hickory Mount Church Road, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at his home.
A native of La Grange, he was the husband of Mrs. Margaret Johnson Sauls, who survives. He was retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation. He was a member of South Fork Friends Church and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Connor of Kinston and Ms. Merry Christmas Sauls of Siler City; two step-daughters, Ms. Linda Beal of Lexington and Ms. Dottie Ward of Graham; one stepson, Mr. Van Johnson of Graham; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at South Fork Friends Church, 359 Fork-Bethel Road, Snow Camp by the Rev. Jon Reece. Burial will be at South Fork Friends Cemetery.

Mr. J. P. Jenrette
CHARLOTTE - Mr. J.P. Jenrette, 85, a resident of the Wilora Lake Heath Care, died Friday evening, May 28, 1999, at the Wilora Lake Health Care. He was a former resident of Robeson County.
Born Feb. 10, 1914, in Robeson County, he was the husband of Mrs. Alice Crowe Jenrette, who survives, and the son of Mr. William Thomas Jenrette and Mrs. Sibyl Oliver Jenrette, both deceased. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Asheville. He was a retired marketing supervisor with the Department of Agriculture.
Survivors other than his wife of Plant City, Fla., include three sons, Mr. William Thomas Jenrette of Asheville, Mr. Julius Poe Jenrette Jr. of Burlington and Mr. James Robert Jenrette of Atlanta; a daughter, Ms. Betty Jenrette Brafford of Charlotte; a brother, Mr. Thomas Shepard Jenrette of Galax, Va.; and eight grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Olivet United Methodist Church in Marietta by the Rev. Deborah Watson. Burial was in the church cemetery.
