JOHNSON Mr. Walter Lee Johnson, age 44, of 975 Old Barrett Rd., Ennice, N.C., died Sunday evening, April 30, 2000, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He is survived by his father, Eugene Johnson of Sparta, N.C.; four sisters, Ella Billings, Brenda Cochran, Juanita Combs all of Sparta, and Patsy Daniel of Eden, N.C.; two brothers, Michael David Johnson and Omar Johnson, both of Ennice, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Memorial Chapel with Burial in the Scottville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home in Sparta, and at other times at the home of a sister, Ella Billings, 462 Maple St., Sparta, N.C.
PARDUE Mrs. Nannie Lou Gentry Pardue of 830 Pardue Rd., Sparta, N.C., died Sunday morning, April 30, 2000 at Sunbridge Healthcare in Sparta. She died on her 95th birthday. She was the widow of Claude Gilmer Pardue, Sr. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Bennie Carter of Boonesmill, Va.; two sons and daughtes-in-law, Claude Gilmer Jr., and Betty Jo Pardue of Traphill, N.C., and Harold and Mary Pardue of Sparta; one sister, Mrs. Virgie Emma Connor of Salisbury, N.C.; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Memorial Chapel, with Burial in the Antioch Cemetery in the Stratford Community. ALLISON Mrs. Lena Reid Allison, age 88, of West Whitehead St., Sparta, N.C., died Tuesday afternoon, April 25, 2000, at the Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Independence, Va. She was the widow of Bob Allison. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Ed Adams of Sparta; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie and Ben Ray Mills of Statesville, N.C., and Wilma Fox of Mayodan, N.C. Funeral services will be conducted Thusday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Sparta United Methodist Church with Burial in the Sparta Cemetery. FRANCE Mrs. Linda Gale Eary France, age 54, of 104 Hodge Street, Sparta, NC, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at her home. She is survived by her husband, Bill France of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Dean Trivett of Sparta, Michele and Dean Todd, and Stacey and Marty Cochran, all of Ennice, NC; five grandchildren; her mother, Lucy Eary of Elyria, Ohio; six sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pat William of Ohio, Alberta Price of Asheville, NC, Margaret Isles of Oklahoma, Grace Sheets of Sparta, Judy and Rex Boone of Stratford, NC, and Dee and Robert Fields of Elyria, Ohio; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Billy Eary and Bobby Eary both of Elyria, Ohio, and Wayne and Byrl Eary of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 21, 2000, at 11:00 AM at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Burial to follow in the Saddle Mountain Cemetery. Rev. James R. WAGONER Mrs. Zora Ellen Joines Wagoner, age 84, of 83 Todd Rd., Sparta, N.C., died Monday evening, April 17, at her home. She is survived by her husband, E. Leff Wagoner, Jr., of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law,; Kay and Eld. Gwyn Hamm, and Jane and Raymond Hodge, all of Sparta; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and special caregivers, Patricia Crouse and Opal Brinegar. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Memorial Chapel with Burial in the Whitehead-Joines Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home in Sparta. FOX Mr. Martin Nicholas (Nick) Fox of Ennice, N.C., passed away April 13, 2000, in the Watauga Medical Center in Boone, N.C. Mr. Fox was born in Akron, Ohio to Frank W. Fox and Rhea M. Fox. He attended Public Schools there. He graduated from West High School and graduated with honors from Yale University in 1942. During WWII, he was a Lt. Sn. Grade in the Lighterthon Air Division of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Claire E. Fox of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn Ann and Allen Ruff, Leslie Christine and John Osborne; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Private Family Memorial Services were held at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home in Sparta, North Carolina
COX June R. Cox, age 70, of 51 Lucas St. Sparta, died Friday morning at her home. She is survived by three sisters, Georgia Cox of the home, Virgie Combs of Springfield, Ohio, and Opal Gentry of Plant City, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Helen Cox of Galax, Va.; one God Child, Shannon Cox Tate of Galax, Va.; special care givers, Junior and Kay Cox; special friends, Carol Loggins and Judy Baldwin; and several nieces and mephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Memorial Chapel with Burial in the Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery. REEVES Mrs. Beulah Elizabeth Douglas Reeves, age 91, of 351 Bridgebrook Lane, Smyrna, Georgia, and formely of Alleghany County, died Tuesday at the Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. She was the widow of Robert Leff Reeves. She is survived by three daughters, Frances R. New of Smyrna, Georgia, Vivian R. Stucky of Falls Church, Va., and Leffene O'Kelley of Lawrenceville, Georgia; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bessie G. Douglas of Winston-Salem and Virginia D. Lundsten of Annapolis, Maryland. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Elk Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Burial in the Church Cemetery. She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Wayne Warden of Laurel Springs, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. CROUSE Eld. Bradie John Crouse, age 89, of 137 Cox Run Road, Sparta, N.C., died Monday evening, April 10, 2000, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Grace Petty Crouse of the home; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Odell and Elvira Crouse, and Gwyn Crouse, all of Sparta. She was the widow of Edward Clay Andrews. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Danny Widener of Sparta, NC, Evelyn and Larry Jones of Woodlawn, Va. and Sylvia and Tommy Cave of State Road, NC; seven grandchildren, Melissa Hughes, Jeff Reeves, Amber Widener, David Jones, Dennis Jones, Karen Myers, and Marty Cave; three great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in law, Genoa and Carrie Griffith of Mt. RECTOR Mrs. Minnie Petty Rector, age 87, of 154 Bledsoe Creek Rd., Sparta, N.C., died Tuesday morning, April 4, 2000 at the Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta. She was the widow of Virgil Petty. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Gene Irwin of Sparta, and Wanda and Roy Rector of Greensboro, N.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Barbara Petty of Laurel Springs, N.C., and Boyden and Wanda Petty of Greensboro; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Blevins of North Wilkesboro, N.C., Beulah Milam of Slab Fork, W.Va., and Mandy Birchfield of Hotchkiss, W.Va.; and one brother, Silas Tedder of Sophia, W.Va.
