Ms. Rena A. Gray
TIMBERLAKE - Ms. Rena Allen Gray, 84, of 1281 Willie Gray Road, Timberlake, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at Person County Memorial Hospital.
Born May 15, 1913, in Person County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Willie D. Gray, and the daughter of Mr. Ruben Malcolm Allen and Mrs. Lucy Wade Allen, both deceased. She was a member of Berry's Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Doris G. Hawkins of Timberlake and Mrs. Frances G. Woodlief of Graham; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Berry's Grove Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the Brooks and White Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 this evening.

Mrs. Vernell McClendis
GRAHAM - Mrs. Vernell Wiley McClendis of 510 Oakley St., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.

Mr. Charles Milliken
HAW RIVER - Mr. Charles Gilbert Milliken, 37, of 3472 N.C. 119 South, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, after a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mrs. Marylean Carr, who survives, and the late Mr. Nume Milliken Jr. He was employed at Walter Kidde Co. in Mebane, and was a graduate of Southern Alamance High School and attended N.C. A&T State University. He was a member of Melfield United Church of Christ.
Survivors other than his mother of Haw River include his stepfather, Mr. Ashmore Carr of Haw River; one daughter, Ms. Unica Milliken of Haw River; three sisters, Mrs. Sheila Bynum and Mrs. Debra Curtis, both of Graham, and Mrs. Amy Harris of Burlington; a foster sister, Ms. Babby J. Vanhook of Mebane; one brother, the Rev. Darryl Carr of Burlington; and grandfather, Mr. Thomas Vanhook of Graham.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Melfield United Church of Christ by the Rev. Dannie Williams, pastor. Burial will be in Hawfields Presbyterian Church cemetery in Mebane.
The family will be at Melfield United Church of Christ from 7 to 8 Tuesday evening and at other times at the home.

Miss Mary Bradshaw
GRAHAM - Miss Mary Lee Bradshaw, 85, of 2502 N.C. 119 South, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, after a one-day illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Mr. Thomas Bradshaw and Mrs. Addie Covington Bradshaw, both deceased. She was a retired office manager for Glen Miller Insurance Agency. She was a member of Graham Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. William C. Weckerly. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham on Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11.

Mr. Ledbetter Rogers
HAW RIVER - Mr. Ledbetter Rogers of 1 Green Valley Road, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at ACER Rest Home in Durham after a long illness.
A native of Person County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Mae Belle Rogers, and the son of Mr. Brodie Rogers and Mrs. Frances Jacobs Rogers, both deceased. He was a farmer and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Warren's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Mr. Lenwood Rogers of Snow Camp, Mr. James Rogers of Burlington and Mr. Voyce Rogers of New York City; and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Sue Vincent and Mrs. Foy Boykins, both of Snow Camp.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Sharpe Memorial Chapel by the Rev. James Brown, pastor of Warren's Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Sharpe Memorial Chapel from 5:30 to 6:30 this evening.
Mrs. Stella F. Carden
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Stella Mae Foust Carden, 91, of 607 Columbia Ave., died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health, five days critical.
A native of Pittsylvania County, Va., she was the wife of the late Mr. James Fletcher Carden, and the daughter of Mr. Henry Odie Foust and Mrs. Lovie Matherly Foust, both deceased. She retired after 30 years with Glen Raven Mills and was the oldest living member of Glen Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Spoon of Graham; a son, Mr. James H. Carden of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Doris Crawford of Graham; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Mr. Odie Foust, Mr. Kerston Foust, Mr. Earlie Foust and Mr. Willie Foust.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Bob Stephenson, associate pastor of Glen Hope Baptist Church.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mr. William Tillman
LAKESIDE, Calif. - Mr. William 'Luke' Tillman, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998.
Born in 1918, in Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Freda Tillman, who survives, and the son of Mr. Charlie Tillman and Mrs. Emma Tillman, both deceased. For 27 years, he served in the U.S. Army, where he was a master sergeant and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. He worked for 16 years for Pacific South West Airline in San Diego.
Survivors other than his wife include three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Tillman Sharpe of Graham, Mrs. Beverly Rogers and Mrs. Patsy Drury, both of California; five sons, Mr. Greg Tillman of Denver, Mr. Tony Rider of Wyoming, Mr. Leroy Rider, Mr. Dale Rider, Mr. Paul Rider and Mr. Richard Rider, all of California; two sisters, Ms. Doris Tillman Kimrey and Ms. Ann Tillman Sharpe, both of Burlington; one brother, Mr. Carl Tillman of California; and 19 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Charlie Maurice Tillman and Mr. Richard Manuel Tillman.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Salem United Methodist Church on Salem Church Road, by the Rev. Benji Kelley.
Mrs. Annie C. Shockley
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Annie Belle Clayton Shockley, 84, formerly of 405 Trail Four, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at Alamance Health Care Center after one year of failing health.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of Mr. Arnold Shockley, who died in 1971, and the daughter of Mr. Pinkney Laddie Clayton and Mrs. Laura Anne Shepherd Clayton, both deceased. She was retired from Annedeen Hosiery. She was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Citizen Club, the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Women On Mission.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Janice Richardson of Wilson; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Roy P. Taylor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Bellemont United Methodist Church cemetery.

Dr. Lawrence E. Holt
BURLINGTON - Dr. Lawrence Edwin Holt, 70, of 330 Boone Road, died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, after two years of failing health, five days critical.
A native of Person County, he was the husband of Mrs. Adele Powell Holt, who survives, and the son of Mr. Earlie West Holt and Mrs. Ethel Cheek Holt, both deceased. He was a retired chiropractor, practicing on Davis Street in Burlington for 44 years before retiring in 1992. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the occupied area of Korea after World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Ms. Tracie Marie Wiles of Advance; two sons, Mr. Michael Douglas Holt and Mr. Matthew Wade Holt, both of Elon College; a sister, Mrs. John R. (Edna) Taylor of Salisbury; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ms. Alyse Holt, Ms. Edith Handlesman and Ms. E. Jeanette Green.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Reid E. Dickens, pastor of Lakeview Community United Church of Christ.

GRAHAM - Mrs. Lois Braxton Johnson, 85, of 5280 E. Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, died at 6:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham after an illness of two weeks.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. John Hanks Johnson, and the daughter of Mr. Isham Braxton and Mrs. Sallie Jane Jones Braxton, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Concord United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Betty J. Hearn of Moncure; two sons, Mr. Charles L. Johnson and Mr. Jon A. Johnson, both of Graham; a sister, Ms. Avis B. Johnson of Graham; four brothers, Mr. Ira Braxton and Mr. Rebert Braxton, both of Graham, Mr. Winfred Braxton of Chapel Hill and Mr. Calvin Braxton of Snow Camp; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

BURLINGTON - Mr. F. Roosevelt 'Rosie' Caulder, 64, of 313 Hawthorne Lane, died Saturday morning, Jan. 31, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after one year of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Faye Montgomery Caulder, who survives, and the son of Mr. Everett Mitchell Caulder and Mrs. Minnie Powers Caulder, both deceased. He was retired from A.O. Smith Corp.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three daughters, Mrs. Cathy C. Starr of Hope Mills, Mrs. JoAnna C. Phillips of Siler City and Ms. Michele Caulder of Mercerville, N.J.; four sisters, Mrs. Beulah Thomas and Mrs. Mozelle Foust, both of Hopedale, Mrs. Peggy Minton of Bedford, Va., and Mrs. Geneva Boggs of Haw River; and four grandchildren.
