Mrs. Rosa Mooneyham
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Rosa Andrews Mooneyham, 94, of 510 Logan St., Burlington, died at 6:08 Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at her home after several years of failing health.
A native of Burlington, she was the wife of the late Mr. Harold Ernest Mooneyham, and the daughter of Mr. T. Cicero Andrews and Mrs. Daisy Baulding Andrews, both deceased. She was a charter member of the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Willa Loy Sunday School Class. She was a life member of the P.T.A.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Wayne Mooneyham of Burlington and Mr. Lynn Mooneyham of Graham; three sisters, Mrs. Homer (Thelma) Hayes and Mrs. Herbert (Doris) Hall, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Floyd (Evelyn) Guinn of Pinehurst; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Earl Reid Mooneyham; seven brothers, Mr. Cecil Andrews, Mr. Tommy Andrews, Mr. Bruce Andrews, Mr. Frank Andrews, Mr. Robert Andrews, Mr. Paul Andrews and Mr. Marvin Andrews; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Rich, Mrs. Nancy Sumner and Mrs. Hazel Cozart; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Tim Robinson and the Rev. Peter Kemeny, pastors. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times, at the home.
Mr. Richard Allmond Sr.
MEBANE - Mr. Richard Earl Allmond Sr., 70, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, after a long illness.
Born Jan. 26, 1928, in Danville, Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Betty Freeman Allmond who survives, and the son of Mr. Gary Turner Allmond and Mrs. Martha Eva Day Allmond, both deceased. He was retired from Carolina Hosiery after 10 years of service. He was a Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife include three sons, Mr. Richard E. Allmond Jr. of Mebane, Mr. Timothy Allmond of Burlington and Mr. Roger Gray Allmond of Graham; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Sherry W. Martin of Mebane; four stepsons, Mr. Donald Wall, Mr. Ronald Wall and Mr. Mike Wall, all of Burlington, and Mr. Gary Wall of Mebane; three sisters, Mrs. Lolene Stewart and Mrs. Virginia Drew, both of Florida, and Mrs. Shirley Morris of Mebane; three brothers, Mr. Clarence Allmond of Mebane, Mr. James Allmond of South Carolina, and Mr. Eugene Allmond of Sanford; two grandchildren; nine stegrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. L.P. Allmond and Mr. Billy Ray Allmond.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alamance Memorial Park Chapel by the Rev. Buster Florence.
The family will be at Walker's Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home, 801 Trollingwood-Hawfield Road, Mebane.

Mrs. Margaret G. Ray
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Mrs. Margaret Gravitt Ray, 89, of 1080 Seven Oakes Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at the home of her son, Mr. Scott Ray.
She was born in Halifax County, Va. April 24, 1908, and was the wife of the late Mr. Kermit Lucias Ray, and daughter of Mr. James M. Gravitt and Mrs. Mary Long Gravitt, both deceased. She was a member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Mr. Lucias K. Ray of Richmond, Va., Mr. Ira M. Ray of Buffalo Junction, Va., Mr. Scott B. Ray and Mr. Douglas M. Ray, both of South Boston; two daughters, Ms. Beatrice Ray Sadler of South Boston and Ms. Dianne Ray Conner of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Bailey Gravitt Lloyd of Bedford; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Harvey Warnick.
The family will be at the home of Mr. Scott Ray and Mrs. Emily Ray, 1080 Seven Oakes Drive, South Boston.

Mrs. Myra V. Morris
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Myra Vaden 'Loving' Morris, 83, of 629-C Shadowood Apartments, died at 1:42 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
A native of Pittsylvania County, Va., she was the wife of Dr. Clarence Poe Morris, who died in 1992, and the daughter of Mr. John A. Vaden and Mrs. Myra Lillard Vaden, both deceased. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Fannie Larkin Sunday School Class. She was actively involved with her husband's long-time Methodist ministry with Camp Don Lee and the United Methodist Church Board of Education. The Fellowship Lodge at Camp Chestnut was dedicated to Dr. and Mrs. Morris' work in the church conference.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Myra Buff of Burlington; three sons, Mr. Jerome Morris of Burlington, Mr. Joel Morris of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Dr. David Morris of Lexington, S.C.; a brother, Mr. Claude Vaden of Danville, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Carmen Funk of Danville, Va.; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Alamance Memorial Park by Dr. William C. Simpson, pastor of Front Street United Methodist Church, and Dr. G. Robert McKenzie, pastor emeritus.
The family will be at the home of a daughter, 1516 Cherry Drive, Burlington.

