Mrs. Burlie S. Long
HILLSBOROUGH - Mrs. Burlie Simpson Long, 79, of Hillsborough, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at her home.
Born April 2, 1918, in Person County, she was the wife of the late Mr. George Jerry Simpson and Mr. Robert Long. She was the daughter of Mr. Eugene Bradsher and Mrs. Martha Bradsher, both deceased. She was a member of Dickerson Chapel AME Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Bernice Simpson of the home and Ms. Robin Clisteen Simpson of Pensacola, Fla; one son, Mr. Ronald Simpson of Hillsborough; one sister, Ms. Mary Bradsher of Hillsborough; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chavis-Parker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Crestmont Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, preceding the service.
Mr. David A. Franklin
GRAHAM - Mr. David Artus Franklin, 72, of 4424 N.C. 54, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at Brian Nursing Center in Yanceyville.
Born Nov. 20, 1925 in Bumcombe County, he was the husband of Mrs. Frances Ray Franklin who survives, and the son of Mr. Ben Hurbert Franklin and Mrs. Louarty Roberts Franklin, both deceased. He was a retired self-employed painter, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Methodist.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two stepdaughters, Mrs. Vy Stewart of Graham and Mrs. Vicki Hawkins of Yanceyville; two stepsons, Mr. Tommy Franklin of Richmond, Va. and Mr. Tony Franklin of Rocky Mount; two sisters, Mrs. Louella Crawford of Weaverville and Mrs. Ettabea Buckner of Fletcher; five brothers, Mr. Nelson Franklin and Mr. Joe Franklin, both of Alexander, Mr. Johnny Franklin of Louisville, Ky., Mr. Claude Franklin of Waverly, Iowa and Mr. Max Franklin of Detroit; four step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Hurbert Franklin.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Salem United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Benji Kelly, pastor.
The family will be at Mcclure Funeral Home in Graham from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mr. Dennis F. Rogers
BURLINGTON - Mr. Dennis F. Rogers, 62, of 643 Montgomery St., died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, after an illness of two months.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Ollie James Rogers and Mrs. Mary Lee Winstead Rogers, both deceased.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Mae Frances McCollum of the home and Mrs. Bessie Thompson of Burlington.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. William Dupree. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home 30 minutes before the service.
Mr. Everett G. Mogle
BURLINGTON - Mr. Everett Guthrie Mogle, 54, of 2704 Delaney Drive, died at 8:23 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Paula Whitesell Mogle, who survives, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Mogle, who survive. He was a graduate of the Realtors Institute. He was an instructor at Alamance Community College. He was the president of Everett G. Mogle and Co. and held real-estate seminars in this area. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and parents of Snow Camp, include a son, Mr. Henry F. Hilliard III of Burlington; a daughter, Mrs. Anjanette Greeson of Jacksonville, N.C.; a sister, Ms. Edie Mogle of Raleigh; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Concord United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jeanne Neal, pastor, and Dr. Guy Soule, pastor of Shiloh United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mr. P. Michael Tickle
BURLINGTON - Mr. Phillip Michael Tickle, 24, of 1110 W. Webb Ave., died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a one-week illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. David Michael Tickle and Mrs. Teresa Jones Tickle, who survive. He was a supervisor of B.D.S. Patient Services at LabCorp in Burlington. He was a 1991 graduate of Williams High School and a dean's-list student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro transfer program through Alamance Community College. He was a member of West Burlington Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his parents of Burlington include one sister, Miss Robin Sunshine 'Sunni' Tickle of Burlington; maternal grandparents, Mr. Leroy Clack and Mrs. Nellie Jones Clack of Danville, Va.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Mr. Aubrey 'Pete' Jones Sr.; paternal grandparents, Mr. Norman Tickle and Mrs. Edith Small Tickle.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Leroy Clack, pastor of The Vandola Baptist Church in Danville. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 9 this evening. At other times they will be at the home of the mother, 411 Laurel Hill Drive, Burlington, and the home of the father, 3117 Commerce Place, Apt. G., Burlington.

