Coral Springs, Florida - Etta Rebecca Plemmons Conoscente, 77, of 9680 Royal Palm Blvd died
Thursday, November 15, 2001 at her home.
A native of Buncombe County. She had resided in N.Y. for many years prior to moving to Florida in the late 1980’s. She was a Caterer and attended First Presbyterian Church in Coral Springs.
Mrs. Conoscente was a daughter of the late Henry Hilliard and Elvira Elizabeth Brown Plemmons and the wife of the late Paul Conoscente.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol Gierum of the home; Grand daughter, Tiffany Gierum and grandson, Ryan Gierum; sisters, Naomi Cagle and Ruth Smith both of Nashville, Tennessee and brother, C.F. (Bud) Plemmons of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. James L. Stewart officiating.
Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Warren Calvin McKinney

Candler - Warren Calvin McKinney, 80, of 270 Ridgeway Rd. died
Thursday November 15, 2001 at Memorial Mission Hospital.
A native of Jack’s Creek Community of Yancey Co. He resided in Baltimore, Md for several years having resided in Buncombe County for most of his life. He was a self-employed masonry contractor. He was a member of Asheville North Seventh-Day Adventist Church and former member of Mt. Pisgah Academy Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He was a son of the late David R. and Ella Burnett McKinney and was also preceded in death by a son Danny McKinney.
Surviving are his wife, Kay McKinney of the home; sons, Gary Dean McKinney and wife Denise of Candler and Warren Joseph McKinney of Baltimore, Md.; stepson, Chris Burleson and wife Layne of Columbus; stepdaughter, Rhonda Burleson of Candler; sister, Lula Glenn of Asheville; brother, Al McKinney of Elizabethton, Tn.; 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Pisgah Academy Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastors John Earnhardt, Don Dronen, Buz Menhardt and Willie Oosthuizen officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the church.

Andy Davis

Leicester - Andy Davis, 84, of 800 Newfound Rd. died
Sunday, November 18, 2001 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
A native of Madison County, he had lived in Buncombe County since 1946. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during WW II, was retired from Drexel Furniture, and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Davis was the son of the late Baxter and Magnolia Price Davis.
Surviving are his wife, Eugenia Anderson Davis of the home, daughters, Dorothy Marie Sawyer of Candler, Anna Jeanette Bradburn and husband Michael of Leicester, and Carolyn Frances Reid and husband Brian of Weaverville; grandsons, James and Michael Sawyer, David and Aaron Reid; sisters, Carrie Keener of Clovis, CA, and Nellie Plemmons of Waynesville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Scroggs and Jackie Collins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Silas Pender Blankenship
February 16, 1946 - November 21, 2001
Asheville - Silas Pender Blankenship, 55, of 373 Haywood Road, died
Wednesday November 21, 2001 at his home after a period of declining health.
A native and life long resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Frank Patterson and Eloise Luna Quinn Blankenship.
Surviving are his sons, Paul Patterson Blankenship of Candler and Mark Pender Blankenship of Asheville; daughter, Stacy Diana Gassaway of Candler; sisters, Marie Lloyd of Durham, Bertha Carter of Greer, S.C. and Kay Ewart of Asheville ; brothers, Howard Blankenship and David Blankenship both of Asheville and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Harris officiating.
The family will receive friends following services at the funeral home.
Linnell Farmer Edwards
May 9, 1920 - November 9, 2001
Black Mountain - Linnell Farmer Edwards, 81, of 1076 Old Hwy. 70 died
Friday, November 9, 2001 at Asheville Health Care Center.
A native of Ault County, Colorado, she had lived in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a member of Black Mtn. First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Edwards was a daughter of the late George Leonard and Mary Holcombe Farmer and was the wife of the late Charles William Edwards, Sr.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Edwards Palmer of Hendersonville, Mary Edwards Shaner of Hull, MA, and Linda Stine of Swannanoa; son, Charles William Edwards, Jr. of Douglasville, GA; sister, Elaine Wright of Hampton, VA; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM Monday at Black Mountain First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clark Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Big Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery, Spruce Pine.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church
Anne Lee Parham
January 8, 1910 - November 10, 2001
Asheville - Anne Lee Parham, 91, of 1089 Old Leicester Highway died
Saturday, November 10, 2001 at her residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a member of Newfound Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Merrett Columbus and Allie S. Sluder and the wife of the late David Hollis Parham.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Dell Slocumb and brothers, Taylor, Frank, George and Paul Sluder.
Surviving are her nephews, Steve Slocumb and wife, Cyndi and William Sluder and wife, Myrtle all of Leicester.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery
with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating.
Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
