Mr. Johnny Eastwood
BURLINGTON - Mr. Johnny Alvin Eastwood, 57, of 3413 Imanuel Road, Greensboro, died at 12:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at the Hospice Unit of Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro after a long illness.
A native of Orange County, he was the husband of Mrs. Alice Dawkins Eastwood, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Annie Mae Massey Eastwood, who survives, and the late Mr. Aubrey Eastwood. He was a self-employed painter and attended Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of Greensboro and mother of Burlington include two sons, Mr. Clarence Ray Eastwood of the home and Mr. Richard Alvin Eastwood of Burlington; two daughters, Mrs. Deborah Solomon of Elon College and Mrs. Sheryl Annette Johnson of Fayetteville; five brothers, Mr. Lee Eastwood, Mr. Mertice Eastwood, Mr. Joel Eastwood and Mr. Donald Eastwood, all of Burlington, and Mr. 'Slat' Eastwood of Haw River; five sisters, Mrs. Katie Carter, Mrs. Shirley Webster, Mrs. Vera Lipscomb, Mrs. Brenda May and Mrs. Vertice Sullivan, all of Burlington; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bill Skenes, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mount Zion United Church of Christ cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of Mr. Ricky Eastwood, 2210 Pinecroft Drive, Burlington.
Ms. Lillian Browning
BURLINGTON - Ms. Lillian Traynham Browning, 85, a resident of White Oak Manor Nursing Center, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at home.
She was born in Fairmont on Oct. 1, 1912. She was the wife of the late Mr. Leroy Clifton Browning, who died in 1968, and the daughter of Mr. Charles Reuben Traynham and Mrs. Clara Patrick Traynham, both deceased. She was a graduate of Fairmont High School and lived in Newark and South Orange, N.J., before moving to Burlington in 1966. She was a member of Fairmont Trinity United Methodist Church and a member for 36 years of Vailsburg United Methodist Church in New Jersey. She served as a trustee and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Vailsburg Garden Club. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross in Newark. She was a homemaker and a pianist. After moving to Burlington, she joined Front Street United Methodist Church, the Fannie Larkin Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include two brothers, the Rev. David D. Traynham of Rockingham and Mr. Thomas H. Traynham of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Mary T. Floyd of Fairmont, eight nephews and six nieces.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Charles M. Traynham; and a sister, Mrs. Martha T. Wohlnick.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Front Street United Methodist Church by Dr. William C. Simpson, pastor. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. at Oak Ridge cemetery in South Boston, Va.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening.

MEBANE - Mr. Joseph Fuller, 72, of 2084 Haith Fuller Trail, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Mr. James R. Tarleton
WINSTON-SALEM - Mr. James Robert Tarleton, 77, of Silas Creek Manor, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 27, 1920, in Anson County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Edith Taylor Tarleton, and the son of Mr. Charles Preston Tarleton and Mrs. Elizabeth Burr Tarleton, both deceased. He was raised in the Thompson Orphanage in Charlotte. He graduated from Central High School in Charlotte. He was a long-time resident of Burlington. He retired from Duke Power Company. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, where he was a past Governor. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a son, Mr. James Robert Tarleton Jr., of Mocksville; two daughters, Mrs. Lois T. Brown of Franklin, Tenn., and Miss Mary E. Tarleton of Winston-Salem; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Charles Tarleton; and a sister, Mrs. Mary C. Tarleton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church by the Rev. John E. Shields. Private burial will be in the church cemetery Monday.
The family will be at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Chapel, from 7 to 9 this evening.

