SHELBY - Mr. William Lee "Bill" Grigg, 54, of 512 Gorman St., died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

Ethel Lilley
BLOWING ROCK - Mrs. Ethel P. Lilley, formerly of Atlanta, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Watauga Medical Center in Boone.
Born in Forsyth County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Francis Marion and Lillian Purcell. She received a law degree in 1929, and as the second woman licensed as a real estate broker in Georgia, was considered a pioneer in that field. She operated her own real estate company in Atlanta's Emory area for 42 years. She studied and taught the Bible for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.D. "Ed" Lilley.
She is survived by daughters, Jane Lilley Street of Blowing Rock and Marian Lilley Moore of St. Simon's Island, Ga.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Tom Wages Funeral Home, 120 Scenic Hwy., Lawrenceville, Ga. Burial will follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Cathy Robeson
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Mrs. Cathy Williamson Robeson, 47, died Friday, June 9, 2000.
Born in Shelby, she was a daughter of Charles D. Williamson, now of Columbia, S.C., and the late Ethel Davidson Williamson. She had been the secretary-receptionist for Covenant Christian School from 1993 to 1999, and formerly worked in Sen. Strom Thurmond's Columbia office. For about five years, she was active in a worldwide online discussion and support group consisting of about a thousand women battling ovarian cancer. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, John G. Robeson; two sons, Charles Daniel Robeson and Joel Shane Robeson, both of Columbia; and two sisters, Crystal Williamson and Connie Dodenhoff, both of Columbia.
A graveside service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Covenant Christian School or to Covenant Presbyterian Church renovation fund.

Loretta Whisnant
SHELBY - Mrs. Loretta Whisnant, 52, of 1809 Petty Road, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Cardinal Health Care and Rehab in Lincolnton.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Thompson Brothers Funeral Home.

Madison Flynn
FOREST CITY - Madison Lee Flynn, infant daughter of Matthew and Michelle Flynn, died Friday, June 9, 2000.
A graveside service will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Floyd's Creek Cemetery.

FOREST CITY - Melanie Marie Flynn, infant daughter of Matthew and Michelle Flynn, died Friday, June 9, 2000.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Mrs. Mary M. McDowell, 71, of 30 East 50th St., formerly of Shelby, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Jersey City Medical Center.
The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Angelic Baptist Church in Bayone, N.J. Burial will follow at Roswell Cemetery in Linden, N.J.
Murry Funeral Home, 748 Ocean Ave., Jersey City, is in charge of arrangements. Genesis Funeral Services is in charge of local arrangements.

Clarence Petty
SHELBY - Mr. Clarence Lee Petty, 66, of 330 Oates Drive, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Hospice of Wendover.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Genesis Funeral Services.

Roy Teddy Jr.
SHELBY - Mr. Roy F. Teddy Jr., 78, of 408 Charles Road, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at his home.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Roy F. Sr. and Lucille Auten Teddy. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the European Theatre. He retired as a salesman from O.E. Ford Co. He was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, where he had served as deacon, elder and church treasurer. He was an Eagle Scout.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Caldwell Teddy of the home; a son, Michael E. Teddy of Shelby; daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Tom Price of Shelby; two brothers, Junius Teddy and James Teddy, both of Shelby; two sisters, Barbara Elliott of Fallston and Betty Moore of Raleigh; one grandson, Garrett Price; two granddaughters, Bonney Price and Lea Price; and a friend and caregiver, Mae Reynolds.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at John Knox Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bill Troutman officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to John Knox Presbyterian Church, kitchen fund, 610 Charles Road, Shelby, N.C. 28152.

Leroy Thomas
GASTONIA - Mr. Leroy Thomas, 64, of Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation in Gastonia, formerly of Cleveland County died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at his home.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. David A. Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Hollybrook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.
Ebony & White's Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Bill Grigg
SHELBY - Mr. William Lee "Bill" Grigg, 54, of 512 Gorman St., died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Fred and Lilly Allen Grigg. He was a computer operator at Doran Computer Center. He was a member of Putnam Memorial Baptist Church and the Amvets. He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1963 to 1967. He was a former deacon and chairman of the deacon board at Lily Memorial Baptist Church. He was a former deacon, brotherhood director and Sunday school teacher at Northside Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hal Grigg and Maynard Grigg.
Surviving are his wife, S. Jean Smith Grigg of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Tim Boyd of Vale and Kimberly and Toney Reeves of Shelby; a brother, Milland Grigg and his wife, Connie, of Shelby; two sisters, Marjorie Boysworth and her husband, Charles, of Pickens, S.C. and Joyce Mellon of Vale; and three grandsons, John-Michael Maganess, Brandon Maganess and William Boyd.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Putnam Memorial Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bryan Glisson and Larry Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times, at the home of Kimberly and Toney Reeves, 1313 S. Post Road, Apt. 1.

