Cleo Ann Hatch Morgan

Asheville - Cleo Ann Hatch Morgan, 76, formerly of 98 Trotter Place died
Monday, February 2, 2004 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was retired from the Patton Ave. K-Mart and was a member of Crossroads Assembly of God.
Mrs. Morgan was the daughter of the late C.C. and Josephine Roberts Hatch and was the wife of the late William “Bill” Cathey Morgan who died
in 2000. She was also preceded in death by a son, Roger Leslie Morgan.
Surviving are her son, Stacy Morgan and wife Phyllis of Asheville; grandchildren, Matt Morgan and wife Mary of Hinesville, GA, Lea Morgan and Brent Morgan, both of Asheville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wade Zachary officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery.
Myrtle Sexton Austin

Greenville, SC. - Myrtle Sexton Austin, 83, formerly of Woodfin, NC. died
Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at Oakmont East Nursing Home in Greenville, SC.
Mrs. Austin was born
in Transylvania County, NC. She spent most of her life in the Asheville area where she supported her late husband, Norman M. Austin, as the first mayor of Woodfin. She worked for Burlington Mills and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Enka Union. She was an Eastern Star and active member of Elk Mountain Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. After moving to Greenville, she was an active participant in the activities of Oakmont.
Daughter of the late Rev. John H. and Vonnie Phillips Sexton, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Norman M. Austin; daughter, Mildred Fisher; brothers, Jack Sexton and Raymond King and a sister, Margaret Sexton Wright..
Surviving are her daughter, Jane Austin Winfield and husband Charles; Granddaughters, Kristin McCombe Baker and Amy Lyn Reeves and husband Rev. Brant Ian Reeves, and great grandchildren, McRae Elizabeth Baker, Courtney Phillips Baker, Andrew Nelson Reeves and Abigail Bailey Reeves all of Travelers Rest, SC.; grandsons Donald Fisher and Allen Fisher and great grandchildren, Alexander and Lauren Fisher all of Hendersonville, NC.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Elk Mountain Cemetery
in Woodfin, NC. with the Rev. Brant Reeves officiating.
The family will receive friends at Anders-Rice Funeral Home in Asheville, NC. at 10:00 A.M. Friday and at other times at the home of her daughter, Jane Austin Winfield.
Douglas Ray Jones
May 23, 1944 - January 26, 2004
Leicester - Douglas Ray Jones, 59, of 124 Smith Rd. died
Monday, January 26, 2004 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center following a long illness.
A native of Cherokee County, NC. He had resided in Buncombe County since 1979.
Mr. Jones was formerly employed with Paving Enterprise and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
He was a son of the late Jack and Ruth Barker Jones and was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard Jones formerly of Nantahala.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Gregory Jones of the home; son, Kevin Ray Jones and wife, Liz of Wilson, Wyoming; daughter, Stacey Robin Allen and husband, Pete of Barnardsville; grand daughters, Cassidy and Lauren Allen; brothers, Carroll Jones, Dick Jones and Donald Jones all of Andrews and Gary Jones of Hayesville.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Scroggs and Rev. Jackie Collins officiating.
Pallbearers will be his four brothers, son in law and special friend, Gordon Terry. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Baker Squad of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department.
The family will receive friends following the services Thursday at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held 12 noon Friday at Valleytown Cemetery
in Andrews.

Robert Dale "Robb" Ramsey

Canton - Robert Dale “Robb” Ramsey, 65, died
Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Charlotte, NC. Having grown up in the Asheville area, he joined the military and had resided in many locations, retiring in Northern California and returning to Western North Carolina in 2000.
He retired in 1981 from the U.S. Army following 20 years of service as a Nurse Supervisor and was a Vietnam Veteran.
He was the son of the late William Lucias and Beulah Edna White Ramsey.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Sue McDermott Ramsey of the home.
Graveside services will be held 11 am Monday at Mountain View Memorial Park, Black Mountain, with Rev. Kelley Jones officiating.
The family will receive friends 4 pm Sunday, February 8, 2004, at the Plains United Methodist Church, Canton.

Asheville - “Tommye” Ella Zane Surrette Lloyd, 77, of 30 Clairmont Ave., apartment G-1, Asheville, died
Tuesday, February 3, 2004.
Tommye was born
in Transylvania County, raised in Bryson City and spent most of her life in Asheville. She attended Western Carolina University. In addition to raising a family, she worked for the City of Asheville and Mountainside Apartments. She was also an honorary member of Beaucatcher Quilters.
She was a daughter of the late Thomas L. and Anne B. Norton Surrette. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas N. Surrette; sister, Evelyn D. Anderson; daughter, Molly N. Lloyd and sons, James W. Lloyd, Jr. and David Z. Lloyd.
She is survived by her son, Todd N. Lloyd of San Francisco, CA.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating.
The family will receive friends following services at the funeral home.