William Bradsher
BURLINGTON - Mr. William Horace 'Bill' Bradsher, 79, of 2906 Hickory Hill Road, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Durham.
A native of Person County, he was the husband of Mrs. Inez Revis Bradsher, who survives, and the son of Mr. Claude Bradsher Sr. and Mrs. Carrie Lea Bradsher. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and was a retired driver for Green's Fuel Gas Company. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where he was a former member of the Men's Fellowship.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Ms. Barbara B. Jones and Mrs. Richard 'Dick' (Jacqueline 'Jackie') Patton, both of Durham; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Parrott and Mrs. Alma Smith, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Estelle McKay of Roxboro; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. Fannie Mae Mooney, Mrs. Doris Ellis, Mrs. Hazel Moore and Mrs. Elizabeth Burton; and two brothers, Mr. Claude Bradsher Jr. and Mr. Shelton Bradsher.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Skip Williams, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Matthew R. Tyre-Kerr
MEBANE - Matthew Ryan Tyre-Kerr of 206 Fieldale Road, infant son of Ms. Anna Leigh Tyre and Mr. Ralph Eugene Kerr III, died at 5:19 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Alamance County.
Survivors other than his mother of the home and father of Gibsonville include his maternal grandparents, Mr. Ronnie Tyre and Mrs. Olivia 'Libby' Tyre of Mebane; paternal grandparents, Mr. Ralph Eugene Kerr Jr. and Mrs. Annie Jeannette Kerr of Gibsonville.
A graveside service will be conducted at Hawfields Presbyterian Church cemetery by the Rev. Billy Duncan, pastor of Gibsonville Church of God, Mr. Ivan Tyre, and the Rev. Wyatt W. Aiken, pastor of Mebane Presbyterian Church.
The family will be at the home.

MEBANE - Mrs. Jessie McKinney, 88, of 2333-B Eastwood Lane, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at her home after several days of failing health. She was a former resident of Sidney Avenue, Burlington.
A native of Blount County, Tenn., she was the daughter of Mr. John Alexander Kerr and Mrs. Dora Lucinda Farr Kerr, both deceased. She was a retired textile employee.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Linda M. Wheeler of Mebane; a son, Mr. Charles Ward of Burlington; a half sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Young of Ringwald, Ga.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. James Bowman, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Mebane. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

BURLINGTON - Mr. Carl Thomas Wrenn, 73, of 153 W. Old Glencoe Road, died at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Durham after several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Thomas Ruffin Wrenn and Mrs. Edna Morris Wrenn, both deceased. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Alice Wrenn Hill of Burlington; one son, Mr. Paul Thomas Wrenn of Clarksville, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Betty Wrenn Page of Burlington; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. James Moon.

Mrs. Marianne Coffey
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Marianne Krajcer Coffey, 81, of 5232 N.C. 49 South, died at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at her home after one year of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Germany, she was the wife of the late Mr. Grover Alexander Coffey Jr., and the daughter of Mr. Hans Krajcer and Mrs. Elizabeth Krajcer, both deceased. She was a retired certified nursing assistant with the state of Massachusetts.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Nancy Coffey Govoni of the home and Mrs. Ruby Greenstien of Seminole, Fla.; one son, Mr. Stephen Alexander Coffey of Mebane; and four grandchildren.
A cryptside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum by the Rev. Bill Bishop, Hospice chaplain.
There will be no visitation. The family will be at the home.

GRAHAM - Mr. Thomas Winfred Jones, 66, of 312 Cannon St., died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center after six months of failing health, two weeks critical.
A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of Mrs. Frances Johnson Jones who survives, and the son of Mr. Coy David Jones and Mrs. Vera Hortense Johnson Jones, both deceased. He was retired from Burlington Industries House Finishing Plant and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include one daughter, Ms. Janet Jones of Chapel Hill; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Cockman of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; two half sisters, Mrs. Kay Jarmon and Mrs. Betty Campbell, both of Siler City; a stepsister, Mrs. Mae Stovall of Siler City; four half brothers, Mr. Willis Carl Jones of Greensboro, Mr. David Wrenn Jones of Asheboro, Mr. Henry Jones and Mr. Elmer Jones, both of Siler City.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Darrell Garner and the Rev. Walter Jones. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.

Mr. Chester C. Meeker
BURLINGTON - Mr. Chester Charles Meeker, 89, a resident of Twin Lakes Center, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998.
Born in Charleston, W.Va. Oct. 22, 1908, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Margaret Virginia Young Meeker, and the son of Mr. Chester Chancey Meeker and Mrs. Virginia Hawley Yates Meeker. He was a former member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew at St. John's Episcopal Church. He was a former member of All Saints Episcopal Church in South Charleston and a member of the Church of the Holy Comforter in Burlington. He was active for many years with the Oxford Group, Moral Re-Armament, and Up With People international movements for the spiritual revitalization of mankind.
Survivors include a son, Mr. John Meeker, and two grandchildren.
A memorial celebration service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel in the Health Care Building at Twin Lakes Center.