ELLENBORO - Mr. Billy Arnold Blackburn, 51, of Ellenboro, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Race Path Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harrelson Funeral Home in Caroleen.

CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Ethel Stroupe Timmons, 81, of Dallas-Cherryville Highway, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Lincoln Nursing Center in Lincolnton.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dr. Billy Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Carpenter's Funeral Home.

Marie Warlick
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Marie Robbins Warlick, 87, of Forest City, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at Rutherford Hosptial.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today at Missionary Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. R.L. Prendergrast officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today at the church.

Clarence Petty
SHELBY - Mr. Clarence Lee Petty, 66, of 330 Oates Drive, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Hospice of Wendover.
The funeral will be held at noon Saturday at Genesis Funeral Services Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Dover officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the chapel and at other times, at the home of Mrs. Wanda McKinney, 1607 Rolling Meadow Lane in Gastonia.

Brunson Harmon
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Brunson Harmon, 67, of 124 Williams Road, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Jay Dee Harmon and Selma Williams Harmon Hawkins. He was co-owner, founder, and vice president of Harmon Oil Co.of Shelby and was also retired from Carolina Freight. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and was a Thirty Second Degree Mason and a member of the Fairview Masonic Lodge in Kings Mountain. He served in the Army in the 8th Army Quartermaster Division, French Zone of Occupation in the European Theatre during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Lovelace Harmon of Kings Mountain; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Harmon and Terry G. Franks of Kings Mountain; and two granchildren, Melissa Franks and William Franks.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, with the Rev. Ron Caulder officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home.

Christine Wellmon
SHELBY - Mrs. Christine Helmich Wellmon, 67, of 903 Blanton St., died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at her home.
A native of Germany, born Oct. 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elenore Helmich. She was a member of Normans Grove Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold James Wellmon.
She is survived by a son, Mark Anthony Lewis of Lumberton; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Louella Lewis and Steve Collins of Lumberton; two sisters, Ursula Bradley of Dallas, Texas, and Ilse Wiessenbacher of Austria; two grandsons, Daniel Collins of Lumberton and Rocky Brian Ashe of Shelby; a granddaughter, Christy Hoyle Fortenberry of Shelby; and two great-granddaughters, Victoria Fortenberry and Hanna Fortenberry, both of Shelby.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Normans Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Cecil Buff officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
Stamey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Dunaway
SMYRNA, Tenn. - Mrs. Barbara Littlejohn Dunaway, 53, of Smyrna, Tenn., died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at Centennial Medical Center.
A native of Shelby, she was the daughter of the late Mazela Mashaw and William Huddleston.
She is survived by her husband, James T. Dunaway of Smyrna; two sons, James T. Dunaway III of Stamford, Conn. and Kevin Dunaway of Smyrna.; a sister, Hattie M. Littlejohn of Stamford; and a brother, Calvin Littlejohn of Houston.
The funeral was held Monday at noon at the H. Preston Seales & Sons Funeral Home in Murfreeboro, Tenn., with the Rev. John T. Howse officiating.
Burial followed at Sand Hill Cemetery.
Foster Funeral Home of Gaffney, S.C., was in charge of local arrangements.

Grace Byers
SHELBY - Mrs. Grace Viola Rodchester Byers, 71, of 1020 S. Morgan St., died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born Aug. 23, 1928, the daughter of the late Paul E. and Mary Magdalene Jefferson Rodchester. She was a retired inspector at Universal Manufacturing Company and was a member of Village Chapel of Forest City. She was a foster grandparent at Marion School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James Jefferson, Calvin Rodchester, Lawrence Rodchester and Willie Rodchester.
She is survived by her husband, Hoyle Anderson Byers of the home; two sons, Steve Byers of Patterson Springs and James Byers of Fallston; two daughters, Lucille Sumner David of Shelby and Kathy Dale Thomas of Forest City; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. George W. Whitmire and John B. Seugers officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Cleveland County Unit of the American Cancer Society, 500 E. Morehead St., Suite 211, Charlotte, N.C. 28202.
