Asheville - Lucille G. Fore, 91, died
Thursday January 2, 2003 at The Oaks at Sweeten Creek.
A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was a member of Oakley Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Jessie Pressley Garren and wife of the late Paul J. Fore, Sr. who died
in 1996.
She was the loving mother of daughters, Billie Solesbee and husband, Dewey of Asheville, Betty Stroupe of Asheville; sons, Ray Fore and wife, Millie of Fletcher and Paul Fore, Jr. and wife, Wanda of Arden; loving grandmother of grandsons, Mike and Tim Solesbee, Ronnie and Travis Fore, Joey and Greg Osborne and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 at the funeral home.

William Allan "Bill" Cartwright
December 4, 1928 - January 3, 2003
Leicester - William Allan “Bill” Cartwright, 74, of Frisbee Rd. went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2003 while sitting in his chair in the living room of his home.
Born in Haywood Co., he was the son of Reba Starnes of Asheville and the late James K. Cartwright. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Cartwright.
He resided in Buncombe Co. for most of his life where he owned and operated Bill’s Shoe Shop. He retired from NCR in Dec. of 1990. Since retirement, he enjoyed hanging out at Franklin’s Shoe Shop telling fishing stories of the big one that got away.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his devoted wife of 51 years, Janet Bowman Cartwright of the home; daughters, Fonda Cassada and husband David of Leicester and Sharolyn Curenton and husband Richard of Asheville; sons, David Cartwright and wife Teresa and Eric Cartwright and wife Debra all of Leicester; grandchildren, Lora, Brian, Tonya, Joseph, and Kelsi; 4 great grandchildren; brothers Johnny Starnes of Asheville and Dan Starnes of Lake Worth, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Charles Surrett and Charles Duvall officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

John Robert Carroll Sr.
May 23, 1936 - December 26, 2002
Burnsville - John Robert Carroll, Sr., 66, of 320 Newfield Lane, died
Thursday December 26, 2002 at Elizabeth House after a long illness.
He was a native of Charleston, SC. He had resided in Hendersonville and Burnsville for the past 11 years. Mr. Carroll retired in 1988 from Tri-County Utilities in Charleston, SC, where he had served as superintendent for the Water and Sewer for the city and was a member of Crossroads Assembly of God. He was a son of the late Jesse Ernest Carroll, Sr. and Susan Winn Carroll.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years Wilma Jones Carroll of the home; sons, John Robert Carroll, II of Newland, NC, James Willard Carroll of Charleston, SC and Benjamin David Carroll of Burnsville; daughters, Katherine Diane Carroll of Charleston, SC and Jennifer Leslie Bradley of Hendersonville; sisters, Mildred Miller of Bonneau, SC, Louise Pellum of Greenpond, SC and Genevieve Jones of North Charleston, SC; brother, Jesse Ernest Carroll, Jr. of Greenwood, SC and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Chuprevich officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Jewell Stowe "Judy" Marshall
May 9, 1919 - January 1, 2003
Arden - Jewell “Judy” Maye Stowe Marshall, 83, of 10 South Forest Lane, went to be with the Lord Wednesday January 1, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital.
She was a native of Buncombe County where she had resided most of her life. Mrs. Marshall retired in 1999 following 26 years of service with the Better Business Association of Asheville/WNC.
She was a member of Bent Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Forever Young Sunday School Class and a member of the Hy - Hopes American Business Womens Chapter, After Five Christian Women’s Council, Golden Girls WNAA, W.N.C. Pilots Association and W.N.C. Air Museum.
She had been a long time Aviation enthusiast. Her late husband was one of five pilots, all brothers, in one of the WNC pioneer aviation families. She had a large number of friends in aviation and enjoyed working in air shows and many other flying activities.
She was a daughter of the late William Washington and Bertha Catherine Montgomery Stowe formerly of Leicester and wife of George Bascomb Marshall who died
in 1970. She was also preceded in death by a son, Clyde David Marshall who died
in 1966; sisters, Alice Ingle of Leicester and Elizabeth Taylor of Asheville; brothers, Jack Stowe of Leicester and George Stowe of Alexander.
Surviving are her daughters, Eleanor M. McMinn and husband, Jim of Athens, GA and Linda L. Marshall of Greenville, SC; son, Michael B. Marshall and wife, Teresa of Fletcher; sister, Hope Phillippe and husband, Keith of Pikeville; brothers, Bill Stowe of Leicester and Bud Stowe of Asheville; grandson, Rev. Dr. Greg McMinn and wife, Leigh of Loganville, GA; grand daughters, Lisa M. Lewis and husband, Geoff of Athens, GA., Shellie Atchison and husband, Kevin of Greenville, SC and Kelly Clements of Fletcher; great grand daughter, Ella Lewis of Athens, GA.
Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Bent Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Tommy Bridges, Emile Wolfaardt and Dr. Greg McMinn officiating. Burial will be at Shepherd Memorial Park at a later date.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Cecil Guinn Sullivan
June 13, 1908 - December 5, 2002
Asheville - Cecil Guinn Sullivan, 94, of 125 Fox Chase Road West died
Thursday, December 5, 2002 at the Oaks at Sweeten Creek.
A native of Laurens, SC, he was a retired librarian with New York University. He attended Hendersonville First Baptist Church.
Mr. Sullivan was the son of the late Joseph Giroud and Lidie M. Miller Sullivan and was the husband of the late Frances Cecilia Barth Sullivan.
Surviving are his daughter, Jeanette Frances Sullivan of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Danielle Earley of Asheville, Abraham Greenberg of Hendersonville, and Michael Pinard of Duluth, GA; great grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Pinard, Samuel Eric Pinard, Natasha Catherine Earley, and Gabriel Logan Earley.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Skip Fendley officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Monday at Mt. Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery, Laurens, SC.
