DEZERN Mr. James Edward Dezern, 76, passed away early Friday morning, Nov. 30, 2001, at home in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born June 28, 1925, in Forsyth County. He served his country in the 101st Airborne Paratroopers during World War II. Surviving the Battle of the Bulge, his family considers him a war hero. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorethea Swaim Dezern; and his father and mother, Eddie and Daisy Dezern. He is survived by his wife Peggy Dezern; two sons, Brad Dezern of Winston-Salem, and Jeff Dezern of Lewisville; a daughter, Karen Brannock of Pfafftown; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three sisters, Madeline Dowell (Sam) of Delaware, Opal Brown of Washington, and Ola Mason of Winston-Salem; and three brothers, Raymond Dezern (Nelda) of Rhonda, Windell Dezern (Irene) of Salisbury, and Bobby Dezern of Pfafftown. He leaves behind many loved ones and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Swan Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Yadkin County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel
WYATT Mr. McDale Wyatt, age 78, of 6484 Hwy. 93, Piney Creek, N.C., died Friday morning, November 30, 2001, at the Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta. He is survived by his wife: Zollie McMillian Wyatt Five sons and daughters-in-law: Roger and Linda Wyatt, Piney Creek, N.C., Ronald and Vicky Wyatt Piney Creek, Randy and Carol Wyatt of Stem, N.C., Rick and Colleen Wyatt of Pine Creek, N.C., and Robert and Merit Wyatt of Las Vegas, Nevada; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Gale and Donald Shepherd of Garner, N.C., Jackie Wyatt of Conway, S.C., Cheryl and Richard Morley of Stem, N.C., and 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Alma Jean Rondeau of Naples, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Grandview Memorial Chapel with Burial in the Pine Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. CAUDILL Mrs. M. Pauline Polly Newbert Caudill, age 82, of 471 Wolfe Branch Road, died Monday, November 26, 2001, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. Survivors include: a great-nephew and wife: Dana P. And Grace Newbert of Lancaster Pa.; and a great-niece: Elizabeth Ann Newbert, also of Lancaster, Pa. HALSEY Carlos Wayne Halsey, age 40, Hwy 93, Sparta, N.C. died Wednesday morning at his home. He is survived by his wife: Donna Belcher Halsey; Two daughters: Heather Lee Ontavaris of Sparta, and Carla Beth Halsey of Sparta; two step-daughters: Sara Jane Meadows of Virginia, and Tiffany Kaye Meadows of Virginia; a step-son: Joseph Dingus of Kentucky; three brothers: Lonnie Clay Halsey of Sparta, Ronnie Lee Halsey of Sparta, and Danny Wayne Halsey of Sparta; a sister: Betty Williams of Sparta; his parents: Carlile and Myrtle Moxley Halsey of Sparta; and his paternal grandmother: Ethel Halsey of Sparta. TOLIVER Mr. Loyd Craig Toliver, age 39, of 1665 Grandview Dr., Sparta, N.C. died Monday, November 26, 2001 in Sparta. He is survived by his wife: Kim Church Toliver of the home; two sons: Loyd Craig Toliver II, and Cory Logan Toliver, both of the home. his parents: Clarence and Muriel Toliver of Sparta; a sister and brother-in-law: Karen and Carl Davis of Galax, Va. two brothers and sisters-in-law: Leonard and Nancy Toliver of Ennice, N.C., and Lee and Debbie Toliver of King, N.C.; his father-in-law and wife: Harold and Judy Church of Sparta, and his mother-in-law and husband: Lynn and Jerry Mullis of Crumpler, N.C. BOONE - Dr. Wayne R. Richardson, 91, of 154 Eastbrook Drive in Boone died Thursday, Nov. 22, at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born Nov. 8, 1910, in Sparta, the son of the late S.C. "Lummie" and Cornelia Reynolds Richardson. He was a graduate of Sparta High School, a 1931 graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Pharmacy, and a licensed pharmacist in North Carolina. He became a resident of Boone in 1939 and he and his brother, Dr. O.K. Richardson, bought Boone Drug Co. in 1945 from Dr. G.K. Moose. Dr. Richardson retired in 1976. He also served on the Boone Town Board of Aldermen, was chairman of the Appalachian District Board of Health, and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Boone. Dr. Richardson is survived by a son, David Richardson and wife Glenda of Sparta; a daughter, Ms. Julie Ann Richardson of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandsons, David B. Williams and wife Tonya of Boone, and Daniel L. Williams of West Jefferson; a great-grandson, Kirkland L. Williams of West Jefferson; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Choate of Wilkesboro, and Mrs. Maude Andrews of Panama City, Fla.; and two brothers, Woodrow C. "Woody" Richardson and wife Vera of Boone, and Arzie Richardson and wife Lucille of Independence, Va. He also is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Melissa Crouse Richardson; four sisters, Zora Irwin, and Bessie, Clara, and Beulah Richardson; and three brothers, Glenn, O.K., and Albert Richardson. Funeral services for Dr. Wayne R. Richardson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Officiating will be Dr. Ronald L. Bowie. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens. TRIPLETT Mr. Jarvis Ray Triplett, age 44, of 137 Mary Lane Sparta, N.C., died Tuesday evening, November 20, 2001, at his home. He is survived by his wife: Tammy Carico Triplett of the home; two sons: Scotty Triplett of Sparta and Cody Triplett of the home; his parents: Junior and Doris Sturgill Triplett of Sparta; one brother and sister-in-law: Ken and Ann Triplett of Sparta; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Joyce and Jerry Flippen of Mt. MOXLEY Mr. Reece Moxley, better known as "Preacher" age 72 of 188 Moxley Hollow Rd., Sparta, N.C., died Monday evening November 12, 2001, at the Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta. He was preceded in death by a son: Danny Moxley, brothers, Robert Lee, Burt Junior, James Roger and Buddy Moxley and a sister, Mary Lee Lane.
