BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. Roy Charles White, 52, of 711 Rock House Road, formerly of Warwick, Ga., died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cherokee County, S.C., he was the son of the late Ruth Bell White. He was a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Warwick, Ga., and attended Eastside Baptist Church in Blacksburg. He worked in the construction industry.
He is survived by his father, Henry Charles White of the home; three daughters, Rhonda White of Gaffney, S.C., Pam Neighbors and Carla New, both of Warwick; a brother, Richard White of Blacksburg; four sisters, Barbara Bush and Gail Moss of Kings Mountain, Susan Greene of Grover, and Charlene Dover of Blacksburg; and three grandchildren, Mitchell Seagle, Justin Butterworth, and Jonathan New.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grover Cemetery with the Rev. M.P. Hampton officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain and at other times at the home of his father, 711 Rock House Road, Blacksburg.

Geneva Cloninger
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Geneva Mae Randolph Mayes Cloninger, 76, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born March 9, 1924, in Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse B. and Eunice Berry Randolph. She was a charter member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Robert Mayes and Tollie Cloninger; a brother, Barney Randolph; and two sisters, Loreana Randolph and Margaret Randolph Carpenter.
She is survived by a son, Jesse Wade Mayes; a daughter, Linda Mayes Marlow; a brother, J.B. Randolph; a sister, Lona "Bill" Detter; grandchildren, Tracy Marlow, Roxanne Marlow, John Mayes, Susan Mayes and Leslie Mayes, all of Kings Mountain; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mitchell Pruitt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Wayne Mayes, Jeff Randolph, Jeremy Randolph, Jimmy Randolph, Johnny Randolph and Byron Randolph will serve as pallbearers.

LAWNDALE - Mrs. Della Powell Elmore, 96, of 613 Warlick Road, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at her home.
Born Jan. 15, 1904, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late William Jackson and Lola Champion Powell. A retired teacher, she taught in Shelby City Schools and Cleveland County Schools. She was a member of Kistler's United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira H. Elmore; five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Beryl Elmore and Jack and Carolyn Elmore of Lawndale, and Bill and Bobbie Elmore of Charlotte; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Robert Edwards of Greenville, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Larry Elmore, Tim Elmore, Doug Elmore, Brent Elmore, Don Edwards, David Elmore, Jeannie Howard, Lynn Harrison and Robin Hensley; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Stamey Funeral Home, with the Revs. Joe McMurry and Richard Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Albin Kress
SHELBY - Mr. Albin Thomas Kress, 91, of 950 Hardin Drive, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Rehabilitation and Health Center of Gastonia.
Born July 24, 1908, in Detroit, he was the son of the late Anthony Kurczewski and Mary Wachowiak. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired as a supervisor with Benedix Research in Detroit. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Marie Bodalski of Shelby; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Bill Turpish of Shelby; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Kim Kress of Ortonville, Mich.; a sister, Sister Mary Jerome, CSSF, of Livonia, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Jana Turpish and Jenny Turpish of Shelby, Joseph Kress, Brian Kress, Matthew Kress, Mikayla Kress, Mackenzie Kress and Gavin Kress, all of Ortonville.
A Rosary service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be said Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Eric Houseknecht officiating. Entombment will be at Cleveland Memorial Park.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Ashburn Ledford; a daughter, Shirley Ann Ledford Myers; three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ina Faye and G.W. Bivins of Shelby; a son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Coleen Ledford of Boiling Springs; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Born Oct. 30, 1936, in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late George Sr. and Hattie Glenn Nance. He attended Camp School and was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgia Marie Nance; a son, Henry Herman Nance; a brother, George Nance Jr.; and three sisters, Lucille Adams, Ethel Woods and Docia Nance.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Lee Nance; three sons, Clarence Nance Jr., Donald Lee Nance and Timothy E. Nance, all of Shelby; four daughters, Marcell Whitner, Marie Littlejohn and Lena Whitner, all of Shelby and Rose Odems of Gastonia; a son-in-law, Cornelius Littlejohn; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Nance; a brother, James Nance; six sisters, Betty Card, Thelma Kelly, Laura Mathis, Mary Jordan, Jennie Nance and Christine Nance, all of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Betty Nance; four brothers-in-law, Bennie Woods, Calvin Card, Richard Mathis and John Jordan, all of Shelby; an aunt, Ethel Hopper of Greensboro; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Gordon Owens. He was a self-employed painter and was a Baptist.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Lee; and four brothers, Ronald Owens, Rick Owens, Yulon Owens and Wilbur Owens.
He is survived by his wife, Virgie Mullinax Owens of the home; his mother, Ethel Lee Owens of Shelby; a son, David Owens of Polkville; three daughters, Elisa Morgan of Polkville, Donna Owens of Ellenboro and Casey Gallington of Morganton; three sisters, Patricia Morrison of Shelby, Mary Sanders of Grover and Helen Dickson of Morganton; three brothers, Lee Owens of Casar, Jeff Owens and Wayne Owens, both of Shelby; a friend, Dean Patterson; five grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

Shelby--Mr. Bobby Gene Jones, 64, of 1213 Brookwood Drive, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenville, S.C., he was the son of the late John Judson and Velva Kale Jones. He served with the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and retired after 29 years as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Jones Freeman.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Duncan Jones; two sons, Robert Michael Jones of Charlotte and John Judson Jones of Atlanta; one daughter, Terrie Jones Toms and her husband, Rick, of Lattimore; three sisters, Greta Jones Linder of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Lynn Jones Ledford of Hampton, V.A.,and LaVonda Jones Lovelace of Shelby; and four grandchildren Katie Toms, Emily Toms, Abby Toms and Pamela Toms.
