Mrs. Lucille Fulcher
MEBANE - Mrs. Lucille Bessie Fulcher, 95, of 314 W. Holt St., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at Hawfields Presbyterian Home.
A Person County native, she was the wife of the late Mr. Louis M. Fulcher and the daughter of Mr. Dave Smith and Mrs. Annie Smith, both deceased. A member of Mt. Zion Christian Church, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Louise Horner and Mrs. Betty Pore, both of Mebane; a sister, Ms. Judy Kimbro of Mebane; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Rudy Smith and Mr. Walter Smith; and a sister, Ms. Onie Bradley.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Walker's Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by the Rev. John Bolin, minister. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Christian Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 1:30 today at the funeral home.
Mr. Paul O. Nix
BURLINGTON - Mr. Paul Oliver Nix, 77, of 445 N.C. 87 North, died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at his home after one year of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Young County, Texas, was the husband of Mrs. Amy Locke Nix, who survives, and the son of Mr. Zacheus Lafayette Nix and Mrs. Susan Annie Pharris Nix, both deceased. He was a graduate of Conroe High School in Conroe, Texas, and the Casey Jones School of Aeronautics in Newark, N.J.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the 58th Pursuit Squadron, 33rd Pursuit Group, which was the Joker Squadron in North Africa, in Europe with the 366th Fighter Group and was in six major battles. He was retired after 35 years of service at Western Electric Company. He was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 11175 of Elon College and American Legion Post No. 63. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers and the Communication Workers of America.
He was a former member of the Western High School Boosters Club and was a former photographer for the Western High School sports teams. He was a member of the Senior Democrats of Alamance County. He was retired after 32 years of service with the Elon College Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Board of Directors. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elon College and the Solid Rock Sunday school class.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Sidney (Mary Anne) Johnson of Burlington; a son, Mr. Darrell E. Nix of Rocky Mount; two sisters, Mrs. Opal Seaberry of Keene, Texas and Mrs. Lorene Brown of Houston; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-step grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Elon College by the Rev. Norman Harris, pastor, and the Rev. Lester Haney, pastor of Shamrock Evangelical Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Braxton Sawyer
GIBSONVILLE - Mrs. Emma Braxton Blackwood Sawyer, 81, of 6645 Frieden's Church Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Joe Sawyer. She was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church of Elon College, where she was a member of the Epsie Somers Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joann Newell of the home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro by the Rev. Norman Harris and the Rev. Bill Barnes. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 Friday evening and from 1 to 2 Saturday afternoon before the service.

Mrs. Helen Weckerly
BUTLER, Pa. - Mrs. Helen M. Weckerly, 88, of Sunnyview Home, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998 at Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler.
A native of Leechburg, Pa., she was the wife of the late Mr. Albert Kenneth Weckerly, and the daughter of the late Mr. Clarence Kepple and Mrs. Catherine Cline Kepple. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Mr. A. Kenneth Weckerly Jr. of Valencia, Pa., Mr. Roland 'Bud' Weckerly of Butler and Dr. William Weckerly of Graham; one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Kathryn) Jones of Cabot, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Sproull of Leechburg; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted Monday at St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church by Dr. William Weckerly, pastor of Graham Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Saxomburg Memorial Church cemetery.

Mr. Waylon Williams
COATS - Mr. Waylon Williams, 78, of Coats died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at the Brian Center in Asheboro.
Born Feb. 28, 1919, in Harnett County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Sarah Moore Williams, and the son of Mr. Sampson Williams and Mrs. Nettie Williams, both deceased. He was a retired farmer, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Friendly Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Camilla W. Forcum of Greensboro and Ms. Melissa W. Craig of Graham; one son, Mr. Waylon Anthony Williams of Raleigh; one sister, Ms. Lossie W. Marley of Siler City; two brothers, Mr. Hunter H. Williams and Mr. Gerald Williams, both of Asheboro; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Coats by the Rev. Troy 'Pete' Daniel. Burial will be in the Coats City Cemetery.

