Nell "Susie" Ramsey
SHELBY - Mrs. Nell "Susie" Beason Ramsey, 83, of 905 Lake Drive, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Clinton and Mary Tate Beason. She was retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as the first female regional sales representative. She was also a homemaker and a former member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and Cliffside Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband, R.B. Ramsey; four brothers, Baxter Beason, Roy Beason, James Beason and Karl Beason; and a sister, Mildred B. Phillips.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Merry Lynn Ramsey of Boiling Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Gerald Luckadoo of Salisbury; four grandsons; Jonathon Luckadoo and Joseph Luckadoo of Salisbury, Jeffrey Luckadoo of Mount Holly and David Ramsey of Denver; a granddaughter, Alecia Ramsey of Wrightsville Beach; two great-grandsons, Luke Luckadoo of Mount Holly and Garrett Luckadoo of Concord; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Luckadoo of Mount Holly; and two sisters, Flora Beason Winn of Cliffside and Eunice B. Teasley of Shelby.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Mike Motley officiating. The body will be placed at the chapel from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at Cleveland Funeral Services and at other times at the home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Blanche Gantt Eades, 73, of 240 Wright Road, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at White Oak Manor.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Polkville with the Revs. Timmy Whitaker and Tim Setzer officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home and at other times at the home of a sister, Louise Whitaker, 204 Ganley St., Kings Mountain.
Miss Pearson
RANLO - Mrs. Miss Ollie Moore Pearson, 94, of 304 Lewis Road, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Matilda Greene Moore and the wife of the late Jasper Pearson. She was also preceded in death by a son, Conrad Shelton Pearson. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Spencer Mountain Baptist Church.
She is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Charles E. and Vera Pearson of Mount Holly, Marvin and Nancy Rabb Pearson, Lemuel and Brenda Pearson and Dufaye Pearson, all of Gastonia, and Carl and Gladys Wilson Pearson of Dallas; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Edith Battle of Ranlo, Juanita and Aaron Watkins of Georgetown, S.C., and Matilda and Jerry Wolfe of Ranlo; 31 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Spencer Mountain Baptist Church with the Revs. Conley Matlock, Mike Criswell and Keith Dixon officiating.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Flint Hill Baptist Church in Boiling Springs.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia, and on Tuesday at Flint Hill Baptist Church 30 minutes before the graveside service.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Pearson, Steve Pearson, Charlie Pearson, Rick Pearson, Dale Pearson, Allen Wolfe, Curtis Bingham and Wayne Cochran.

SPINDALE - Mr. James Morrison "J.M." Gilbert, 79, of 304 Deviney St., died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his home.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Spencer Baptist Church, with Dr. Larry Gregg and the Revs. Billy Vaughn, Malone Thomason and Bruce Caldwell officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

Minnie Anthony
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Minnie Belle Crawford Biggerstaff Anthony, 80, of Kings Mountain, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Born in Madison, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Fred Aderholt and Vannah Belle Young Crawford. She retired from J.P. Stevens Co. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, where she sang with the Keenage Choir, and a former member of Putnam Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, George Wilson Biggerstaff Sr. and Stanhop Howard Anthony; three brothers, W. C. Crawford, Euell Crawford and Foster Crawford; and two sisters, Virginia Williams and Ruth Byram.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George Wilson Jr. and Mary Ann Biggerstaff of Kings Mountain; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosalind and Doyle Black of Kings Mountain and Cathy and Michael Crisp of Gastonia; a brother, Henry Crawford of Shelby; three sisters, Christine Smith and Kitty Minnix of Shelby and Janet Isrel of Miami; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park, with the Revs. Jeff Brendle and Michael Minnix officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home and at other times at the home of George W. Biggerstaff, 619 Oak Grove Road, Kings Mountain.

SHELBY - Mr. Alvin Jr. "Hollywood" Freeman, 43, of 516 Booker St., died Friday, May 26, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Joey Ramsey
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Joey Calvin Ramsey, 52, of 1415 Shelby Road, died Friday, June 6, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Madison County, he was son of Minnie Thomas Ramsey of Bostic and the late Earnest Ramsey. He was a truck driver for Dixie Industrial Supply and attended Westover Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Ramsey.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Linda Putnam Ramsey of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Cassandra Humphries of Shelby and Phillip and Teresa Humphries of Gaffney, S.C.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sherry and Bobby Davis of Shelby, Lucy and Billy Keeter of Bessemer City and Michelle Ramsey of Rutherfordton; a son, Jeffrey Ramsey; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Maxine Ramsey of Greenville, Tenn. and Danny Lee and Nancy Ramsey of Rutherfordton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlene and Dale Earwood of Rutherfordton and Betty and Johnny Crawford and Glenda and Bruce Clemmins, all of Bostic; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Haskins officiating. Burial will folow at Sunset Cemetery.

