Ms. Mary D. Torian
DURHAM - Ms. Mary Dunnagan 'Mutt' Torian died Friday, March 13, 1998, at Durham Regional Hospital.
She was the daughter of Mr. Charlie Dunnagan and Mrs. Annie Mack Dunnagan, both deceased.
Survivors include four sons, Mr. James Torian, the Rev. Bennie Torian, Mr. Joseph Torian and Mr. Willie Torian, all of Durham; four daughters, Ms. Annie Torian, Ms. Bessie Torian, Ms. Barbara Torian and Ms. Carolyn Torian, all of Durham; two sisters, Ms. Bessie Dunnagan of Pittsburg and Ms. Leora D. Jones of Durham; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cain's Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Jarvis Johnson, pastor, and the Rev. Bennie C. Torian. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Eugene L. Toler
CLOVIS, Calif. - Mr. Eugene L. Toler, 68, died March 12, 1998, in Clovis.
A former resident of Burlington, he was retired from General Construction Local 294 after 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ms. Marlene Toler.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Clovis Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

Mr. Hubert Satterfield
GRAHAM - Mr. Hubert A. Satterfield, 85, of 779 Woody Drive, died at 2:48 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Alamance in Graham. He was a former resident of 507 S. Fourth St., Mebane.
Born July 3, 1912, in Orange County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Eleanor Carlisle Herritage Satterfield, and the son of Mr. John Satterfield and Mrs. Ara McDade Satterfield. He was retired owner and operator of Satterfield Grocery Store in Mebane. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Mebane United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Miller of Burlington, Mrs. Sandra Rogers of Mocksville and Mrs. Sherri Garrett of Columbia, S.C.; one son, Mr. Ronald Satterfield of Graham; two sisters, Ms. Hazel McLeod of Sarasota, Fla. and Ms. Hilda McLeod of Palm Beach, Fla.; a half sister, Ms. Nina Albright of Mebane; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Oakwood cemetery in Mebane by the Rev. Al Trotter, pastor of Mebane United Methodist Church.
The family will be at the home of the son, Mr. Ronald Satterfield, 707 Oakgrove Drive, Graham.

Mr. Leonza Graves
REIDSVILLE - Mr. Leonza 'Hawk' Graves, 51, of 86 Stoney Creek School Road, died Friday, March 13, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Born Aug. 16, 1946, in Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ollie Totten Graves, who survives, and the son of Mr. Tony McCaden Graves who survives, and the late Mrs. Bertha Graves. He was employed by Glen Raven Mills in Burlington and was a member of Blackwell Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and his father of Yanceyville include two daughters, Miss Jessica Graves of the home and Miss Veda Hightower of Reidsville; one son, Mr. Jeffrey Leon Graves of the home; three brothers, Mr. Randy Graves of Baltimore, Mr. James Graves of Orlando, Fla., and Mr. Raymond Graves of Mississippi; three sisters, Mrs. Delores Johnson, Mrs. Joyce Southern and Miss Gladys McCaden, all of Yanceyville; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blackwell Baptist Church by the Rev. Everett Dickerson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Blackwell Baptist Church from 7 to 8 Tuesday evening and at other times at the home.

Mr. Joe Pruitt
YANCEYVILLE - Mr. Joe Pruitt, 79, of 763 Kimbro Road, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 6, 1918, in Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Sallie Barker Pruitt who survives, and the son of Mr. Tom Pruitt and Mrs. Lillie Mae Pruitt Pruitt. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and a Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife include four daughters, Ms. Edith Davis and Ms. Jane Soloman, both of Yanceyville, Ms. Dean Massey of Danville, Va., and Ms. Elizabeth Fuqua of West Yanceyville; one son, Mr. Harold Pruitt of Yanceyville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Yanceyville United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Clitus Grubbs.
The family will be at the home of a daughter, Ms. Elizabeth Fuqua, 2228 U.S. Hwy. 158 West, Yanceyville.