Mrs. Judy Williamson
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Judy Hutson Williamson, 56, of 414 Bland Blvd., died at 12:28 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Forsyth County, she was the wife of Mr. Willie Williamson, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Allen M. Warren and Mrs. Nell Wilkerson Warren, both deceased. She was a licensed massage therapist and was the owner and operator of Center for Massage Therapy.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a son, Mr. Lloyd Millikan Jr. of Snow Camp; a sister, Mrs. Carolyn Fulper of Lexington; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Charlie May, Dr. Lacy G. Hall, Ms. Nancy Hemrick and Major Terry Edwards.

Mr. L.P. Best Jr.
MEBANE - Mr. L.P. Best Jr., 87, of 4672 Forest Lake Drive, died Monday evening, Jan. 20, 1998, at his home.
A native of Warsaw, N.C., he was the husband of the late Mrs. Evelyn Cooper Best, and the son of Mr. Lucius Pender Best Sr. and Mrs. Huldah Harrison Walston Best, both deceased. He was active in the Mebane United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the official board. He was founder and owner of Craftique, chairman of the board of Kingsdown and served on the board of Central Carolina Bank. He was former mayor of Mebane, chairman of the Alamance County Democratic Party and of the Alamance County Commissioners. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended Woodberry Forest School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ms. Gayle Cooper Best.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mebane United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will be at Walker's Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 to 7:30 this evening.

Mr. George Courtney Jr.
BURLINGTON - Mr. George Clarence Courtney Jr., 83, of 1607 Wycliff Court, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998.
Born March 31, 1914, in Lenoir, he was the husband of Mrs. Cecelia Todd Courtney, who survives, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Clarence Courtney Sr., both deceased. He was a 1937 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He retired after 33 years with Burlington Industries in the personnel and insurance departments. He was a member of West Market Street United Methodist Church, where he was an honorary life member of the administrative board, an choir member for 25 years and served as the financial secretary of the Sunday school department for 10 years. He was an associate member of the First United Methodist Church of Elon College. He was an volunteer for the bloodmobile, Mobile Meals and Volunteer Action Center.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Ms. Ann Courtney of Anchorage, Alaska, and Ms. Katherine Courtney of Arlington, Va.; and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at West Market Street United Methodist Church.
The family will be in the bride's parlor after the service.

Mr. McBride Albright
BURLINGTON - Mr. McBride A. 'Mac' Albright, 65, of 2328 La Vista Drive, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at his home after an illness of six months.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Linda Stanley Albright, who survives, and the son of Mr. McBride Holt Albright and Mrs. Isla Whitesell Berrong, both deceased. He was a retired self-employed carpenter and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Providence United Church of Christ, where he was president of the Church Men's Fellowship and was a former trustee.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Robin A. Rivers of Haw River; a son, Mr. Eric Lyle Albright of Graham; two half brothers, Mr. Joe Max Albright and Mr. John Scott Albright, of Tampa, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Providence United Church of Christ by the Rev. Darryl Peebles. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.

Mrs. Haruko Wilkerson
GRAHAM - Mrs. Haruko Yamada Wilkerson, 69, of 613 Keck Road, died at 3:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at the Hospice Home of Burlington after three months of failing health, one month critical.
A native of Okinawa, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Mr. Kamado Yamada and Mrs. Matu Tomi Yamada. She was employed with Sue Lynn Hosiery and was a member of Haw River Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Kathy W. Carey of Graham and Miss Yuriko Yamada of Okinawa; four sons, Mr. Donald Ray Wilkerson Jr. of Franklinton, Mr. Bobby Wilkerson of Haw River, Mr. Yoshinori Tome of Okinawa and Mr. Katuji Yamada of Tokoyo; one sister, Mrs. Humiko Shiromo of Okinawa; one brother, Mr. Gisei Yamada of Okinawa; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Mr. Mikel Wilkerson.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Haw River Christian Church by the Rev. James L. Rosser, pastor. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home of a daughter, Ms. Kathy W. Carey of 1777 Payne Road, Graham.
