Wallace Gary Howell, age 63 of Grassy Creek, died Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at the Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Howell was born August 24, 1939 in Ashe County to Fred and Ruth Naomi Baker Howell. His father preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 17th at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Warner Eller and Rev. Reeves Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 2:00 PM prior to the service at Badger Funeral Home. Juanita Gentry Bumgarner age 79 of Fleetwood, NC died August 17, 2002 at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Bumgarner was born on September 18, 1922 in the Baldwin Community in Ashe County, NC to Clyde and Mamie Severt Gentry. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Cole Bumgarner and her son Kenny Bumgarner. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethany United Methodist Church. Rev. Lewis Poag and Rev. Mike Rice will officiate. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in World War II. He retired from the North Carolina Highway Dept. Greer was born in Ashe County, NC on September 10, 1940 to Clarence Elbert and Lola Rosetta Eldreth Greer. He was united in marriage to Frances Marie Ring Greer on May 14, 1965. Rev. Greer made a profession of faith and was baptized at Pleasant Chapel Baptist Church. He was a member at Foster Memorial Church. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Roger Newton, Rev. Burl Greer, and Rev. J.B. Hamm will officiate. Mr. Tam Lyle, age 79, of Jefferson died Saturday evening at the Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC. Mr. Lyle served Ashe and surrounding counties as a carpenter. He was a veteran of WWII serving from 1943-1947. He was a member of the Glendale Springs Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at the Badger Chapel by the Rev. Ted Reynolds, Rev. J.D. Walton, and Mr. Gordon Finney, CLP, pastor, Glendale Springs Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow with military rites at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Lyle is survived by his wife: Mrs. Goldie Bare Lyle of the home, one son: Jerrold Lyle of Jefferson: two daughters: Janie Walton and Glenda Sue Hartzog both of West Jefferson: two sisters: Helen Rose of Glendale Springs and Zeffa Minton of Wilkesboro. Six grandchildren and one great-grandson also survives. Mrs. Lewis was born August 7, 1928 in Ashe County to Elihue and Cindy Eastridge. She managed and operated the Northwestern Lodge in West Jefferson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 14th at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Jefferson Cemetery. Rev. Lloyd Day will officiate.
