Elmer Lyle Carr, age 71 of West Jefferson, died Friday, December 13, 2002 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Carr was born February 3, 1931 in Johnson City, TN to Syrus and Letha Vance Carr. Funeral services were held at 2:30 PM Sunday December 15, 2002 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jack Miller and Rev. Steve Lasbomb officiated. Burial followed in the Midway Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 till 8:00 PM Saturday, December 14 at Badger Funeral Home. Mr. Carr is survived by: Wife: Virginia Carr 2 Sons: Jeffery Carr of Unicoy, TX & Jerry Carr of Jonesboro, TN 1 daughter: Libby Carr of Limestone, TN 2 stepdaughters: Joy Cockerham of Crumpler & Julia Mae of Wadesboro, NC 5 brothers: Joe Carr & Roby Carr of Johnson City, TN, Melvin Carr of Kingsport, TN, Willie Carr of Jonesboro, TN & Floyd Carr of Gray, TN 1 sister: Sarah Toth of Johnson City, TN 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Joe Allen Lyall, age 66 of West Jefferson, NC died Monday, December 9th at his home. Mr. Lyall was born May 12, 1936 in Ashe County to Charles William and Clyde Hardin Lyall. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Sherry Lyall Hart. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, Dec. 11th at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jerry Francis and Rev. Bill Burchett will officiate. Burial will follow in the Beaver Creek Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 till 9:00 PM, Tuesday, December 10th at Badger Funeral Home. Mr. Lyall is survived by: Wife: Betty Wyatt Lyall Son: Randall Allen Lyall of West Jefferson Sister: Lola Calloway of West Jefferson Foster sister: Rose Hash of Grassy Creek 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.. Leonard Mahala, age 93 of the Segraves Care Center died, Monday, October 22, 2002 at the Care Center. Mr. Mahala was born January 6, 1909 in Ashe County to Thomas and Nora Allen Mahala. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ruby Roark Mahala. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 25th at the Three Forks Baptist Church. Rev. Bill Day and Rev. Reeves Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the Roark-Mahala Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 24th at the Three Forks Baptist Church. Mr. Mahala is survived by: One Sister: Virgie Mahala of Creston Two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.. Charles William Wagner age 85 of West Jefferson, NC died Friday, November 8, 2002 at the Segraves Care Center. Mr. Wagner was born on February 29, 1916 in Grayson County, VA to Furches and Sessie Pruitt Wagner. He served his county in the United States Army during World War 11. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kent Eller and Rev. J.C. Norton will officiate.
