Mr. Stanley Young age 81 of Grassy Creek, NC died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at his home. Mr. Young was born on April 20, 1921 in Grassy Creek, NC to Irvin R. and Alice Waddell Young. He served in the US Army in WWII and was an active member of the Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Grassy Creek. He was a member of the Mouth of Wilson Masonic Lodge 223 A.F.A.M. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 14, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at the Pleasant Home Baptist Church. Rev. Rick Miller and Rev. Jack Pugh will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Home Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 13, 2003 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Badger Funeral Home. Max Alexander Head, age 66 of West Jefferson, the Idlewild Community died Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at his home. Mr. Head was born April 26, 1936 in Rutherford County to George and Ruth Bailty Head. His father preceded him in death. Jaycees in NC and FL., serving as vice-president for the Mecklenburg Jaycees and awarded the JCI Senatorship in FL. He enjoyed fishing and attending gospel concerts. Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM, Saturday, January 25th at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lewis Poag will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery. Mr. Head will lie in state from 1:30 till 2:30 prior to the service. Mr. Kaelin was born March 31, 1953 in Queens, New York to the late Richard and Ellice Kaelin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 18th at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Verner Meridy Lewis age 89 of Warrensville, NC died Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Lewis was born on July 14, 1913 in Ashe County, NC to Tilson and Rosa Hartsog Lewis of Mtn City, TN. He was born in the Clifton community along with eleven brothers and sisters. He was an avid outdoorsman, a Mason and a Shriner. After retiring from the coal mines in West Virginia he opened and operated a Cab Service in Welch, WV and and Jacksonville, NC. After retiring again at the age of 69 he moved back to the area he loved, the mountains of Ashe County, NC. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 13, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rodney Frye will officiate. Interment will follow in the Hartsog Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hartsog cemetery Care Fund, c/o Steve Hartsoe, PO Box 462, Jefferson, NC 28640. Mr. Lewis is survived by: Sisters: Belle Myers and Goldie Jones both of Pulaski, VA Gladys Lewis of Dublin, VA A number of devoted cousins, and a host of nieces and nephews, and many very good friends.
