Mr. James U. Dean
EFLAND - Mr. James Uda Dean, 71, of 2411 Lebanon Road, died at 4 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at his home.
A native of Orange County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Alma Johnson Dean, and the son of Mr. Lenny Dean and Mrs. Decie Wright Dean, both deceased. He was a retired self-employed pipe layer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Mr. James Lynn Dean of the home; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Jackie Cates of Efland, Ms. Patricia Hill of Graham and Mrs. Judy Hill of Las Vegas; three sisters, Mrs. Ann Smith and Mrs. Ruth Thompson, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Thelma Cheek of Mebane; three brothers, Mr. Arthur Dean and Mr. Classie Dean, both of Hillsborough, and Mr. Harvey Dean of Haw River; three grandchildren; and six step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Sykes.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cane Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Gregg Hemmen, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur 'Red' Sykes, 4208 Buckhorn Road, Efland.
Mr. Donald M. Troxler
CONCORD - Mr. Donald Melvin Troxler, 73, of 245 Eastcliff Drive, S.E., died at 12:01 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at his home after a six-month illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Jewel Jones Troxler, who survives, and the son of Mr. Joseph Henry Troxler and Mrs. Mable Squires Troxler, both deceased. He attended N.C. State University, and was a farm machinery dealer. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church where he served in the chancel choir for 40 years, and was a member of the Methodist Men. He moved to Concord from Alamance County in 1949 and joined Lowrance Brothers Farm Equipment Co. He later opened Troxler Equipment Co. which served Cabarrus County.
Survivors other than his wife include three sons, Dr. Matthew G. Troxler of Mebane, Mr. J. Andrew Troxler of Concord and Mr. Kent M. Troxler of Conyers, Ga.; one daughter, Mrs. A. Quintona T. Dionne of Concord; five brothers, Mr. Therman Troxler of Charlotte, Mr. Lloyd Troxler and Mr. Buddy Troxler, both of Salisbury, Mr. Frank Troxler of Ossipee and Mr. R.T. Troxler of Raleigh; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline T. Nicks and Mrs. Betty Woody, both of Ossipee, and Mrs. Mildred T. Gaylord of Jamesville; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Keith Troxler.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry L. Kimel and the Rev. Worth Sweet. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Nellie S. Edger
DURHAM - Mrs. Nellie Shaw Edger, 89, of 1607 Nixon St., died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in Durham Regional Hospital.
A native of Springfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Mr. Isaac Shaw and Mrs. Cora Hicks Shaw, both deceased. She moved to Durham in 1955, and was a retired cook, and ran her own nursing home. She was a member of Peace Missionary Baptist Church and served on the deaconess board, senior choir, missionary department, Sunday school, Pastor's Aide and the Willing Workers Club. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and United Order of Tents No. 503.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bessie S. Burnette and Mrs. Mary S. Griffin, both of Mebane; one son, Mr. Joseph B. Shaw of Mebane; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Peace Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. W.E. Daye. Burial will be in Glennview Memorial Park Garden of Devotion.
The family will be at Peace Missionary Baptist Church, Apex Highway, from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening.

Mr. James R. King
BURLINGTON - Mr. James Ronald King, 57, of Burlington died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at his home.
A native of Pennsylvania, he was the husband of Mrs. Carol Barr King who survives, and the son of Mrs. Mary Louise Finch King of Clifton Springs, N.Y., and the late Mr. Cecil King. He was retired after 25 years with the Xerox Corp. He attended Elon College Community Church and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and his mother include one son, Mr. Ronald Cunningham of Canandaigua, N.Y.; three sisters, Mrs. June Burkett and Mrs. Jorene Declerck, both of Clifton Springs, and Mrs. Joyce Horton of Newark, N.Y.

