Dorothy Robertson
MOORESBORO - Mrs. Dorothy Cromer Robertson, 66, of 101 Osprey Lane, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Lois Tessneer Cromer. She was an in-home caregiver for the elderly and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George O. Robertson.
She is survived by two daughters, Teresa West of Simpsonville, S.C., and Linda Barlow of Mooresboro; three brothers, R.T. Cromer and Joe Cromer, both of Mooresboro, and Bill Cromer of Orange Park, Fla.; six grandchildren, Josh Calhoun, Ryan Calhoun, Zach Barlow, Nathan Kerr, Samantha Barlow and Jason Kerr.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Rev. Greg Qualls officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home.

MOORESBORO - Mr. David Marlow Henderson, 43, of 270 Keeter Road, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at his residence.
The funeral will be held at a later date.

Talmadge Queen
SHELBY - Mr. Talmadge Dwight Queen, 77, of 3425 Fallston Road, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Charles Lee Queen and Margaret Ann Ellen Wright. He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 82 and the Senior Water Aerobics Class. He was a member of Mulls Memorial Baptist Church, and belonged to the Senior Men's Sunday School Class. He was an Army veteran of World War II, who served in the European Theater.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Pearl Turner; a son, Steven Dwight Queen; and a brother, Sherrill Queen.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Queen Sisk and her husband, Steve, of Shelby; two sisters, Alene Queen Lang of Atlanta and Linda Franklin of Cherryville; and a brother, Herbert Queen of Grover.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mulls Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ervin Price officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home and other times at the home of Steve and Cheryl Sisk, 1306 Spurlin St., Shelby.

Julius Walker
DALLAS - Mr. Julius Jerome Walker, 69, of 1712 Mayberry Road, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A native of Caldwell County, he was raised in Belmont by his parents, the late John Spencer and Macie Helton Walker. He was a quality assurance supervisor for 35 years for Pneumafil Corp. and retired in 1993. He was a veteran of the Army, serving 10 years as staff sergeant in the Korean Conflict, stationed in Japan. He was a graduate of Southern Biscayne College in Gastonia, a member of Auten-Stowe American Legion Post No. 144, a former member of Belmont Moose Lodge and umpire for local little league baseball. He was a part-time instructor of blue print reading at N.C. Vocational Textile School in Belmont and at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte. He was a member of Community Christian Fellowship in Lucia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mildred Coley Walker, and three brothers, Marshall Walker, Marvin Walker and James Walker.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry L. and Mary Walker of Mount Holly and Anthony J. and LeAnn Walker of Gastonia; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Jeanne W. and Michael Falls of Shelby, Debbie W. and Raymond Morris of Denver, Teresa W. and Dean Haney of the home and Sheila W. Cagle of Mount Holly; two brothers, Douglas Walker of Lowell and Franklin Walker of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Colleen Bumgardner; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at McLean Funeral Directors Founders Chapel, with the Revs. Joe Small and Fain Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jason Cagle, Mark Cagle, Joe Patterson, Jeff Walker, David Mauney and Randall Smitherman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Jenkins, Joshua Walker, Matthew Walker, Jeremy Walker, Dustin Walker, Jeffrey Morris and Michael Morris.

SHELBY - Mrs. Cora Mitchell Freeman, 61, of 204 Ramblewood Drive, Apt. 1, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
A graveside funeral will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Golden Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, 3426 Polkville Road, Shelby, with the Rev. Kenneth Martin Sr. officiating.

SHELBY - Mr. Clarence Edward "Ed" Wilson, 84, of 702 Wilson Cornwell Road, died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at his residence.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Samuel Clarence and Laura Spangler Wilson. He was a graduate of Lattimore High School. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church, where he was a member of the church choir, a former deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was the first scout master for Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 13 at Zion Baptist Church. He was owner and manager of the Wilson Country Ham Biscuit Stand at the Cleveland County Fair for 38 years. He was a member of Camp Call Masonic Lodge for 50 years. He was a member of the Shelby Lions Club. He founded Wilson Real Estate Co. and was a member of the Cleveland County Board of Realtors for 36 years and was a charter member of the Multiple Listing Service. He was also a retired car dealer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Grayson Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Hazel Bolin Wilson of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel Howard and Myra D. Wilson of Shelby; two grandsons and their wives, James T. "Jimmy" and Deborah Blanton Wilson and David Edward and Sharon Smith Wilson, all of Shelby; a step-granddaughter and her husband, Carmen A. and Billy Blanton of Shelby; a sister, Laura Faye Wilson of Shelby; four great-grandchildren, James Alexander Wilson, Edward Lee Wilson, Virginia Ann "Jenna" Wilson and Grace Elizabeth Wilson, all of Shelby.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Zion Baptist Church, with the Revs. Randy Bridges and Russell Fitts officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

FALLSTON - Mr. William E. "Eddie" Owens, 53, of 3904 Fallston-Waco Road, died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 29, 1946, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Clifford "Deck" Dextor and Essie Mae Johnson Owens. He was a supervisor at Bernhardt Furniture. He was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Owens, and a sister, Christine Cline.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Nettles Owens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Warren Smith of Fallston and Dianne and Jerry Lovelace of Polkville; a granddaughter, Kristin Lovelace of Polkville; a grandson, Michael Smith of Fallston; four brothers, Cliff Owens of Boiling Springs, Bill Owens and Jessie Owens, both of Shelby, and Boyd Owens of Cherryville; and three sisters, Lona Craig and Martha Owens, both of Shelby and Lisa Shelton of Walnut Cove.

Pearl Yelton
MARION - Mrs. Pearl Puett Yelton, 88, 1192 Jacktown Road, died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at her residence.
Born in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late George and Ada Wilson Puett. She graduated from Mars Hill College, and in 1954, she received her bachelor of arts degree from Lenoir Rhyne College. She taught in McDowell, Cleveland and Burke counties and in Decatur, Ala.
She is survived by her husband, Everett Yelton; a brother, John Puett of Huntersville; two sisters, Irene Hutchins of Morganton and Edna Puett of Cherryville; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Cane Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Lance Scarlett and Earl Waters officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Born June 19, 1919, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Wilby Edward and Clementine "Clem" Blanton Fox. He was a retired structural ironworker. He was a member of Lawndale United Methodist Church and Lawndale Masonic Lodge No. 486. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Grude Fox, Ernest Fox and Edward Fox; and a sister, Paris Fox.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Southard Fox; two sons, Dennis "Denny" Fox and his wife, Mary, and Bill Fox; a grandson, John Fox; and a granddaughter, Kristin Fox.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Lawndale United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Reep officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park with masonic rites.
