Asheville - Mary Alvonna Mallard, 35, of Hogan View Drive, Lot #62 went to be with her Lord Thursday, June 26, 2003.
A native of Georgetown, S.C. She had resided in Buncombe County since October 1978.
Surviving are her mother, Artelia McKenzie McIlwain and step father, Thomas Edward McIlwain both of Candler; father, Cederic McQuade Mallard and step mother, Betty Ann Mallard both of Vidalia, Georgia; fiancé, Tony Savaria of the home; brother, Cederic James Mallard and wife, Heather of Candler; nephews, Cody Lee Mallard and Thomas James Mallard both of Candler.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Sunday at Green Hills Cemetery
with the Rev. Hubert Stapleton officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
James M. "Jim" Frisbee
December 10, 1910 - January 7, 2003
Asheville - James M. "Jim" Frisbee, 92 of 816 Emma Road, died
Tuesday January 7, 2003 at Pisgah Manor Health Care following a brief illness.
A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County most of his life and was a member of Cross Rock Baptist Church.
Mr. Frisbee retired in 1972 after 20 years of service from the N.C. State Department of Transportation where he was in the Landscaping Division. He was the son of the late Alfred (Babe) and Rachel Praytor Frisbee and husband of Pauline Luna Warlick (Roberts) Frisbee who died
March 23, 1985.
Surviving are his daughters, Dorothy Tweed and Betty Lunsford both of Asheville and Mary Sue Aldredge of Glen Alpine; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Gillispie and Edwin Ellege officiating. Burial will be in Teagues Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of Betty Lunsford, 296 Aurora Vista Drive, Asheville.
Annis Gardner Demos
January 11, 1914 - January 6, 2003
Asheville - Annis Gardner Demos, 88, of The Oaks at Sweeten Creek, died
Monday January 6, 2003.
A native of Yancey County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Asheville and a former member of the Asheville Country Club.
She was a daughter of the late James Jackson and Laura Marie McMahan Gardner and wife of Simon Demetri Demos who died
in June 1992. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Gardner.
Surviving are her sons, George Simon Demos and wife, Linda and Michael Simon Demos and wife, Jill all of Asheville; grandsons, Demetri George Demos, Dustin Coman Demos and Nicholas Patton Demos; granddaughters, Annis Christine Demos and Allison Marie Demos; great grandchildren, Justin Demetri Demos, Amber Marie Demos and Tyler Joe Demos; sister, Breida Gardner Thomas of Asheville.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynda Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 30 minuites prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jonathan Kade Jones

Waynesville - Jonathan Kade Jones, 28, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Thursday, January 2, 2003.
A native of Haywood County, Kade had worked as a networking Engineer in Charlotte and Asheville for the past 7 years.
Surviving are his parents, Jimmy and Judy Jones and his brother, Jason Jones.
A private service was held Sunday January 5, 2003 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home in Asheville. Burial was in Garrett-Hillcrest Cemetery
in Waynesville.

Parsons, Kansas - Joyce E. Carpenter, 79, formerly of Asheville, died
Sunday, Decemeber 29, 2002 at the Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons.
She was born
July 6, 1923 in Hickory to the late Arthur A. and Alda Wise Saine and was a 1940 graduate of Hickory High School.
On April 21, 1946 she married
Charles H. Carpenter in Hickory. The family lived in various places before moving to Asheville where they resided for 25 years before moving to Parsons in May of 1998.
Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the Salvation Army in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Surviving are her husband, Charles H. Carpenter of the home; sons, Charles H. Carpenter, Jr. of Raleigh, Craig A. Carpenter of Morristown, TN, Calvin P. Carpenter of Asheville and Clinton A. Carpenter of Mt. Gilead; daughters, Cheryl Dawson of Parsons, Charlene A. Bickers of Charlottesville, VA and Carol S. White of Seligman, AZ; six grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Saine of Hickory; sister, Gwyn Cumberland of Alexandria, VA.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Salvation Army Citadel, 750 Haywood Road with Col. Ernest Miller officiating. Burial will be in Shepherd Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
