Mrs. Ruth P. Kearns
THOMASVILLE - Mrs. Ruth Virginia Primm Kearns, 90, of Salemtown Moravian Home in Winston-Salem, formerly of Yokeley Road, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at Salemtown Moravian Home.
Born Oct. 20, 1907, in Richmond County, Va., she was the wife of Mr. Austin F. Kearns, who died March 23, 1984, and the daughter of Mr. Archie Primm and Mrs. Nellie Choplin Primm, both deceased. She was a retired teacher at Fair Grove Elementary School and was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Gay) Moss of Lake Norman; a sister, Mrs. Gibby Welch of High Point; a brother, Mr. Al Primm of Alamance County; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Cleo Green Peacock; and a brother, Mr. Richard Primm.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Ethel M. Stanley
SMITHFIELD - Mrs. Ethel Martin Stanley, 86, of 515 Barbour Road, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Britthaven Nursing Home in Smithfield.
A native of Johnston County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Clarence Wright and the late Mr. Wade Stanley. She was the daughter of Mr. Lewis Robert Martin and Mrs. Minnie Wright Martin, both deceased. She was a member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church in Burlington and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Ms. Myrtle Bradshaw of Graham and Ms. Meta Starnes of Durham; a brother, Mr. Leon R. Martin of Goldsboro; and a sister, Ms. Kate Mooring of El Cajon, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Erma McGee.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riverside Free Will Baptist Church in Princeton by the Rev. David Kriger. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Alamance Memorial Mausoleum in Burlington.
The family will be at Howell Funeral & Cremation Service in Goldsboro from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Martin, 4547 Stevens Mill Road, Goldsboro.
Mr. William E. Faucette
BURLINGTON - Mr. William Edwin Faucette, 87, of White Oak Manor, formerly of 1566 Deep Creek Church Road, died at 7:06 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at White Oak Manor after several years of failing health, three days critical.
A native of Altamahaw, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Pauline Brown Faucette, and the son of Mr. Walter Faucette and Mrs. Fannie Betty Cobb Faucette, both deceased. He was retired from Western Electric Company and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Mr. Jerry Brown Faucette of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Bowland, Mrs. Carlene Moser and Mrs. Peggy Oliver, all of Burlington; and a brother, Mr. Jack Faucette of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Lou Eva Barts and Mrs. Juanita Minor.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church by the Rev. Carson Wiggins, pastor. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home of the brother, 1607 Deep Creek Church Road, Burlington.

Mr. Freddie A. Hanks
FAYETTEVILLE - Sgt. 1st Class (U.S. Army ret.) Freddie Alton Hanks, 55, of 7648 Fletcher Ave., died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He was the husband of Mrs. Joanne B. Hanks, who survives. He was retired from the U.S. Army serving in the Special Forces for two tours in Vietnam. He was retired from the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of LaGrange Park Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors other than his wife of Fayetteville include four daughters, Ms. Teresa H. Mitchell of Clarksville, Tenn., Ms. Pamela H. Guin, Ms. Debbie H. Beard and Ms. Melisa H. Klingbeil, all of Fayetteville; a sister, Ms. Phyllis Kay Neal of Saxapahaw; three brothers, Mr. Frank N. Hanks of Burlington, Mr. James 'Butch' Hanks of Gibsonville and Mr. Thomas 'Pete' M. Hanks of Chapel Hill; and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at LaGrange Park Baptist Church by the Rev. David George and the Rev. Dave Rimel. Burial with military honors will be in Cumberland Memorial Garden.