Mr. Larry J. Crumpton
GREENSBORO - Mr. Larry James Crumpton of 1015 Huffine Mill Road, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at his home.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Jessie M. Crumpton, who survives. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors other than his wife of Haw River include two daughters, Ms. Lisa Crumpton of Haw River and Ms. Theresa Annettee Crumpton of Graham; a brother, Mr. William Crumpton of Winston-Salem; and three sisters, Ms. Peggy Mosley of Greensboro, Ms. Jean Crumpton of New York City, and Ms. Ann Crumpton of Graham.
The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Hargett Memorial Chapel in Greensboro. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park.
The family will be at the funeral home 30 minutes before the service, and at other times at 1817 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Greensboro.
Mr. James R. Clegg
BALTIMORE - Mr. James Robert Clegg, 72, died at 11:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at Church Hospital in Baltimore after three years of failing health.
A native of Chatham County, he was the son of Mr. Henry Franklin Clegg and Mrs. Lula Harris Clegg, both deceased.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Dorcas Clegg Burnett and Mrs. Annie Clegg Trollinger, both of Graham.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Clegg Stone.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Woods Chapel AME Church on Woods Chapel Road, Graham by the Rev. H.B. Williams, pastor.

Mr. Thomas W. Dean
ELON COLLEGE - Mr. Thomas W. Dean, 67, of 2315 Barber Road, died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center after an illness of one year.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Evelyn Guinn Dean, who survives, and the son of Mr. William Roy Dean and Mrs. Kathleen Mann Dean, both deceased. He was retired from the Life of Virginia Insurance Company and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Walter B. Ellis Post and of Faith United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his wife include a son, Mr. Jeffery A. Dean of Clemmons; two sisters, Mrs. Peggy Brooks of Gibsonville and Mrs. Clara Crowson of Haw River; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Pearl Gossage.
A private memorial service will be held.
The family will be at the home.

Mr. David W. Beck
RALEIGH - Mr. David Winfred Beck, 92, of 428 Seasons Drive, died Wednesday night, Feb. 11, 1998, at Rex Hospital.
Born Oct. 1, 1905, in Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Minnie Metters Beck, who died June 23, 1984, and the son of Mr. David P. Beck and Mrs. Ada Lenora Dean Beck, both deceased. He had lived in High Point most of his life and had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years. He taught school at the Kernersville Wesleyan Academy for 20 years. He was a member of First Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include a son, Mr. W.D. Beck of Supply; a daughter, Mrs. Ada Canady of Raleigh; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Hemrick of Burlington and Mrs. Nellie Connally of Elon College; a brother, Mr. John Everett Beck of Miami; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cumby Eastchester Drive Chapel in High Point by the Rev. James Smith and the Rev. Carroll M. Upton. Burial and be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 this evening.
Mr. Ned Richmond
MEBANE - Mr. Ned Richmond, 80, of 505 S. Eighth St., died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Skilled Nursing Division of Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Annie Bell Johnson Richmond, who survives, and the son of Mr. Thomas Richmond and Mrs. Creasie Miles Richmond, both deceased. He was a retired brick mason and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mebane, where he was a Sunday school teacher, church trustee, choir member and a member of the budget committee.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Richmond Moore of Bowie, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Genevieve Morrow of Hillsborough; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Mebane by the Rev. John Davis. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 Saturday evening, and at other times at the home.

BURLINGTON - Ms. Nettie Katrine Moore of 412 Hall St. died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at her home.

Mr. Mark Komanetsky
MEBANE - Mr. Mark Richard Komanetsky, 44, of 3634 Cook St., died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 16, 1954, in Forestville, Conn., he was the son of Mr. Harry Komanetsky and Mrs. Joyce Ahlgren Komanetsky, who survive. He was a 1972 graduate of Bristol High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, assigned to the USS Midway in Japan and a self-employed construction worker. He was a Lutheran.
Survivors other than his parents of the home include three sisters, Ms. Kim Jones of Juno Beach, Fla., Ms. Jill Komanetsky of Mebane and Ms. Susan Septor of Graham.
The funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by Dr. Harold Terry, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church of Burlington.
The family will be at the home.
