Mrs. Betty Porter
GRAHAM - Mrs. Betty Rose Porter, 68, of 1247 Grove Lane, died at 5:09 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, after a critical illness of two weeks.
A native of McAdamsville, S.C., she was the wife of Mr. Floyd Porter, who survives, and the son of Mr. Roy Eugene Burrage and Mrs. Willie Mae Burrage, both deceased. She was retired from Universal Mills in Mebane and was a member of Swepsonville Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Briggs of the home; four sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Adams of Mobile, Ala., Mrs. Georgie Jones of Julian, Mrs. Faye Akins of Graham, Ala., and Mrs. Francis Cooke of Lexington; two brothers, Mr. Roger Burrage and Mr. Buddy Burrage; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Don Clement.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mr. Hurdle H. Lea Sr.
GREENSBORO - Mr. Hurdle H. Lea Sr., 84, of 147 W. Steeplechase Road, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Graybrier's Nursing Home in Trinity.
He was the husband of Mrs. Linda Lea, who survives, and the late Mrs. Mildred J. Lea. He was a co-founder, past president and retired in May of 1997 from Guy M. Turner Inc. after 51 years of service. He attended Duke University, where he played football and was a graduate of High Point College, where he was on the wrestling team. He coached wrestling at High Point High School and was the first football coach for Jamestown High School, now Ragsdale High School. He taught at Davidson Community College and was a member of the Jamestown Rotary Club. He attended Concord Friends Meeting.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include four sons, Mr. Hurdle H. Lea Jr. of Greenville, S.C., Mr. Michael David Lea of Thomasville, Mr. Rik Lea of High Point and Mr. Scott Lea of the home; two daughters, Ms. Sandra Smith Gore of Kernersville and Ms. Karen Smith Oxford of Archdale; two brothers, Mr. Arthur B. Lea Sr. of Jamestown and Mr. Alfred Lea of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives in Burlington.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Concord Friends Meeting with burial in Guilford Memorial Park.
The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry, Vanstory Chapel, from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of Mr. Rik Lea, 709 S. Scientific Road, High Point.

Mr. Joseph Fuller
MEBANE - Mr. Joseph Fuller of 2084 Haith-Fuller Trail, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Roney Fuller and Mrs. Mary Lee Holt Fuller, both deceased. He was a farmer and attended Miles Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Donna Fuller of Mebane; two brothers, Mr. Robert Fuller of Siler City and Mr. Thomas Fuller of Mebane; five sisters, Mrs. Clara Enoch of Durham, Mrs. Rachel Hester and Mrs. Eula E. Turner, both of Burlington, and Miss Annie Mae Ruth Fuller and Mrs. Alice Edwards, both of Raleigh.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Miles Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Bruce Hurst, pastor, and the Rev. Robert Jarrell. Burial will be in Snow Hill Primitive Baptist cemetery.
The family will be at the church one hour before the service, and at other times at the home.

Daniel L. Gallardo
BURLINGTON - Daniel Luis Gallardo, infant son of Mr. Alfredo Gallardo and Ms. Amber Dawn Smith, died at 1:49 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
He was a native of Orange County.
Survivors other than his parents of 1027 N. Graham-Hopedale Road, include his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mandy Alvarran of Burlington; maternal step grandfather, Mr. Octaviano Rodrigues Ramirez of Burlington; and maternal grandfather, Mr. Edward Smith of Mebane.
A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. today at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Burlington from 2 to 3:30 this afternoon, and at other times at the home.

ASHEBORO - Mr. Joseph Benson 'J.B.' Sink, 70, of 717 Uwharrie St., died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
He was a member of the Kingsway Quartet, based in Burlington.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Cross Road Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Greene and the Rev. Mark Sink.
The family will be at the Christian Life Center of Cross Road Baptist Church after the service until 4:30 p.m., and at other times at the home.