Mrs. Margaret Smith
GRAHAM - Mrs. Margaret Cornelia Soley Smith, 68, of 3113 Worsham Mill Road, Ruffin, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, after two years of failing health.
A native of Pennsylvania, she was the wife of the late Mr. Judge Alexander Smith Sr., and the daughter of Mr. Joseph Soley and Mrs. Elizabeth Parrish Soley, both deceased. She was a homemaker and attended J.A. Lowe Memorial Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Margaret S. Felipe of Ruffin; a son, Mr. Judge Alexander Smith Jr. of Burlington; a stepdaughter, Mrs. June McDonald of Asheboro; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening.
Mrs. Ruth S. Greeson
GIBSONVILLE - Mrs. Ruth Stewart Greeson, 81, died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at Hillhaven of Alamance.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late Mr. William Clarence Greeson, and the daughter of Mr. Alonzo Thomas Stewart and Mrs. Lake Erie Cook Stewart, both deceased. She was retired from Mineola Plant of Cone Mills and was a member of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville.
Survivors include three sons, Mr. Bobby Greeson of Burlington, Mr. Claude Tommy Greeson and Mr. Ron Greeson, both of Whitsett; a sister, Mrs. Madeline Terrell of Gibsonville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bartlett Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert C. Boyd, pastor of Brick United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. James E. Farrow
BURLINGTON - Mr. James Eugene 'Gene Clark' Farrow, 61, of 405 Hood St., died at 3 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill of injuries from an automobile accident on Rauhut Street.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ruthie Stanfield Clark, who survives, and the son of Mr. James Eugene Farrow Sr. and Mrs. Willie Younger Farrow, both deceased.
Survivors other than his wife of Burlington include two daughters, Mrs. Sandy Walker and Ms. Lois Clark, both of Burlington; a son, Mr. Algene Clark of Burlington; two stepsons, Mr. Leonard Clark and Mr. Bobby Clark, both of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Lois Farrow of Graham; a brother, Mr. George Henderson Clark of Sedalia; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Hallie B. Wade; and two brothers, Mr. John I. Clark and Mr. David W. Younger.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. William J. Holt. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
Mrs. Betty B. Johnson
SNOW CAMP - Mrs. Betty Jean Burnette Johnson, 58, of 7926 Bethel South Fork Road, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Joe Daniel Johnson, who survives, and the daughter of Mrs. Hilda Burnette, who survives, and the late Mr. Franklin Burnette. She was a 1958 graduate of Graham High School. She was a member of Burnette's Chapel United Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Senior Choir, the Usher Board and the Trustee Board.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and mother of Graham include two sons, Mr. Curtis M. Johnson of Graham and Mr. Dwayne A. Johnson of Liberty; five sisters, Mrs. Edna J. Johnson of Siler City, Mrs. Carolyn Faye Burnette, Mrs. Linda Bailey, Mrs. Sarah Johnson and Mrs. Delcie French, all of Graham; a brother, Mr. Frankie Burnette of Graham; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burnette's Chapel United Church of Christ by the Rev. Stanley Burnette. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Burnette's Chapel Home from 7 to 8 this evening.
Mr. George W. Pegram
GRAHAM - Mr. George Wilbur Pegram, 76, of 413 Walker Ave., died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham after four weeks of failing health and a critical illness of one week.
A native of Halifax County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ruth Atkins Pegram who survives, and the son of Mr. Willie Henry Pegram and Mrs. Martha Frances Handy Pegram, both deceased. He was retired from Gate City Towing and Recovery in Greensboro. He was Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include one son, Mr. Larry George Pegram of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Reba P. Jones of North, S.C.; three step grandchildren; and five great-step grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas S. Lester
SUMMERFIELD - Mr. Thomas S. Lester, 85, of 424 Witty Road died Sunday morning, Jan. 25, 1998, at Vencor Hospital.
A Rockingham County native, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Bessie Lewis Lester. He was owner and operator of Hudson & Lester Hardware Store and also worked as a farmer. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, a former director of Wachovia Bank and served on the county committee of ASCS.
Survivors included a daughter, Ms. Linda Lester of the home; one son, Mr. Lewis Lester of Summerfield; four sisters, Ms. Fannie Thomas of Madison, Ms. Gladys Jefferies of Winston-Salem, Ms. Lillie Carter of Summerfield and Mrs. Johnnie (Daisy) Jones and Ms. Helen Isley, both of Reidsville; one brother, Mr. John Lester of Reidsville; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at 360 Witty Road.

Mr. Willie Bradshaw
GIBSONVILLE - Mr. Willie "Jack" Bradshaw, 78, of 6046 Burlington Road, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Wesley Long Nursing Center after a long illness.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Helen Bradshaw, who survives, and the son of Mr. Graham Bradshaw and Mrs. Lillian Hightower Bradshaw, both deceased. He was retired from Industrial Mechanic and was a member of Sweet Gum Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Mr. Gregory G. Bradshaw of Phoenix; a daughter, Ms. Kathy Bradshaw of Hackensack, N.J.; a brother, Mr. George Long of Atlanta; four sisters, Ms. Hattie Bradshaw of Burlington, Ms. Hazel Long and Ms. Sherldean Fuller, both of Greensboro, and Ms. Savannah Foust of Elon College.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sweet Gum Grove Baptist Church.
