Ergle Sheets Woodie age 95 of Laurel Springs, NC died Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at the Segraves Care Center. Mrs. Woodie was born on October 1, 1908 in Ashe County, NC to Pois and Maudia Darnell Sheets. She was preceded in death by her husband James Floyd Woodie. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lloyd Day will officiate. Burial will follow in the Transou United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 15th from 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the service at Badger Funeral Home. Mrs. Prestwood was born on August 3, 1924 in Ashe County, NC to Tom and Bessie Miller McNeill. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray E. Prestwood. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 11, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ed Warren will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. Keith Hart, age 80 of Laurel Springs, NC, died Tuesday, April 27th, 2004 at the Ashe Living Center in Jefferson, NC. Mr. Hart was born December 12, 1923 in Ashe County to the late Fred and Lillian Hart. Mr. Hart was a retired truck driver with the NC Dept. of Transportation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 29th at Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Roger Pickett and Rev. Lonnie Pruitt will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Lawn Memorial Park in North Wilkesboro, NC. The family will receive friends from 7:00 till 9:00 PM, Wednesday, April 28th at Badger Funeral Home. Edith Sills Barr, age 96, of West Jefferson, NC, died Monday, April 5, 2004 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Barr was born on April 22, 1907 in Concord, NC to Joseph and Nancy Creech Sills. She was a 1928 graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College. She was married
in 1930 to the late Edward D. Barr. Mrs. Barr was a retired educator having served the Ashe County school system as a French and English instructor. In her retirement years she enjoyed reading. Funeral Services for Mrs. Barr will be conducted Thursday afternoon, April 8, 2004 at 2:00 at West Jefferson United Methodist Church. The Rev. A.B. Weaver and The Rev. Kirk McNeill will officiate. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 at West Jefferson United Methodist Church prior to the services. Mrs. Barr is survived by a daughter: Betsy Hartzog of West Jefferson; granddaughter and spouse: Pam and Robert Andrews of Sparta, NC; grandson: Robert Hartzog of Boone, NC; five great-grandchildren: Emily Andrews and Molly Andrews of Sparta, NC; Bobby Hartzog, Hannah Hartzog, and Holden Hartzog of Boone, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Barr was preceded in death by one brother: Joseph Sills of Hickory; two sisters: Mrs. Doris Broom of Hickory and Mrs. Bernice Hardin of Greensboro.
