Thomas Calvin Robinson

Asheville - Thomas Calvin Robinson, 85, of 256 Brevard Road died
Monday December 20, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Jackson County, he had resided in Asheville for most of his life. He attended Emma School and was of the Baptist Faith. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1938 and also served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1941. He proudly served and was awarded the American Defense Medal. He was a life member and former past Commander of VFW Post #891 and a life member of the DAV. He received the North Carolina Master Plumber License #765 in 1942 and worked for a number of plumbing companies for many years before opening his own company (Tom’s Plumbing and Heating Company). He also served as the county plumbing inspector from 1960 to 1962 and later served as housing safety officer for the City of Asheville.
He was the youngest child of the late Samuel Jefferson and Mary Lawing Robinson and was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Leona Gibson, Roena Kent and Rosa Ingle and 5 brothers, Gordon, Ralph, Sam, Gilbert and Marion Robinson.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Agnes Moore Robinson of the home; daughters, Ann Reynolds and husband Don and Carol Robinson all of Asheville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday in the Chapel of the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery
in Black Mountain with Dr. Jack Innes and Rev. Walter Peck officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Kenneth Charles Worley

Candler – Kenneth Charles Worley, 62, of 164 Bennett Road, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006 at his residence following a period of declining health.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from Square D following 37 years of service. He was a member of Glory Tabernacle Church.
Mr. Worley was the son of the late Thurman Hugh and Ruby Hoglen Worley.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Ward Worley, of the home; two sons: Greg Worley and Rick Worley, both of Leicester; two step-sons: Kenneth Ramsey of Union Mills, NC and Shane Ramsey of Candler; three brothers: James Worley of Oakley, and Jack Worley and Wayne Worley, both Leicester; two grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday at Glory Tabernacle, with the Rev. Ronnie Pitman officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM at the church.

Anna Moffat

Candler - Anna Belle Knight Moffat, 91, formerly of 38 Range View Acres went to be with her Lord Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
A native of Madison County. Mrs. Moffat had resided in Buncombe County since 1977 and formerly attended Ridgeway Baptist Church.
She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Laura Coates Knight, the wife of the late Charles Leonard Moffat and also preceded in death by her sister, Ida Howell.
Surviving are her niece, Ann Kilpatrick and husband, John of Candler and two great nieces.
Memorial Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Jackie Collins officiating. The family will receive friends following services at the funeral home.

Jimmy Charles Harris

Candler - Jimmy Charles Harris, 70, of 40 Windy Canyon Rd. passed away Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Mission Hospital.
A native and resident most of his life of Buncombe County. He was the son of the late Johnnie Wesley and Melva McFee Harris and was also preceded in death by his son Jamie Harris.
He retired in 1989 from Mrs. Allison’s Cookies, was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge in Marion.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Ann Harris of the home, daughter Sheila Patton of Candler, sons, Mike Harris and wife Janice and Ricky Joe Harris all of Candler; sister, Frankie Lovin and husband Howard of Candler; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pole Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating.
Burial will follow in Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
His grandsons, Jeremy, Justin, Jerad, & Luke Harris and Jason & Sean Patton will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.

James A. "Jim" Ward

Asheville – James Albert Ward, 81, formerly of 58 Hubbard Avenue, went to be with his Lord Friday, April 21, 2006 at the Brian Center of Weaverville.
A native of Buncombe County and a member of Happy Valley Baptist Church. He retired in December of 1981 following 30 years of service from the U.S. Government. At the time of his retirement he worked at the Weather Bureau where he served as a Data Card Technician and was a W.W. II U.S. Army Veteran.
Mr. Ward was the son of the late William Fletcher and Ethel Sprouse Ward. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Anna Davis.
Surviving are his sisters; Stella Burke and husband, James and Edith Benfield and husband, Bill all of Asheville and Dorothy Reece of Candler and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Bennie Wade and Mr. Bob Craft officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
