MEBANE - Mr. Davey Roosevelt Richmond of 714 W. McKinley St., died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at his home.
He was the husband of Mrs. Hallie Frances Crisp Richmond, who survives.

Mr. William Bush Jr.
CHARLOTTE - Mr. William Horace Bush Jr. of Charlotte died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Wesley Nursing Center.
Born March 30, 1912, in Hickory, he was the husband of 64 years of Mrs. Lucile Fowler Bush, who survives. He was the son of Mr. William Horace Bush and Mrs.
Ethel Williams Bush, both deceased. He was a former employee of Brown
Equipment Co. in Charlotte and Associated Transport Co. in Burlington. He was
a long-time member of Glenwood ARP Church in Charlotte, First ARP Church in
Burlington and Back Creek ARP Church in Charlotte.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Bush Watson of Charlotte; two sons, Mr. Stewart Fowler Bush of Charlotte and Mr. William H. Bush III of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; two brothers, Mr. Oscar W. Bush of Charlotte and Mr. Robert V. Bush of Swansboro; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Roy Edward Bush and Mr. Thomas Edison Bush.
The funeral was conducted Monday at Back Creek ARP Church. Private burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Baxter Smith Jr.
RED SPRINGS - Mr. Baxter C. Smith Jr., 82, of 1580 Arthur Road, Wakulla, died Monday, March 9, 1998, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Born Nov. 2, 1915, in Robeson County, he was the husband of Mrs. Flora S. Smith, who survives, and the son of Mr. Baxter C. Smith Sr. and Mrs. Augusta McArthur Smith, both deceased. He was a graduate of Red Springs High School, Davidson College and Harver Business School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he was a former steward and trustee.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Mr. Baxter C. Smith III of Burlington and Mr. Samuel D. Smith of Red Springs; a sister, Ms. Flora S. Irby of Red Springs and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jo-Ann Oulton. Burial will be in Alloway cemetery in Red Springs.
The family will be at Crumpler Funeral Home of Red Springs from 7 to 9 this evening .

Mr. Belton Brigman Jr.
MEBANE - Mr. Belton 'E.B.' Brigman Jr., 71, of 708 N. Carr St., died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of McCall, S.C., he was the husband of the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rogers Brigman and the son of Mr. Elijah Belton Brigman Sr. and Mrs. Juanita Harris Brigman, both deceased. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 272 for 25 years and a veteran.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Lisa Brigman Wallace of Mebane; two sons, Mr. Robert Bruce Brigman of Fairfax, Va., and Mr. Joseph Warren Brigman of Mebane; two brothers, Mr. Thurman Brigman and Mr. Foy Brigman, both of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Oakwood cemetery by the Rev. Terry Farmer and the Rev. Alan Ritter.
Mrs. Alene M. Daye
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Alene Mitchell Daye, 63, of 2574 Albert Jeffries Road, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A native of Orange County, she was the wife of Mr. James H. Daye, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Fitch Mitchell and Mrs. Mary Cooper Mitchell, both deceased. She was a member of Miles Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Ms. Joyce M. Daye of Burlington; three sons, Mr. Kenneth L. Daye of Burlington, Mr. Michael T. Daye of McLeansville and Mr. Andy B. Daye of Mebane; three sisters, Mrs. Vergie Parker and Mrs. Ada M. Lee of Burlington and Mrs. Mary Leath of Graham; two brothers, Mr. James Marvin Mitchell of Gibsonville and Mr. Walter Lloyd Mitchell of Caswell County; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Miles Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Bruce Hurst, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
The family will be at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home from 7 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
Mr. Thomas Nunn III
NORTH WILKESBORO - Mr. Thomas Nunn III, 43, of Prospect Drive, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at his home.
A native of Bluefield, W.Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Roxanna Hart Nunn, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Jean Nichols Nunn, who survives, and the late Mr. Thomas Nunn Jr.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of North Wilkesboro, include two sons, Mr. Thomas Nunn IV of Yanceyville and Mr. Joshua Bryan Nunn of North Wilkesboro; two brothers, Mr. William P. Nunn of North Wilkesboro and Mr. Walter Nichols of Newton; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Killen and Mrs. Ann Powell of North Wilkesboro and Mrs. Brenda Coalson of Walkertown and one grandchild.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Oak Grove Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro by the Rev. Glenn Caudill and the Rev. Donald McClary. Burial was in Mountlawn Memorial Park.

LAURINBURG - Mr. Hallie H. Hearn, 70, of 2983 Westmanor Drive, Marianna, Fla., a former resident of Graham, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, in Chesapeake, Va.
He was a native of Laurinburg.

Mrs. Emma C.P. Soots
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Emma Catherine Parrish Soots, 84, of 2106 Wilkins St., died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Starmount Health & Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Paris Soots and the daughter of Mr. William W. Parrish and Mrs. Emma Catherine Thomas Parrish, both deceased. She was retired from Dixie Belle and a member of Friedens Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Ms. Agnes Evans of Martinsville, Va., Mrs. Beatrice Wallace of Gibsonville and Ms. Betty Smith of Burlington; a son, Mr. Leonard Soots of Burlington; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Richard A. Rhoades, pastor of Friedens Lutheran Church in Gibsonville.
The family will be at Bartlett Funeral Home in Gibsonville from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of a daughter of 713 N. Graham-Hopedale Road, Burlington.
Mrs. Ruth B. Jones
SANFORD - Mrs. Ruth Bell Jones, 89, of 2002 Woodland Ave., died Monday, March 9, 1998, at Central Carolina Hospital.
A native of Wake County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Wade B. Jones, who was owner /operator of Jones Printing Co. She operated the Sanford Book & Stationery Store for many years.
Survivors include a son, Mr. Robert B. Jones of Graham; a sister, Ms. Dorothy Whittington of Chapel Hill and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rogers Memorial Chapel in Sanford by the Rev. Paul Leeland. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.
The family will be at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home from 3 to 5 this afternoon.
Mrs. Betty D.C. Parker
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Betty Dian Cobb Parker, 47, of 1412 Cloverdale St., died at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of Mr. Alandrew Joseph Parker, who survives, and the daughter of Mrs. Mary C. Yancey, who survives. She was employed with the Alamance/Burlington School System at Cummings High School.
She was a former member of Jack & Jill of America Inc., and First Baptist Church, Apple Street, where she annually worked with Vacation Bible School and the Youth Department.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and mother of Jones Rest Home in Burlington, include a daughter, Miss Tiffany Nicole Parker of the home; a son, Mr. Stephen M. Parker of Greensboro and a sister, Mrs. Robin Stokes of Danville, Va.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Rayfield Cobb.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Apple Street, by Dr. Richard W. Styles Sr., pastor. Burial will be in Martin's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home from 6:30 to 7:30 this
evening.

Mr. James R. Pugh
BURLINGTON - Mr. James Randolph Pugh, 70, of 2044 Chapel Hill Road, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
A native of Randolph County, he was the son of Mr. John Wesley Pugh and Mrs. Lula McBride Pugh, both deceased. He was a retired truck driver/ mechanic in Martinsville, Va. He volunteered at Eastern Randolph High School by selling Christmas trees and working ballgames to raise money for the school. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0125.
Survivors include a niece and several nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mr. William Carl Pugh, Mr. Thomas Arnold Pugh and Mr. Boyd Ray Pugh; and a sister, Ms. Mary Lee Craven.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Hill. Burial will be at White's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
