Mr. Swansie E. Shepherd age 90 of Lansing, NC died Saturday, February 22, 2003 at the Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Shepherd was born on October 16, 1912 in Ashe County, NC to Gardener and Etta Baugess Shepherd. He was preceded in death by four brothers. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rodney Frye and Rev. Larry Shepherd will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 25, 2003 from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Badger Funeral Home. Virginia Brown Sturgill age 87 of Islandton, SC died Sunday, October 6, 2002 at the Roper Hospital. Mrs. Sturgill was born on June 22, 1915 in Crumpler, NC to Walterand Nora Edwards Brown. She retired from the Bata Show Company and was a member of the Missionary Baptist Faith. She had moved to Islandton, SC with her late sister, Alma Moore, with whom she had resided for 51 years. Her husband, Vance Sturgill preceded her in death, two sons Freedie and Lake Sturgill, brother Vince Brown, two sisters Dot Weaver and Cashie Moore. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Fox will officiate. Burial will follow in the Piney Creek Cemetery. Wilma Jones age 70 of St. Petersburg, FL died Thursday, November 7, 2002 in Florida. She was born in McKreesport, PA. She retired from Bank of America as a Customer Service Representative in 1993. Wilma served in the US Airforce as a Airman Second Class in Personnel Training Squadron from 1950-1952. She was son the Board of Directors for Mobel Americana RO Association in St. Petersburg, FL. While living in Pittsburg, PA she worked in Operations Management for Equibank from 1972 to 1982. She was a member of the Riviera United Methodist Church of St. Petersburg. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lloyd Day will officiate. A Military Graveside will follow in the Howell Hill Cemetery.
