Mrs. Margie Brannock
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Margie Dollard Brannock, 94, formerly of Dixie Street, died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Pine Haven Convalescent Center in Henderson.
A native of Clarendon County, S.C., she was the wife of the late Mr. Carl Lee Brannock, and the daughter of Mr. Joseph Rutledge Dollard and Mrs. Mamie Jayroe Dollard, both deceased. She was a retired food supervisor at Alamance County Hospital. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Birdie Thompson Sunday School Class and the 39 & Holding Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sue B. Faulkner of the home; a son, Mr. James Lee Brannock of Keewanee, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Sally Howerton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by Dr. James Donald Phillips, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Henderson, and the Rev. James Hobbs, pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary one hour before the service.

Mr. William Childress Sr.
GIBSONVILLE - Mr. William Broughton 'Brodie' Childress Sr., 59, of 203 Minneola St., died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, after 20 years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mrs. Mary Lou Dessie York Childress, who survives, and the late Mr. William Harris Childress. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his mother of Saxapahaw include three daughters, Mrs. Robin Childress Parker of Mebane, Mrs. Mary Childress Wilson of Elon College, and Mrs. Wanda Childress Simpson of the home; two sons, Mr. William Broughton Childress Jr. of Haw River and Mr. William Brodie Childress of Graham; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Childress Hopkins of Asheboro; a brother, Mr. Larry Wayne Childress of Saxapahaw; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Billy Childress.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Graham Open Faith Holiness Church by the Rev. Mike Hurt, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Moore's Chapel cemetery.
The family will be at the home.

Mrs. Margaret Pritchard
SILER CITY - Mrs. Margaret Faye Pritchard, 83, of 315 E. Seventh St., died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Chatham Hospital.
A native of Alexander County, she was the wife of Mr. William Hugh 'Bill' Pritchard, who died Oct. 31, 1997. She was retired from A.J. Schneierson & Co. She was a member of Oakley Baptist Church, where she was organist, pianist and choir member.
Survivors include three sons, Mr. Jack C. Pritchard of Pasadena, Md., Mr. Guy W. Pritchard of Siler City and Mr. Michael H. Pritchard of Tampa, Fla; five daughters, Ms. Nancy P. Wilson, Mrs. Marie P. Marsh, Ms. Judy P. Marsh, Ms. Ellen P. Holder and Ms. Vicky P. Justice, all of Siler City; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Oakley Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Howell and the Rev. Tommy Harrold. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of Mr. Dalton Marsh and Mrs. Marie Marsh, 164 Roland Marsh Road, Siler City.

Mr. Dan Q. Jackson
GREENSBORO - Mr. Dan Q. Jackson, 85, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998.
He was born Nov. 5, 1912, in Kinston. He was the husband of Mrs. Gerry Jackson, who survives, and the son of Mr. Jacob Jackson and Mrs. Ada Jackson, both deceased. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Air Force. He pioneered development and manufacture of parts for the aerospace industry, including the KC fitting.
Survivors other than his wife include one son, Mr. Stephen A. Jackson of Greensboro; four daughters, Ms. Kay Newman of Greensboro, Ms. Jean C. Keating of Climax, Ms. Diane E. Jackson of Atlanta and Ms. Leah R. Jackson of Greensboro; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 Thursday evening.

Mrs. Carrie H. Stokes
YANCEYVILLE - Mrs. Carrie Hodnett Stokes, 91, of 3911 N.C. 158 West, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at her home.
Born June 17, 1906, in Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Buloh Stokes, and the daughter of Mr. Johnny Hodnett and Mrs. Anna Graves Hodnett, both deceased. She was a member of Sassafras Grove Baptist Church, and a homemaker.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Earlene S. Jones and Mrs. Lucy S. Turner Long, both of Danville, Va., Mrs. Beatrice Stokes Slade of Norwalk, Conn., and Mrs. Mary S. Turner of Yanceyville; three brothers, Mr. Matthew Williams of Yanceyville, Mr. Charlie Hodnett and Mr. Walter Hodnett, both of Danville; and 49 grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sassafras Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Carl Bigelow. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body may be viewed this evening from 2 to 8 at Fulton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Beatrice S. Slade
YANCEYVILLE - Mrs. Beatrice Stokes Slade, 74, of 3911 N.C. 158 West, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in Norwalk, Conn.
Born June 1, 1923, in Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Mr. James Robert Slade, and the daughter of Mr. Robert Buloh Stokes and Mrs. Carrie Hodnett Stokes, both deceased. She was a member of Sassafras Grove Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carrie S. Clark and Ms. Willie Mae Slade, both of Norwalk; one son, Mr. James R. Slade Jr. of Yanceyville; three sisters, Mrs. Earlene S. Jones and Mrs. Lucy Turner Long, both of Danville, Va., and Mrs. Mary S. Turner of Yanceyville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sassafras Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Carl Bigelow. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body may be viewed this evening from 2 to 8 at Fulton Funeral Home.

Mr. Parker Wood
MEBANE - Mr. Parker Wood, 74, of 821 S. Eighth St., died at 8 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after an illness of one year.
A native of Alamance County, the was the husband of Mrs. Sadie Lee Rainey Wood, who survives, and the son of Mr. Willie Craven Wood and Mrs. Josephine Herron Wood, both deceased. He was a truck driver for 25 years before retiring from Associated Transport Company. He attended Alexander Wilson School and was the chaplain of the Teamsters union. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mebane, where he was a Sunday school teacher, served for 10 years as Sunday school superintendent, was a member of the Baptist Men's Group, served on the Board of Deacons, was an honorary life deacon and was chairman of the funeral ushers.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Clark 'Wanda' Newlin of Mebane and Mrs. Peggy Wood Timko of Severna Park, Md.; a son, Mr. Larry Wood Sr. of Mebane; three sisters, Mrs. Dolly Isley, Mrs. Edna Holt and Mrs. Louise Brown, all of Graham; a brother, Mr. L.C. Wood of Burlington; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Thelma Kimball, and a brother, Mr. W.J. Wood.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Mebane by Dr. Terry Farmer, pastor; Dr. Charles Lemley, pastor emeritus; the Rev. Charles Fleshman, associate pastor; and the Rev. Marvin Simpson, senior adult minister. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Virginia Taylor
MEBANE - Mrs. Virginia Kinney Taylor, 86, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at Rehabilitation Health Center in Graham.
A native of Brownsville, Tenn., she was the wife of the late Mr. Charles Kennon Taylor, and the daughter of Mr. James H. Kinney and Mrs. Mary Tom Kinney, both deceased. She was a member of Calvary Methodist Church in Nashville, Tenn., for 50 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lynn Bourne of New Port; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was conducted in Nashville.
Walker's Funeral Home in Mebane was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nina C. Allen
MEBANE - Mrs. Nina Compton Allen, 87, formerly of 401 Circle Drive, died at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields, after several years of failing health, one week critical.
A native of New Hanover County, she was the wife of the late Mr. William Monroe Allen, and the daughter of Mr. Thomas Allen Compton and Mrs. Jessie Branson Compton, both deceased. She was a retired teacher, having taught elementary school in many areas of the state. She was headmistress of Burlington Day School for many years and was retired from Durham Academy, where she taught special reading classes. She was a member of Mebane Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Mr. James Allen Compton, Mr. Bluford Cooper Compton, Mr. Thomas Henry Compton and Mr. William Branson Compton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Wyatt Aiken, pastor of Mebane Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Eno Presbyterian Church cemetery in Hillsborough.
The family will be at the funeral home one hour before the service, and at other times at the home of a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sara Rogers Compton, 1232 Rogers Road, Graham.
