JONES Mr. Richard Lewis "R.L." Jones, age 63, of 370 Scotts Creek Rd., Statesville, NC., died Saturday evening, June 29, 2002, at the Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Petty Jones of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and James Hicks of Walkertown, NC; a son, Richie Jones of the home; two grandchildren, Vance and Katherine Hicks; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Arzie Adams, Lorene Bedwell, Iva and Jimmy Saltz, JoAnn and George Plummer, all of Piney Creek, NC. Six nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning July 2, 2002 at the Grandview Memorial Chapel with Burial in the South Fork Cemetery at Piney Creek. Military rites will be conducted by the Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post # 7034. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. TRUITT Mr. Talmage William Truitt, age 85, of 38 Truitt Lane, Glade Valley, NC. , died Tuesday morning, June 25, 2002, at the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. He is survived by his wife, Opal Choate Truitt of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Wanda Truitt of Glade Valley, NC; a granddaughter and spouse, Karen and Donnie Dickens of Glade Valley; and two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Katelyn Dickens. ANDREWS Mrs. Ann Nichols Andrews, age 65, of 17 Alleghany Manor Rd., Sparta, NC., died Sunday evening, June 23, 2002 at her home. She is survived by her husband, Clenton Andrews of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Janet Andrews of Stephens City, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and David Caldwell of Roaring Gap, NC; three grandchildren, James Andrews of Blacksburg, Va.; Anna and Claire Caldwell of Roaring Gap; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Gladys Nichols of Sparta; a sister and brother-in-law, Leota and Jay Kerley of Ennice, NC; her mother-in-law, Verna B. BAKER Mrs. Moneta Walker Baker, age 88, of 411 Little River Dr., Sparta, NC.; died Saturday evening, June 15, 2002, at the Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta. Survivors include friends and neighbors. As per her request, she will be laid to rest beside of her beloved husband, Clyde Baker, at the Sparta Cemetery with no ceremony. KILBY Elsa Ruth Brooks Kilby, age 59, of 4 Trailer Park Ln., Sparta, N.C., died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at her home. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Dan Stewart of Elk Creek, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Paula Jones of Mouth of Wilson, Va.; Eric and Cindy Jones of St. Joe, Florida; two grandchildren, Brandy Stewart and Mason Jones; a sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Gale Ward of Richmond, Va.; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Guy and Dot Brooks, Jack and Barbara Brooks, and Russell Brooks, all of Piney Creek, NC.; Bill and Darlene Brooks of Laurel Springs, NC. ROARING GAP - TRAIL Mr. Joe Edgar "Ed" Trail, 73, of 499 Country Club Road, High Meadows Estates, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at his home. Mr. Trail was born in Marion, Va., Jan. 4, 1929, to Joseph and Cosby Cline Trail. He was in the construction business for many years, first at Massey and Trail, then at Trail Builders Inc. He built many of the homes in the Roaring Gap area before his retirement. He was an avid golfer, a friend to many and stranger to none. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Anne Trail, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Kim Trail of Winston-Salem; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra Carol Trail, Diana and Thomas Elsaesser and Debora and Brad Byrd, all of Winston-Salem; a grandson, Joseph Neal Trail, of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Noni Atwood of Marion Va., and Pauline Joy of Atlanta; a brother, Roy Trail, of Marion, Va.; a stepson, Billy Osborne, of Sparta; two stepgrandchildren, Andrea and Ashley Iacobucci; and a special nephew, Mike Joy, of Atlanta. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday morning, June 6, at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Sparta. An interment service will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the Round Hill Cemetery, Marion, Va. The family will gather at the funeral home in Sparta at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
