Weaverville - Mildred Genell Buckner, 87, of 605 Old Mars Hill Hwy. died
Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center.
A life long resident of Buncombe Co., she was a member of French Broad Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Buckner was the daughter of the late Gaston and Hattie Carter Warlick and was the wife of the late Alvoid Buckner who died
in 1981. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Rufus Warlick.
Surviving are daughter, Janie B. Crane and husband Kenneth of Weaverville; grandchildren, Kenny Crane and wife Melissa and Candy Grindstaff and husband Jody; great grandchildren, Justin Crane and Hannah Genell Grindstaff.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ralph Roberts and Dale Banks officiating. Burial will be in French Broad Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Mildred Follett Frazier
June 12, 1915 - October 8, 2003
Asheville - Mildred Louise Follett Frazier, 88, of 62 Allen Street, died
Wednesday October 8, 2003 at Aston Park Health Care Center.
A life long resident of Buncombe County. She retired from Broadway Hosiery Mill and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was a daughter of the late George and Edith Hensley Follett and wife of the late Walter Frazier. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Jean Yaraborough Bubser and a brother, Harry Follett.
Surviving are her granddaughters, Linda Clark of Asheville, Melanie Lunsford of Candler and Sheila Chapman of FL; great grandchildren, Robert and Tonya Clark, Michelle Smith, Elizabeth and Jeremy Christopher and Casey Herren; great great grandchildren, Victoria Harrin, Brandon Smith, Evan Craig, Alex and Hannah Christopher; sisters, Winfred Crowder and Juanita Sprinkle both of Asheville; brothers, William and George Follett both of Asheville.
Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Saturday at Faith Tabernacle Fellowship on the corner of Michigan and Pennsylvania in West Asheville with the Rev. Frank Zerbel officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
Lionel Cheney
December 6, 1921 - October 7, 2003
Asheville - Lionel Cheney, 81, of 305 Piney Mountain Drive died
Tuesday October 7, 2003 at the Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Bridgeport, Conn. he had lived in Asheville for the past 15 years. He was a son of the late Maurice Lionel and Ethel Grisenwaite Cheney and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Thomes Cheney of the home; daughters, Carrie Burton of Charleston, N.H. and Cathy Finklea of Mt. Angel Or.; sons, Matthew Cheney of Colorado Springs, Col. and Mark Cheney of Stratford, Conn.; sisters, Martha Lincoln of N.H. and Pamela Potter of Vt., brother, Maurice A. Cheney of Pa. and grandchildren, Carrie and Jonathan Finklea.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Friday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery
in Black Mountain with the Rev. Steve Hines officiating.
Harry Donald "Don" Trantham
May 9, 1931 - October 5, 2003
Asheville - Harry Donald “Don” Trantham, 72, of 2805 Sagamore Lane died
Sunday October 5, 2003 at the Mountain Area Hospice following a year long battle with pancreatic cancer.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was the former owner & operator of the Merrimon Avenue Shell Station before retiring in 1972 due to health.
He was a son of the late Lonnie Grady Trantham and Fannie Miller Trantham Pinner. He was also preceded in death by a son, Lonnie G. Trantham; brother, Lonnie Trantham and sister, Kathleen Trantham Sexton.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Hughes Trantham of the home; daughter, Vickie Trantham Carter and husband, Dwight of Candler; sons, Donnie Trantham and wife, Brenda of Candler, Gary Trantham of Asheville and Ross Trantham and wife, Patsy of Candler; daughter in law, Deborah R. Trantham of Leicester; brother, Harold Trantham of Asheville; mother in law, Jeanette Hughes of Asheville; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton officiating. Burial will be held at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was a kind, caring and loving husband, father, father in law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and son in law.

David L. Ingle
April 1, 1934 - October 3, 2003
Asheville - David Lewis Ingle, 69, of 247 Richmond Hill Drive, died
Friday October 3, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired in 1992 from Revco Scientific and was formerly employed with Southern Railroad. He was an U.S. Marine Corp Veteran serving in the Korean War, a member of VFW Post #3040 and attended Calvary Worship Center.
He was a son of Dradon Gilbert Ingle, Sr. of Asheville and Lillian Maude Banks Jones of Asheville.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Trula Harwood Ingle of the home; sons, Danny Lewis Ingle of the home and Vincent Edward Ingle of Asheville; daughter, Vivian Louise Brown and husband, Billy of Asheville; sister, Marie McKinney of Candler; step mother, Virginia Ingle of Asheville; half sister, Brenda Hudson of Asheville; half brothers, Kenneth Allen Ingle of California and Malcolm Ingle of Asheville; three grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Ronald Dodson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
