Ruth Allene Campbell Barker, age 73 of North Wilkesboro, formerly of Ashe died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the Villages of Wilkes. Mrs. Barker was born May 15, 1930 in Ashe County to the late Charles and Lou Campbell. In addition to her parents, a daughter, Deannah Marie Barker, preceded her in death. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 5th at the Blevins cemetery in Lansing. Mrs. Barker is survived by: Her husband: Banner Earl Barker Daughter: Connie Watt and husband Stephen of Winterville, NC Sister: Helen Richardson of Lansing & Myrtle Pugh of Elkton, MD Grandson: M. Martha Fay Osborne Miller, age 90 of Creston, died Monday, June 9, 2003 at the Ashe Living Center. Mrs. Miller was born April 10, 1913 in Ashe County to the late George and Rhoda Osborne. In addition to her parents her husband, James Miller preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 11th at the Gillespie Presbyterian Church. Rev. Earl Woods, Rev. Cleo Greer and Rev. Jim Francis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Roten Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 till 9:00 PM, Tuesday, June 10th at Badger Funeral Home. Mrs. Miller is survived by: 6 sons: Dempsy, William, Wayne & George Barr all of Creston, Marvin Barr of Warrensville and James Barr of Crumpler 3 daughters: Lorene Calhoun & Mary Ruth Pennington both of Lansing and Lorie Ann Greer of Creston brother: Junior Osborne of Creston 3 sisters: Maggie Roten of Creston, Pearl Flanagan of Hickory and Beryl Berry of VA 16 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
