Mrs. Charmie Mae Elliott Miller, 81 of Jefferson, died Sunday morning, September 7, 2003, at the Ashe Living Center in Jefferson. Mrs. Miller was born Feb. 13, 1922 to Dora and Wiley Elliott. She was the widow of Mr. Duard Miller. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 PM at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Fred Richardson, and Rev. Tommy Dollar. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 prior to the services. The burial will follow in the Staggs Creek Community cemetery in Warrensville, NC. Mrs. Miller is survived by one sister, Jean Hanes of High Point, NC; one sister-in-law, Ms. Janice Elliott of Warrensville, one brother-in-law, Von Turner of West Jefferson; step-daughter, Janet Miller of Ohio: special cousin, Virginia Ashley of Jefferson: and a special care-giver, Cindy Rupard of Warrensville, NC. Ardna Mae Church Blackburn age 80 of Fleetwood, NC died Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at the Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC. Mrs. Blackburn was born on June 19, 1922 in Ashe County, NC to Lindsey and Adeline Payne Blackburn. She was preceded in death by three brothers Willard, Clark, and Edward Church, and one sister Iris Blackburn. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 12, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gap Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Paul Coffey will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 11, 2002 from 7:00 till 9:00 P.M. at Badger Funeral Home. Mr. Raymond Whitehouse, age 90, of West Jefferson, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at the Ashe Living Center in Jefferson, North Carolina. Mr. Whitehouse was a Sergeant serving the Jacksonville, Florida Police Force. He retired in l967. He was a member of the Jacksonville, Florida Morocco Shriner’s Temple and Barnett Lodge #187 where he was awarded a Certificate of Fifty Years’ Service in 2001. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Memorial services for Mr. Whitehouse will be conducted on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Louis Poag and members of the Ashe Masonic Lodge # 594. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial services at Badger Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at a later date. Mr. Whitehouse is survived by his wife: Mrs. Ruby Whitehouse of the home; two sons: Ray Whitehouse, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, John Clyde “Jack” Whitehouse of the home; two daughters; Sandra White of Charleston, SC, and Cynthia Prescot of California, one brother, William Whitehouse of Macon GA; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild also survives. Mamie Dell Adams Stuart, age 85 of Lansing died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the Segraves Care Center in Jefferson. Mrs. Stuart was born April 27, 1917 in Ashe County to Edward Franklin and Maggie Powers Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Delmer Scott “Hank” Stuart, a daughter, Eva Baldwin, a sister, Ruby Stuart, a brother, Donald Adams and a granddaughter, Angela Lynn Stuart. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 21st at the Silas Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Tom Adams and Rev. Tom Stuart will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sexton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 till 9:00 PM, Thursday, March 20th at Badger Funeral Home.