Miss Juanita Allen
BURLINGTON - Miss Juanita Allen of 334 Holly Hill Lane died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at Alamance Health Care Center after an illness of several weeks.
A native of Chatham County, she was the daughter of Mr. Levi B. Allen and Mrs. Annie White Allen, both deceased.
Survivors include a son, Mr. Charles Allen of Springfield, Mass.; and two brothers, Mr. John Albert Allen and Mr. Junior Allen, both of Reidsville.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ronnie Allen. Burial will be in Martin's Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home 30 minutes before the service, and at other times at the home of Mrs. Nancy Tate, 109 School St., Burlington.
Mrs. Janet K. Conley
URBANA, Ohio - Mrs. Janet K. Conley, 50, of 5136 Woodville Pike, formerly of Alamance County, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at her home.
Born July 26, 1947, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she was the wife of Mr. Ralph Conley, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Merle Miller and Mrs. Imogene 'Pyle' Miller Hart. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Urbana. She was a 1965 graduate of New Haven High School in Fort Wayne and was employed by Copeland Corporation in Sidney.
Survivors other than her husband include three sons, Mr. Ralph E. Conley II of Burlington, Mr. Christopher Conley of Piqua, Ohio, and Mr. Douglas Conley of Gibsonville; a daughter, Ms. Elizabeth A. Crowder of Burlington; two sisters, Ms. Jackie Demerly of Fremont, Ind., and Ms. Judy Wheeler of Berne, Ind.; her grandmother, Ms. Gwendolyn Huey of Berne; and nine grandchildren.
Burial was Feb. 2 at Casstown cemetery in Casstown, Ohio.

Mr. J.B. Sink
ASHEBORO - Mr. Joseph Benson 'J.B.' Sink, 70, of 717 Uwharrie St., died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
A native of Randolph County, he was the husband of Mrs. Margie Boone Sink. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and worked for 50 years in the automotive industry. He was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church and was a member of the 'Friendly Voices' Quartet and was a founder and member for 50 years of 'The Carolinians' Quartet. He sang frequently in Alamance County. He organized many singings at various restaurants in the area. He was a member of the Civitans, where he was president from 1978-79.
Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Mr. Mark Benson Sink of Thomasville and Mr. Timothy R. Sink of Asheboro; a daughter, Ms. Donna Sink Allen of Asheboro; two sisters, Ms. Ellie Voncannon and Ms. Edna Voncannon, both of Asheboro; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cross Road Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Greene and the Rev. Mark Sink.

Mr. John E. Webster
MEBANE - Mr. John Edgar Webster, 87, of 4503 Clayborne's Road, died at 5:55 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at the Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Alamance in Graham.
Born June 1, 1910, in Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Naomi Pulliam Webster, who survives, and the son of Mr. James Webster and Mrs. Sally Cobb Webster, both deceased. He was a retired employee of the N.C. Department of Transportation where he was a truck driver. He was a member of Mount Adar Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Janie W. Carver and Mrs. Sadie W. Stokes, both of Mebane; three sons, Mr. James Edward Webster and Mr. Donald Franklin Webster, both of Burlington, and Mr. Ralph Aaron Webster of Reidsville; three sisters, Mrs. Mallie Williamson, Mrs. Eva Richmond and Mrs. Victoria Bush, all of Leasburg; a brother, Mr. William Webster of Haw River; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Grover Cecil Webster.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Adar Baptist Church by the Rev. Chad Hall and the Rev. Jack Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6:30 to 8:30 Saturday evening, and at other times at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Janie W. Carver, 4926 Corbett Ridge Road, Mebane.
Mr. Joseph Eubanks
MEBANE - Mr. Joseph Newton Eubanks, 82, of 112 Dogwood Drive, died at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at the Hospice Home of Burlington after a short illness.
A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Nerissa Campbell Eubanks, and the son of Mr. Jacob Eubanks and Mrs. Nora Sturdivant Eubanks, both deceased. He was a retired employee of Orange Water and Sewer Authority and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Anne E. Atwater of Chapel Hill; and a brother, Mr. Robert Eubanks of Mebane.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Terry Farmer, pastor of First Baptist Church of Mebane. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday before the service, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Beatrice Hamrick
MEBANE - Mrs. Beatrice Caroline Edwards Hamrick, 91, of 1622 Saddle Club Road, the home of Mrs. Peggy Hines where she had lived for the past few months, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at Brookshire Nursing Center in Hillsborough after a two-month illness.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Fred Hamrick, and the daughter of Mr. Byan Bedford Edwards and Mrs. Fannie Glover Edwards, both deceased. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Hopewell Methodist Church in Ellenboro.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Hopewell Methodist Church with burial in Bethel Baptist Church cemetery in Ellenboro.
The family will be at Padgett-King Funeral Home, 421 E. Main St., Forest City, one hour before the service.
