Bobbie Jones Ray age 93 of West Jefferson, NC died Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at her home. She was born in Ashe County, NC on January 23, 1909 to the late Nannie Vannoy and Bertie Jones. Mrs. Ray attended Mars Hill and Meredith Colleges, and taught school in West Jefferson, NC. She was a homemaker, served the community, and was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ritz Clyde Ray, Sr. son Jesse Eugene Ray, and three brothers Dr. Clyde T. Jones, John A. Jones, and Frieldon B. Jones, Jr. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 19, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. A.B. Weaver will officiate. The family will receive visitors from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 19, 2003 at Badger Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Ashe County, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640. A private committal service will be held in the Ray Cemetery. Mrs. Ray is survived by: Son: Dr. Ritz Clyde Ray, Jr. of Winston Salem, NC Granddaughters: Elizabeth Ray-Schroeder and husband, Bernd of Chapel Hill, and Laura Roth and husband James of Chicago; Two great grand-daughters, two great-grandsons; one niece and five nephews; One uncle: Tam Vannoy of Roanoke, Virginia.

He and his father owned and operated Edwards Upholstery in West Jefferson. Graveside services for Mr. Edwards will be conducted on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Calloway cemetery on NC HWY 163 by the Rev. Kemit Dancy. Mr. Edwards is survived by two sons: Sandy Edwards of Creston, NC; Tim Edwards of Galax, Virginia; mother; Mr. Ilene Faw Edwards of West Jefferson. Badger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
