He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Dan and Kathy Brooks of Maryville, Tn.; three daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara and Danny Lyon of Sparta, Wanda and Randy Miles of Sumter, SC, and Elizabeth and Jerry Mitchell of North Wilkesboro; his mother: Blanche Royal Brooks of Sparta; three sisters: Marie Pruitt of Laurel Springs, Lois Edwards of Sparta and Treva Bridges of Matthews; three brothers: Cecil Brooks of Sparta, J.D. Brooks of Laurel Springs and Wade Brooks of Katy, Tx. eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, May 3, 2001, at 2 PM at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Burial to follow in the Woodruff Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Elders Earl Baker and Roy Houser will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post # 7034. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home in Sparta. WILLIAMS Mrs. Maggie Crouse Williams of Sparta was born October 16, 1914 and died April 24, 2001 in the Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband: W.G. (Bill) Williams, her son: Wayne Williams and a granddaughter: Nancy Lane. Surviving are three daughters: Geraldine Rose of St. Louis, Mo., Wilma Phipps of Newark, Del. and Iva Higgins of Sparta; four grandchildren: Randall Williams, Judy Brooks, Stephen Rowe and LeAnn Nicholson.; three step-grandchildren: Cathy Novak, Darrell Phipps and Teresa Lane; 10 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one sister: Euna Sadler of Sparta; a special niece: Blanche Wyatt of Piney Creek; a special cousin: Ida Cheek of Sparta and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, April 28, 2001, at 11:00 AM at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Earl Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Sparta Cemetery. RECTOR Mary Whitaker Rector, age 75, of 101 James St., Sparta, N.C., died Sunday morning, April 22, at the Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Margaret Scholbrock, Betty and Gene Anders, all of Sparta; a son and daughter-in-law: Jim and Martha Rector of Glade Valley, N.C.;two grandchildren: Wesley Scholbrock and Constance Anders; and one sister: Bessie Rector of Sparta. She was the widow of Munsey Crouse.
