LAWNDALE - Mr. Ivey T.C. Millon, 79, of 148 Creekwood Road, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Frank and Sarah Johnson Millon. He was a retired wet end operator at Kings Mountain Mica and was a member of Ledford Grove Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters; one grandson and a great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Swink Millon of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Joyce Mellon of Vale, Larry and Kathy Mellon of Lawndale, Thomas and Carolyn Mellon of Cherryville and Ricky and Phyllis Mellon of Casar; three daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Steve Sellars of Connelly Springs, Carolyn and Frank McGinnis of Lincolnton and Marie and Ricky Johnson of Lawndale; a grandson, Michael Mellon of Lawndale; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Doug James, Rufus Davis and Clyde Price officiating.
Burial will follow at House of Prayer Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at the funeral home.

Hillard Brittain
VALE - Mr. Hillard Irley Brittain, 81, of 7732 Hallman Mill Road, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at David's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Burton officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home.

Elma Walker
CAROLEEN - Mrs. Elma Lee Atkins Walker, 89, of 544 Middle St., died Monday, July 17, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Ida Yarbough Atkins. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buster W. Walker.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Terry of Caroleen; three sons, Coye Walker and Larry Walker, both of Caroleen and Jerry Walker of Forest City; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Danny Smiley and Rick Hamlett officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Russell Morgan Jr.
CLAREMONT - Mr. Russell Beam Morgan Jr., 67, of 5460 Herman Road, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, at Catawba Memorial Hospital.
Born December 18, 1932 in Rutherford County, he was the son of Cora Ree Hudgins Morgan and the late Russell B. Sr. of Ellenboro. He was retired from Kroehler Furniture Company as an upholster. He was a member of the National Guard Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy V. Morgan of the home; a daughter, Diane Maria Bridges of Lawndale; four sisters, Mary Ree Smith of Valdese, Donna Beaver and Linda Lovelace, both of Polkville and Judy Hudson of Bostic; a brother, Robert Morgan of Newton; two granchildren; and one great-granchild.
A private service will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658.

Mazelle Carpenter
LAWNDALE - Mrs. Mazelle Crowder Carpenter, 71, of 105 Bonita Court, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Born Jan. 15, 1929 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Ferman Crowder and Bessie Grigg Crowder Messer. She was retired from the Shelby Middle School lunchroom and was a member of Casar United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Earl Carpenter.
She is survived by a son and his fiancee, Jerry Carpenter and Kathy Hyde of Lawndale; a brother, Norris Crowder of Gastonia, a granddaughter, Sheila Greene and her husband, Chad, of Lawndale; a great-grandson, Dustin Greene; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Greene; a stepgranddaughter, Rhonda Lawhon and her husband, Jeremy; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Chelsea Powell; and a stepgreat-grandson, Jacob Lawhon.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Casar United Methodist Church, with Mr. Jack Waters and Mr. Harland Vaugh officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Stella Pettus
GASTONIA - Mrs. Stella Davis Pettus, 88, formerly of 107 S. Liberty St., died Friday, July 21, 2000, at Asbury Care Center in Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Mary Elizabeth Blanton Davis. She was retired from Franklin Hardware after 27 years of service, where she was a bookkeeper. She was a member of Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and served as a Sunday school teacher of the Friendly Sunday School Class and in various offices and committees.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Pettus; five brothers, Roy L. Davis, Ben Davis, Grady Davis, Fred Davis, and Zay Davis; and one sister, Bessie Davis.
She is survived by six nephews, Harold Davis of Perryville, Mo., William Davis of Clemmons, Bob Davis of Charlotte, Ken Davis of Etowah, Gene Davis of Gastonia, and Max Davis of Charlottesville, Va.; three nieces, Stella Davis Ware of Kings Mountain, Mary Davis Coley of Gastonia and Susan Davis Ratchford of Black Mountain; 21 great nieces and nephews; 22 great-great nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great niece.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Ratchford and the Rev. Harold Schwantes officiating. A private burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends following the service in the atrium of the church.

Earl Pearson
SHELBY - Mr. Edison Earl Pearson, 85, of Shelby, formerly of Lawndale, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Issac S. and Minnie Cook Pearson. He was a retired spinner at Cleveland Mills and was a member of Lawndale United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Neal Pearson; a son, Roger Pearson; two brothers, J.T. Pearson and Robert Pearson; and a sister, Inez Haynes.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Pearson of Shelby and Gene Pearson of Morganton; a daughter, Brenda Davis Pearson of Shelby; two sisters, Pondareebee Miller of Gary, Ind., and Evelyn Bridges of Wilmington; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel in Fallston, with the Rev. David Reep officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.

ELLENBORO - Mrs. Linda Kay Bailey Bostic, 52, of 137 Padgett St., died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Spartanburg (S.C.) Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Evangel Fellowship with Dr. Roger Gosnell officiating. Burial will be at Race Path Baptist Church Cemetery in Mooresboro.

FOREST CITY - Mr. Doug Newton, 62, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Chase Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Butler officiating.
There is no formal visitation.