Mrs. Regina M. Vetter
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Regina Murray Vetter, 82, of 618 Atwater St., died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at her home.
A native of Newark, N.J., she was the wife of the late Mr. Raymond E. Vetter, and the daughter of Mr. Dominick F. Murray and Mrs. Elizabeth Gilday Murray, both deceased. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Theresians.
Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Joseph G. Vetter of Burnsville and Mr. David R. Vetter of Graham; two daughters, Mrs. Marie E. Felder of Durham and Mrs. Rita A. Scearce of Greensboro; and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Al/-a/-mance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mr. C.W. Wade Hensley
LIBERTY - Mr. C.W. Wade Hensley, 61, of 4308 W. Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, died at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at the Rehabilitation Health Care Center of Alamance.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Thelma Gibson Hensley who survives, and the son of Mrs. Naomi B. Hensley of Liberty, who survives, and the late Mr. Charlie Washington Hensley. He was self-employed at Auto Trim Design. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors other than his wife of the home, and his mother, include two daughters, Mrs. Connie Bowman and Mrs. Anna Watson, both of Liberty; two sons, Mr. Johnny Hensley and Mr. Shannon Hensley, both of Liberty; one brother, Mr. Sterling Stevie Hensley of Liberty; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by Mr. Henry Johnson. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mr. Gerald R. Rudell
STONEY CREEK - Mr. Gerald R. 'Jerry' Rudell, 69, of 945 Wyckshire Court, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro after a short illness.
A native of Montgomery County, Pa., he was the husband of Mrs. Ruth Sides Rudell, and the son of the late Mrs. Hazel Irene Duck. A graduate of Penn State University, he was a U.S. Army Special Forces Veteran and was a sales engineer with Rockwell-Reliance Corp. He was a Kanawha County Park Commissioner in Charleston, W.Va. He was a member of Edgewood Country Club in Charleston and Stoney Creek Country Club. He attended St. Mark's Reformed Church and was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Kristine Blair of Charleston, a son, Mr. Roger Rudell of Columbia, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Sarah Galvin of San Antonio and Mrs. Lisa Adams of Union Cross; a half sister, Mrs. Betty McGinnis of Leechburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and six step grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's Reformed Church by the Rev. Robert M. Disher, pastor.

Mr. Homer Dowd Sr.
BURLINGTON - Mr. Homer C. Dowd Sr., 70, of 320 Stokes St., died at 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at his home after a sudden illness.
A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of Mrs. Eunice Vestal Dowd, who survives, and the son of Mr. Ben Dowd and Mrs. Catherine McDaniel Dowd, both deceased. He was a textile fixer and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Mr. H.C. Dowd Jr. of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Smith and Mrs. Geneva Holt, both of Burlington, Mrs. Evie Smith of Gibsonville and Mrs. Lorena Woble of Greensboro; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel of Burlington by Dr. Tommy Richardson. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. Wilson A. McBane
GREENSBORO - Mr. Wilson Anderson McBane, 90, formerly of 723 S. Elam Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at Friends Homes at Guilford, where he had been a resident since 1994.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband for 55 years of Mrs. Mary Dixon McBane, who died in 1991, and the son of Mr. Anderson Scott McBane and Mrs. Arka Wilson McBane. He moved to Greensboro in 1927. He was a member of First Friends Meeting and was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge for 65 years. He was a retired chief electrician for the Vicks Chemical Corp.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Jean M.) Small of Greensboro.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Garden Friends Cemetery.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Jan. 25 at First Friends Meeting.
The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home from 7 to 9 Monday evening.

Mr. Steven Troutman
GIBSONVILLE - Mr. Steven Wayne Troutman, 45, of 309 Owen St., died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Terry's Home Care of Yanceyville.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Fred M. Troutman and Mrs. Joyce Dalton Troutman, who survive. He was a member of Whitsett Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his parents of the home include a daughter, Ms. Sharon Parker of Burlington; two sons, Mr. Todd Troutman of Charlotte and Mr. Steven Parker of Burlington; two sisters, Ms. Gail Hicks and Ms. Shirley Jones, both of Gibsonville; two brothers, Mr. Michael Troutman and Mr. Roger Troutman, both of Gibsonville; and one grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Gibsonville City Cemetery.
The family will be at the home.
Mr. Joseph Brzezinski
GREENSBORO - Mr. Joseph Philip Brzezinski, 70, of 5610 Fleming Terrace Road, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Wesley Long Hospital.
Born Jan. 19, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the husband of Mrs. Angela Brzezinski, who survives, and the son of Mr. Joseph Brzezinski and Mrs. Catherine Brzezinski. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from AT&T after 30 years of service.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Mr. Joseph Brzezinski Jr. of Chapel Hill and Haw River, Mr. Michael Brzezinski of Raleigh; three daughters, Mrs. Peter (Elizabeth) Whitcomb of Brookline, Mass., Major Kenneth (Diane) Reese of Vienna, Va., and the U.S. Air Force, and Mrs. James (Mary) Edmonds of Hickory; a sister, Ms. Blanche Geise of Lakeland, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ms. Catherine Brzezinski.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church by the Rev. Jim O'Neill. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, Guilford College Chapel, from 6 to 9 this evening, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