KINGSTOWN - Mr. Charlie Finney, 72, of 1905 Petty Road, died Friday, June 2, 2000.

E.S. Walker Jr.
FOREST CITY - Mr. E.S. Walker Jr., 73, of 429 Chase High Road, died June 2, 2000, at Park Ridge Hospital in Fletcher.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Edmond Spurgon Sr. and Mae Trout Walker. He was a retired self-employed backhoe servicer. He was a Marine veteran, serving as a military policeman. He was also a fire chief at The Sandy Mush Fire Department for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hutchins Walker of the home; three sons, Ronnie Walker, Dr. Lanny Walker and E. Sheldon Walker, all of Forest City; one daughter, Barbara Walker Freeman of Forest City; one sister, Doris Smith of Forest City; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Morris Byers and Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

William Carpenter
SHELBY - Mr. William Harold Carpenter, 74, of 2072 Biggers Lake Road, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Eva Mae Dedmon Carpenter. He was a retired contractor working as a brick mason and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran who served in World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Sue Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine "Jerry" Moore Carpenter, to whom he would have been married to for 48 years on June 27, 2000; two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Barbara Carpenter and Kenneth and Vickie Carpenter, all of Shelby; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Danny Blanton, Karla and Roger Spangler and Lori Timothy Wellmon, all of Shelby; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Geraldine Monroe and Barbara and Bill Huffman, all of Shelby; a cousin, Ben Carpenter; friends, Ronnie and Gwen Lowery; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Todd Bolin, Cline Borders and Wray Barrett officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.

Eliza Brackett
LAWNDALE - Mrs. Eliza G. Luckadoo Brackett, 89, of 107 Charlie Randall Road, died Sunday, June 04, 2000, at her home.
Born Jan. 16, 1911, in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late John Emmer and Ida Ledford Luckadoo. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Cleveland Mills. She was a member of Lawndale Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Z. Brackett Sr.; and two grandsons, Charles Dewey Brackett and Michael Lee Buff.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dewey Z. Jr. and Ruth C. Brackett of Lawndale; a daughter, Betty Brackett Buff of Lawndale; a brother, Jesse M. Luckadoo of Casar; three granddaughters, Doris Clements and her husband, Brinson, both of Savannah, Ga., and Jennifer Buff Newton and Jamie Buff, both of Lawndale; a grandson, Jeremy Buff of Mooresboro; and two great-grandchildren, Adriane Brackett and Jordan Brackett.

ELLENBORO - Mr. T. P. Byers, 83, of 258 Bradley Road, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Fair Haven Nursing Center.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Andy and Saphia Bradley Byers. He retired from Duke Power, where he worked as a line technician. He was a member of Gantt's Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Mae Beaver Byers; and a son, Wendell Byers.
He is survived by his wife, Essie Bailey Byers of the home; one son, Wayne Byers of Ellenboro; two stepsons, Michael Souther of Spindale and Johnny Souther of Ellenboro; six daughters, Brenda Carter, Rita Walker, Kay Wilson and Lou Ann Bennett, all of Ellenboro, Gertie Tesseneer of Forest City and Connie Lavender of Hampton, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, with the Rev. Caris Owens and Ad Hopper officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Viola Davis
SHELBY - Mrs. Viola Bradshaw Chapman Davis, 89, of 1418 Wesson Road, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Emory and Etta Tipton Bradshaw. She was a member of Columbus Baptist Church in Columbus.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Gail Hall and two granddaughters, Leslie G. Edison and Christie Lynn Chapman.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Chapman Edison of Gastonia; two sons, Gerald D. Chapman of Iron Station and Frank P. Chapman of Shelby; two brothers, Willard Bradshaw of Lynn and Ned Bradshaw of Hodgenville, Ky.; a sister, Modena Ross of Gastonia; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Causby Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.

Blanche Magness
ALPHARETTA, GA. - Mrs. Blanche Eaker Magness, 87, of 13000 Freemanville Road, formerly of Shelby, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Mariner Health in Atlanta.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Docia Falls Eaker. She was co-owner of Magness Market and Magness Produce and was a member of Extension Department of First Baptist Church and TEL Sunday school class of First Baptist Church of Shelby.
In addition to her parents, she was the preceded in death by her husband, James Everette Magness Sr. and two sisters, Evelyn Reid and Polly E. Walker.
She is survived by two nieces, Jean W. Ledbetter and Brenda Mitchem, both of Shelby; three grandchildren, James E. Magness III, Bebe Daher and David Butler Jr., all of Atlanta; two great-grandchildren, David Butler III and Brannon Williams, both of Atlanta.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Robert Canoy officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery.
