Mrs. Ellen Jenkins
CLINTON, Tenn. - Mrs. Ellen Beatrice Jenkins, 81, of Powell, Tenn., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital.
A native of Heiskell, Tenn., she was the wife of the late Mr. Paul Jenkins, and the daughter of Mr. Milton Stephens and Mrs. Emma Frances Stephens, both deceased. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Betty Flick of Graham and Mrs. Pamela Carpenter of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, Mr. Glen Jenkins of Claxton, Tenn., Mr. Jim Jenkins of Graham and Mr. Leon Jenkins of Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Lee Bunch of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mrs. Opel Yoakum of Nashville, Tenn.; three brothers, Mr. Floyd Stephens, Mr. David Stephens and Mr. Cecil Stephens, all of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Baptist Church in Powell by the Rev. Glenn Gamble and the Rev. Gary Swaggerty. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.
The family will be at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton from 7 to 9 Sunday evening.

Mrs. Edith T. Faulkner
CHAPEL HILL - Mrs. Edith Teer Faulkner, 80, of 2604 Orange Chapel-Clover Garden Church Road, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Chapel Hill Rehabilitation and Health Care after 18 months of failing health, one month critical.
A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Charles S. Faulkner, and the daughter of Mr. Eddie Rober Teer and Mrs. Pearl Tapp Teer Zachary, both deceased. She was a retired administrative secretary with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a member of Clover Garden United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Edna O'Daniel of Chapel Hill, Mrs. Peggy Z. Way of Mebane and Mrs. Carolyn Z. Huffines of Atlanta; and one brother, Mr. Alford G. Zachary of Chapel Hill.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Wilson Lindley Zachary.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Clover Garden United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Jack Ruth, pastor.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening.

Mr. Millard R. Holt
GRAHAM - Mr. Millard Russell Holt, 79, of 2207 Lacy Holt Road, died at 1:48 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Martha Kellam Holt, who survives, and the son of Mr. Lacy Robert Holt and Mrs. Bettie Russell Holt, both deceased. He was a retired machinist with Compton Knowles. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Marie) Hyde of Graham; a son, Mr. Howard R. Holt of Graham; a sister, Mrs. Helen Kellam of Graham; three brothers, Mr. Roger M. Holt and Mr. L. Robert Holt, both of Graham, and Mr. John W. Holt of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Bob Stephenson, interim pastor of Glen Hope Baptist Church.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mr. Frank Hatfield
BURLINGTON - Mr. Frank Hatfield of 730 Sharpe Road, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at the Hospice Home of Burlington after a long illness.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Edna Maness Hatfield, and the son of Mr. James Hatfield and Mrs. Effie Bigelow Hatfield, both deceased. He was a farmer and a member of Stoney Creek AME Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Mr. Frank Hatfield Jr. and Mr. Ronnie Lee Hatfield, both of Burlington; nine daughters, Mrs. Peggy Haith, the Rev. Helen Pennix, Mrs. Frankie Watlington, Mrs. Barbara Daye, Ms. Dorothy Hatfield and Miss Teressa Hatfield, all of Burlington, Mrs. Patricia Watson of St. Albans, W.Va., Mrs. Lillian Dickerson of Graham, the Rev. Brenda Corbett of Reidsville; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stoney Creek AME Church by the Rev. James Swain, pastor, and Bishop Charlie P. Pulliam, IWFC Memorial Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Sharpe Memorial Chapel from 5:45 to 6:45 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mr. C.M. Carroll Jr.
BURLINGTON - Mr. Claude Macon 'Skip' Carroll Jr., 51, of 4003 Markwood Drive, died at 10:46 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at his home, after six months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ellen Manring Carroll, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Betty Jane Brincefield Carroll, who survives, and the late Mr. Claude Macon Carroll Sr. He was an employee of Imperial Vault Company and was a Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Graham include four daughters, Miss Jeana Marie Carroll and Miss Lisa Dawn Carroll, both of the home, and Miss Tammy Lynn Carroll and Miss Nancy Louise Carroll, both of Pittsboro; a son, Mr. Claude Wayne Carroll of the home; two brothers, Mr. David Carroll of Burlington and Mr. Timmy Carroll of Winthrom, Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Diane McCartha of Burlington and Mrs. Linda Casparian of Franklin, Mass; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. John Flood and the Rev. Robbie Lowe. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.

Mrs. Eva Corbett
HILLSBOROUGH - Mrs. Eva Corbett died Dec. 27, 1997, in her home.
A native of Granville County, she was the wife of Mr. George Corbett, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Lennie Montangue and Mrs. Marie Thorpe Montangue, both deceased. She received her education in Granville County, and attended Fayetteville State University and Winston-Salem State College, where she received her bachelor's degree in education. She received her master's degree in education from North Carolina A&T State University and worked toward her doctorate at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She worked as a secretary for the extension service in Alamance County, a teacher in Wilkes County, Cedar Grove Elementary School, C.W. Stanford, and Orange County, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Belton Creek Baptist Church in Granville County, First Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro, and Mt. Bright Baptist Church and First Community Baptist Church, both in Hillsborough.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include one son, Mr. George Lennie Corbett, of the home; and two sisters, Ms. Francis Harris of East Orange, N.J., and Mrs. Georgie Anna Evans of Butner.
The funeral will be conducted at noon today at First Community Baptist Church by the Rev. William Richardson. Burial will be in White Oak Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be at First Community Baptist Church one hour before the service.