Jeanette McSwain
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Mrs. Jeanette W. McSwain, formerly of Shelby, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
Born Nov. 6, 1928, in Shelby, she graduated from Shelby High School in 1945. She served as Deputy Clerk of Superior Court of Cleveland County until 1968. She and her son accompanied her husband on military tours of duty to Adak, Alaska, Jacksonville, Fla., and Port Hueneme, Calif. She was a retired civil service clerk employed by the Department of Defense for 20 years. A former member of Shelby Presbyterian Church, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church in San Luis Obispo. She enjoyed aerobics, traveling with friends and participating in the lives of her son and young grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Ray McSwain; her mother, Edith Arrowood Wilson; and her father, James R. Wilson, all formerly of Shelby.
She is survived by her son, Eric McSwain and his wife, Susan, and grandchildren Ethan and Sean, all of San Luis Obispo.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shelby Presbyterian Church with Dr. Luke Harkey officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7 to 8 at Palmer Mortuary and at other times at the home of Eugene and Nancy Arrowood.

Ruppert Simmons
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Ruppert Simmons, 95, of 601 Groves St., died Monday, June 18, 2001, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel at Harris Funeral Home, with the Revs. Buddy Williams and Ansel Center officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.

BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. Horace Junior "Bill" Parker, 79, of 209 Bolton - Parker Road, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at his home.
The graveside service is today at 4 p.m. at Clingman Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Marshall Foster officiating.

John Clark
SHELBY - Mr. John T. Clark, 95, of 383 Preyer St., died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Jones County, Ga., he was a son of the late Lewis and Annie Bell Clark. He worked as a cook at Buffalo Fish Camp for 30 years and also farmed. He retired 22 years ago. He was a member of Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Lawndale and the NAACP.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Vinson Clark.
He is survived by two daughters, Laurene Clark and Eula Logan, both of Shelby; a brother, Leroy Vinson of Lawndale; 12 grandchildren and 19 great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church with Elder James Benton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

Odessa Green
HENRIETTA - Mrs. Odessa Brooks Green, 91, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Hillcrest Adult Care Facility.
Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late William James and Octavia McCurry Brooks. She was a retired textile employee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Will Green; a brother, Fay Brooks; and a sister, Elizabeth Burke.
She is survived by three sisters, Madge Philbeck of Mooresboro, Bertha Lowery of Greenville, S.C., and Mae Black of Ellenboro; and nieces and nephews.
The graveside service is today at 11 a.m. at Walls Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. John Godfrey officiating. There is no formal visitation.

SHELBY - Mr. Ulysses Saddler, 76, of 607 Lineburger St., died Friday, June 15, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born August 30, 1924, in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Joe and Marie J. Saddler. He was a former member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He later joined Love Temple Ministry of Shelby in 1992.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, one sister, and two sons, Martin Wilson and Earnest Lowe.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Mae Wilson Saddler of the home; one daughter, Essie Lean Tillman Lowe of Shelby; one son and a daughter - in - law, Norman and Marlean Lowe of Shelby; a special grandson, Antonio Borders of the home; 17 grandchildren; 38 great - grandchildren; one brother and a sister - in - law, James and Nora Saddler of Blacksburg, S.C.; one sister, Ida M. Wray; two sisters - in - law, Regina Banks and Elizabeth Surratt, both of Shelby; a brother - in - law, DeWitt Wray of Kings Mountain; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Genesis Chapel. Burial will be at Webb Memorial Lawns with Bishop Randolph Wray officiating.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the funeral at the funeral home.

Anthony McCain
SHELBY - Mr. Anthony James "Tony" McCain, 37, of 209 Ramblewood Drive Apt. 72, died Friday, June 15, 2001, at his home.
A native of Lincolnton, he was the son of James Edward McCain Jr. of High Point and Reita Sanford of Shelby. He was formerly employed by Hickory Springs Manufacturing for 14 years until his health failed.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandmother, Ella McCain of Shelby; two sons, Dustin McCain and Jaquan Clark, both of Lawndale; two daughters, Ciara McCain of Lawndale and Areisha Carlton of Lenoir; one brother, Willie Sanford Jr. of Shelby; six sisters, Aretha McCain and Donna McCain, both of Shelby, Amanda Schenck of Waco, Jerri McCain of Charlotte, Jorie Thomas and Velinda Voncannon, both of High Point; and one grandson.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel at Enloe Mortuary with the Rev. Nathaniel Craig officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the funeral at the funeral home and other times at the home of his mother, Reita Sanford, 609 Oakley St., Shelby.

BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Lucy Broome White, 92, of 203 S. Charleston St., died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Blacksburg Church of God with the Rev. James Clark officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 9 at White Columns Funeral Service in Blacksburg and at other times at the home of her son, 106 Colonial Heights, Blacksburg.

Ben Adams
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Ben D. Adams, 75, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at White Oak Manor.
Born Nov. 14, 1916, in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Alexander and Rosie Adams. He was a member of the St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church and a former owner and manager of the Kings Mountain "A's" Baseball Team and the manager and booking agent for the Mighty Starlit Gospel Singer. He was employed as a dye houseworker at Central Yard and Dye Co. of Gastonia. He retired from the dye house at Mauney Hosiery Mill in Kings Mountain.
He is survived by his wife, Sallie Mae Smith Adams; two sisters, Inez Dye of China Grove and Mary Eliza Edwards of Kings Mountain; two brothers, the Rev. James Adams and Alexander Adams, both of Kings Mountain; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.