Infant Alejandro Zavala
BURLINGTON - Alejandro Lee Zavala, infant son of Mr. Luis Alex Robles Zavala and Ms. Wanda Maxine Toney of 2848 Lot 20, Maple Ave., Burlington, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Alamance County.
Survivors other than his parents include maternal grandparents, Mrs. Bobbie Jo Davis and Mr. Terry Lee Toney, both of Burlington; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Herminia Zavala of Honduras; maternal great-grandparents, Mrs. Rita Patterson of Graham and Mr. Jack Patterson of Burlington.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today [Monday] at Graham Memorial Park.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. this afternoon, and at other times at the home.
Mrs. Bertha M. Green
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Bertha May Green, 85, of 1711 Belmont St., died at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro after three years of failing health, one year critical.
She was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Burke County. She was the wife of the late Mr. E.T. Green and daughter of Mr. Thomas Helmes and Mrs. Annie Helmes, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Guiding Light Baptist Church of Elon College.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Earline Evans of the home; three brothers, Mr. John Helmes, Mr. Jeff Helmes and Mr. Wilford Helmes, all of Valdese; three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Cable of Elon College, Mrs. Dorothy Wade of Roxboro and Mrs. Minnie Loman of Morganton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Max Rich. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Mr. Bobby D. Smith
YANCEYVILLE - Mr. Bobby Dwight Smith, 65, of 6053 N.C. 119 South, Mebane, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center after two months of failing health.
He was born in Caswell County Aug. 26, 1932. He was the husband of Mrs. Georgia Ann Pleasant Smith who survives, and the son of Mr. Joseph T. Smith and Mrs. Sallie Oakley Smith, both deceased. He was a retired farmer and drove for Associated Transport for 15 years. He attended Caswell County Schools and was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Arctic Test Branch in Big Delta, Alaska. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Mr. David Ross Smith and Mr. Thomas Dwight Smith, both of Yanceyville; three sisters, Ms. Shirley Smith Vernon of Yanceyville, Ms. Marion Smith Montgomery of McLeansville and Ms. Mary Ellen Smith English of Greensboro; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hooper Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Thomas Denny and the Rev. Claude Harrelson. Burial will be in Hebron United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Willie Cobb Paylor of 5654 N.C. 61 North, Gibsonville, died at 3:43 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Ada Wannamaker
ST. MATTHEWS, S.C. - Mrs. Ada Crider Wannamaker, 99, of St. Matthews, died Sunday morning, Feb. 22, 1998, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.
A native of Calhoun County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Harry D. Wannamaker, and daughter of Mr. Elliott R. Crider and Mrs. Clara Rucker Crider, both deceased. She was a former school teacher, and a long time resident of Graham. She was a member of Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church, the Ladies Sunday school class and the Golden Age Group of the church.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Lula C. Matthews and Mrs. Jettie C. Staley, both of Orangeburg.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jack Poole. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Judie R. Newman
ROXBORO - Mrs. Judie Richmond Newman, 55, of 429 George St., died Friday morning, Feb. 20, 1998, at Twin Lakes Nursing Home in Burlington.
Survivors include one son, Mr. David Newman of Roxboro; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Lester of Roxboro, Mrs. Fannie Bradsher of New Rochelle, N.Y. and Mrs. Joyce Pettiford of Burlington; three brothers, Mr. Joe Richmond of Laurel, Md., Mr. Bennie Richmond and Mr. Dennis Richmond, both of Burlington; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Baptist Church in Leasburg by the Rev. Haywood Smith and the Rev. Larry Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bobby L. Gray Jr.
BURLINGTON - Mr. Bobby Lee 'Rocky' Gray Jr. 42 of 1314 Briarcliff Road died at 5 a.m. Monday March 2 1998 at his home after a long illness.
A native of Warren County, he was the husband of Mrs. Lori Montgomery Gray, who survives, and the son of Mr. Bobby Lee Gray Sr., who survives, and the late Mrs. Annie Stegall Gray. He was a partner in Roctab Hair Salons. He was a former member of the Cosmetology Advisory Board of Alamance Community College, former president of the Cum Park Plaza Merchants' Association, was a former D.J. and owner and operator of Ed Music Mania. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elon College.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and father of the home include a son, Mr. Beau Montgomery Gray of the home; a daughter, Miss Somer Deane Gray of the home; and a brother, Mr. Tab Gray of Burlington.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Elon College by the Rev. Norman Harris, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Magnolia cemetery in Elon College.

MEBANE - Mrs. Elsie Rachel Stewart, 88, of 105 Hillside Drive, Burlington, died Monday, March 2, 1998, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
Born May 8, 1909, in Mebane, she was the wife of Mr. Finley W. Stewart, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Clay King and Mrs. Emma Sykes King, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church for 30 years.
Survivors other than her husband of Burlington include two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Buffaloe of Lumberton and Mrs. Sara Ann Holt of Asheboro; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Claude King; and three sisters, Ms. Fellie Smith, Ms. Willie Miles and Ms. Dellie King.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakwood cemetery by Dr. Michael Hobbs and the Rev. R.E.L. Moser.