Mrs. Kylie Champion
HILLSBOROUGH - Mrs. Kylie Cash Champion, 92, of 300 Meadowland Drive, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Brookshire Rest Home in Hillsborough, after a long illness.
A native of Granville County, she was the wife of the late Mr. James Edgar Champion, and the daughter of Mr. Sherman Cash and Mrs. Martha Lunsford Cash, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Mr. John Edward Champion of Stovall; two daughters, Ms. Peggie Champion Reeves and Ms. Patricia Champion Ellixson, both of Durham; a sister, Ms. Blanche Bailey of Northside; 14 grandchildren, some of whom live in Alamance County; and 10 great-grandchildren, some of whom live in Alamance County.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Mr. David Carold Champion and Mr. W.N. 'Bobby' Champion; a brother, Mr. Samuel Cash; three sisters, Ms. Lillian Stevenson, Ms. Gladys Norwood and Ms. Ida Elliott; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Hudson Funeral Chapel by the Rev. James Boyd. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home of Mr. Gene Ellixson, 5601 Ponderosa Drive.
Mr. William Malpass Jr.
GRIFTON - Mr. William Hanson 'Bill' Malpass Jr., 86, formerly of Goldsboro, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A native of Pender County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Mildred Pelt Malpass, and the son of Mr. William Hanson Malpass Sr., and Mrs. Katie Omelia Cashwell Malpass, both deceased. He was a retired insurance agent. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Goldsboro, where he taught Sunday school and was a former deacon and youth leader.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Marlene M. Smith of Grifton; a son, Mr. William H. Malpass III of Burlington; two brothers, Mr. Donald Malpass and Mr. Craven Malpass, both of Goldsboro; a sister, Ms. Gwendolyn Malpass Laing of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Wayne Memorial Park by the Rev. Gordon Hart.
The family will be at the home of Mr. Donald Malpass and Ms. Gwendolyn M. Laing, 1700 Rose St., Goldsboro.

Mr. John D. Wicker
FAYETTEVILLE - Mr. John David Wicker, retired U.S. Army Master Sgt., 53, of 245 Lovington Drive, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, in Womack Army Hospital in Fort Bragg.
A native of Burlington, he was the husband of Mrs. Aungfar K. Wicker, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Mary G. Wicker, who survives. He attended Western Alamance High School and graduated from Methodist College in Fayetteville with a master in business administration degree. He developed the procedure for the successful extinguishing of the oil well fires in Kuwait.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Burlington include a son, Mr. Sed Wicker of Wurzburg, Germany; a daughter, Mrs. Mana McCaig of Great Falls, Mont.; a brother, Mr. Autry L. Wicker of Mebane; and two sisters, Mrs. Shirley W. Isley of Burlington and Mrs. Carol W. Strickland of Graham.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veteran cemetery with full military honors.
The family will be at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening.
Mrs. Josephine Mitchell
MEBANE - Mrs. Josephine Shelton Mitchell, 85, of 1742 Miles Chapel Road, died at 9:40 a.m. Monday, March 16, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health.
Born March 7, 1913, in Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Samuel Mack Mitchell, and the daughter of Mr. Warren Samuel Shelton and Mrs. Annie Whitsell Shelton, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Mitchell Bradley of Mebane; a son, Mr. James Mack Mitchell of Mebane; two brothers, Mr. Woodrow Wilson Shelton and Mr. James Andrew Shelton, both of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Reavis of Asheboro and Mrs. Alice Loy of Burlington; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. William Luther Shelton; and by three sisters, Mrs. Mable Lee, Mrs. Grace Crumpton and Mrs. Alma Wrenn.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Allen Huff, pastor. Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery in Burlington.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Willie Mae Vincent
HAW RIVER - Mrs. Willie Mae Warren Vincent, 44, died Saturday, March 14, 1998.
Born March 31, 1953, in Orange County, she was the wife of Mr. Garland Vincent, who survives, and the daughter of Mrs. Mable Warren, who survives, and the late Mr. Harry Warren. She attended Central High School in Hillsborough and worked for Flynt Fabrics Textile Mills in Burlington. She was an active member of Mount Calvary Holiness Church in Mebane.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and mother of Hillsborough include two sons, Mr. Kevin Vincent of the home and Mr. Lamont Corbett of Hillsborourgh; a stepson, Mr. Mark A. Vincent of Burlington; a stepdaughter, Ms. Cataina Vincent of Burlington; three sisters, Ms. Christine Farrington and Ms. Velma Madgeline Torain, both of Haw River, and Ms. Marie Parker of Hillsborough; three brothers, Mr. George Torain of Washington, D.C., Mr. James Torain of Cedar Grove and Mr. Lee Warren of Hillsborough; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Paynes Chapel AME Church by Elder Burt Rucker and the Rev. Dorothy Nordt, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