Mr. John I. Efird
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Mr. John I. Efird, 72, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Forrest General Hospital after a long illness.
A native of Stanley County, he was the husband of Mrs. Cordia Efird, who survives.
A graduate of Elon College, he was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
He had lived in Hattiesburg for the past 32 years. He joined J.C. Penney Company in 1951 as a retail merchant and in 1971 opened Efird's Stores in Hattiesburg, Petal and Laurel, Miss. He was a charter member of Hattiesburg Industrial Board, past president of Hattiesburg Sales and Marketing Executives, member of the Mississippi Economic Council, the Mississippi Retail Merchants Association, member and past president of Hattiesburg Area Chamber of Commerce, the Laurel Chamber of Commerce and Petal Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Methodist Hospital and Trustmark National Bank and was past president of the Hattiesburg Rotary Club, a charter member of the Petal Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where he had served as a member and chairman of the Administrative Board, Chairman of the Finance Committee and a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors other than his wife of Hattiesburg include a daughter, Ms. Elizabeth Floyd of Hattiesburg; a son, Mr. Eric Efird of Hattiesburg; four brothers, Mr. H.D. Efird, Mr. Everett Efird, Mr. Loyde Efird and Mr. Buren Efird, all of North Carolina; a stepbrother, Mr. Carl Misenheimer of North Carolina; a stepsister, Ms. Lexie Mae Rogers of North Carolina; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. today at Main Street United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg by the Rev. David Price. Burial will be in Roseland Park Cemetery.

Mr. Claude A. Wade
HILLSBOROUGH - Mr. Claude Andrew 'Stormy' Wade, 71, died Saturday, June 27, 1998, at Brookshire Nursing Facility.
Born July 14, 1926, he was the husband of Mrs. Alberta Ruffin Wade who survives, and the son of Mr. Claude Wade and Mrs. Elsie Terrell Wade, both deceased. He was a farmer and later worked for White Furniture Company. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors other than his wife include five daughters, Ms. Virginia Watkins, Ms. Gloria Pearley, Ms. Carolyn Wade, Ms. Kaye Wade and Ms. Glenda Wade, all of Hillsborough; five sons, Mr. Andrew Wade, Mr. Michael Wade and Mr. Wallace Wade, all of Cedar Grove, Mr. Larry Wade of Hillsborough and Mr. Nathaniel Wade of Rougemont; three brothers, Mr. Alvin Parker and Mr. Thomas Parker, both of Hillsborough, and Mr. Alexander Wade of Cedar Grove; two sister, Ms. Hassie Long of Durham and Ms. Mary Kenion of Hillsborough; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Payne's Chapel AME Church by the Rev. T.C. Nicholson and the Rev. Dorothy Nordt. Burial will be in Warren's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Paul J. Williams
LONG BEACH - Mr. Paul Judson Williams, 66, of 110 N.E. 40th St., died Saturday, June 27, 1998, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. He was a former resident of Elon College.
Born July 5, 1931, in Butler County, Ala., he was the husband of Mrs. Leslie Black Williams, who survives, and the son of Mr. James Marvin Williams and Mrs. Nancy Marie Spann Williams, both deceased. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of Auburn University, and was retired as an electrical engineer from AT&T after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Ocean View United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include one son, Mr. Jud Williams of Lafayette, Colo.; a daughter, Ms. Mandy Williams of Burlington; four brothers, Mr. Wilbur Williams, Mr. Sidney Williams, Mr. J.V. Williams and Mr. Rex Williams, all of Alabama; and two sisters, Ms. Nell Williams Till and Ms. Wynona Williams Jones, both of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ocean View United Methodist Church by the Rev. Fred Roberts. A second funeral will be conducted Friday morning at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Georgiana, Ala. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Peacock-Newnam Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 Tuesday evening.

Kelsey E. Henderson
GRAHAM - Kelsey Elizabeth Henderson, 6-week-old daughter of Mr. Keith Henderson and Mrs. Judy Henderson of 1158 Southern High School Road, Burlington, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Alamance County.
Survivors other than her parents of the home include a sister, Haley Ann Henderson of the home; and grandparents, Mr. Glenn Henderson and Mrs. Jean Garrison Henderson of Snow Camp and Mr. Donald Parks and Mrs. Katrine Parks of Knoxville, Pa.

Mr. W. Fred Cox Sr.
LEASBURG - Mr. William Fred Cox Sr., 77, of 6472 U.S. Highway 158 East, died Sunday, June 29, 1998, at his home.
A native of Rockingham County, he was the husband of Mrs. Estelle Tatum Cox, who survives, and the son of Mr. Charlie Cox and Mrs. Pencie Collins Cox. He was a farmer and worked at Big Sale Warehouse in Danville, Va., for 30 years. He was a member of the Prospect Hill Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a past member of the Caswell County Board of Education, a soil conservationist for 36 years, and ASCS member for 30 years. He was a member of Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee and on various committees.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include one son, Mr. Fred Cox Jr.; two daughters, Ms. Shirley C. Deal and Ms. Donna C. Tompkins, all of Leasburg; one brother, Mr. Ervin Cox of Madison; one sister, Ms. Anna 'Teany' C. Meeler of Leasburg; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Herman Absher, the Rev. Ken Durham and the Rev. Vann Spivey. Burial will be in Person Memorial Cemetery.
