Neal Robert White

Fletcher - Neal Robert White, 78, of 1 Ponderosa Drive died
Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
A native and resident for most of his life of Buncombe County. He had resided in Henderson County since 1976. He was Co-Owner & President of Motor Freight Specialist, Inc.
Mr. White was a U.S. Army veteran during W.W. I I serving in the Europeon Theater and a receipient of 3 Bronze Service Stars. He was a member and Past President of the W.N.C. Pilots Association.
He was a son of the late R.B. White and Hattie Lucile Reynolds White and was also preceded in death by his son, Daniel Edwin White who died
in 1956 and his brother in law, Albert S. Griffin formerly of Lenoir.
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Louise G. White of the home; sons, Wade White of Charleston, S.C. and Randy White and wife, Cyndi of Mt. Washington, Kentucky; daughter, Cynthia “Cindi” White Canupp and husband, Bobby of Concord; sister, Kathleen Hoffman of Asheville; brother, L.A. White of Fletcher and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel Anders Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Woodby officiating.
The family will receive friends immediatly following services at the funeral home.

Lula Beatrice Rice
February 3, 1927 - February 4, 2003
Asheville - Lula Beatrice Rice, 76, of 56 Oteen Church Rd. died
Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at Mission St. Joseph’s Health System.
A native of Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Alice Effler Rice. She was also preceded in death by a son, William Edward Rice, II.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, William Edward Rice of the home; daughters, Pat Garrison and husband Stanley of Asheville and Wanda Fite and husband George of Fairview; son, Rick Rice and wife Brenda of Asheville; grandchildren, Mikki, Elissa, William Edward III, Kristen, Kerry, and Lacy; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Alice Rice and Carolyn Springer both of Greer, SC; brother, Jim Rice of Palm Bay, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.F. Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
Lloyd A. Watson
May 25, 1920 - February 5, 2004
Asheville - Lloyd A. Watson, 83, son of the late William and Esther May Watson, went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2004.
Mr. Watson served in the US Army/Airforce in the Pacific in World War II and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a graduate of Blanton’s Business College and he worked for 35 years at Sealtest/Milk-Co where he served as comptroller. He subsequently worked for several years for Van Wingerden International. Mr. Watson owned and operated Lloyd A. Watson Realty and he had previously served on the board of the Institute of Management Accountants.
He had served as a Deacon at both Merrimon Ave. Baptist and Beverly Hills Baptist Churches and he has taught Sunday School for 25 years. He was a member of the Spa Health Club and was an avid gardener who loved working outside.
Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Hall Watson and son, Lloyd R. Watson. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Elizabeth Crouse Watson and his children, Hazel Watson of Winston-Salem, Carol Walsh of Asheville, Dawn Crouse of Columbus, MS, and Daryl Crouse of Candler; his grandchildren, Lloyd R. II, Scott, Erin, Wesley and Frank, Jr.; his great grandchildren, Christopher, Kylie, Garrett, Frank III and Brittany; his sister, Maude Bowman of Oxen Hill, MD.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jim Russell and Tom Lomax officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
It is requested that no flowers be given due to medical problems of a family member. Andrew McDevitt
June 13, 1937 - February 6, 2004
Leicester - Andrew McDevitt, 66, of 1416 Bear Creek Road died
Friday, February 6, 2004 following a long illness.
A native of Madison County. He had resided in Buncombe County most of his life, was an Assistant Supervisor in the Sanding Department at Drexel Heritage for 37 years and attended Meadow Fork Baptist Church in Spring Creek.
He was a son of the late Fred Buckner and Pearl McDevitt Gosnell and adopted son of the late Shufford and Cindy McDevitt.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Malinda Jo Bullman McDevitt of the home; sons, Keith McDevitt and wife, Beth of Florence, SC, Ken McDevitt and wife, JoAnn of Leicester, Andy McDevitt and wife, Janet of Leicester; daughter, Kim Brown and husband, Phil of Alexander; brothers, R.B. McDevitt, Floyd McDevitt, Ed McDevitt, Ted Buckner, Paul Buckner and Clayton Gosnell; sisters, Vanda Chandler, Mary Lee Foster, Betty Dean Gosnell, Verna Mae Cutshall, Diane Buckner, Alice Buckner and Ruby Buckner; grandchildren, Beth Proffitt, Connie McDevitt, Megan Brown, Ashley McDevitt, Christina McDevitt, Whitney Brown, Matthew Brown, Lindsey McDevitt, Katie McDevitt and Joshua McDevitt. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Pap”.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Mr. Keith McDevitt, Rev. Andy McDevitt, Rev. Gary Coates and Rev. Gary Fender officiating. Burial will be in Redmond Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family will receive friends 7 to 9 pm Sunday at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the residence.

Edna Watts Edmonds
August 23, 1922 - January 29, 2004
Asheville - Edna Cornelia Watts Edmonds, 81, of 1493 Brevard Road died
Thursday January 29, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital after a period of declining health.
A native and resident of Buncombe County for most of her life, she had provided loving day care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a member of Bent Creek Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Rouley and Nellie Watts and wife of the late Edward Leon Edmonds.
Surviving are her son Wayne Edmonds and wife Linda of Arden; daughter, Libby Stuart and husband Jerry of Asheville; sister, Bernice Sluder of Statesville; grandchildren, Deborah Bohanon and husband Greg, Eddie Edmonds and Stephanie Stuart and great grandchildren, “Little” Greg and Shelby.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
