Kathryn "Kat" Bridges
SHELBY - Mrs. Kathryn "Kat" Blanton Bridges, 65, of 1143 Bridges St., died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Dora Ledbetter Blanton and the late Luther Blanton. She worked at Lily Mill and retired from the Senior Center where she was the kitchen supervisor. She was a member of Lily Baptist Church; she attended Putnam Memorial Baptist Church. She was a member of the Lily Woman's Club and the Senior Center.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denny Moore Bridges; and one sister, Judy Moss.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Dennis Bridges, Douglas "Buddy" and Lynn Bridges and Chuck Bridges and Sherry Padgett, all of Shelby and Lindy and Tamara Bridges of Morganton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Pat and Ernest McDonald of Lawndale and Cindy Bridges of Shelby; two brothers, Bill Blanton of Newton and Doug Blanton of Casar; one sister, Sadie Garver of Lawndale; grandchildren, David and Kelli Bridges, Terrany and David Wright, Teresa, John, Andy, Josh, Alan and Amber Bridges and Jennifer Pearson; and two great-grandchildren, Austin Bridges and David Keith Bridges.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Putnam Memorial Baptist Church with the Revs. Bryan Glisson and Marion Adams officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the mother's home, 1151 Bridges St., Shelby.

Bobby Wilson Jr.
GASTONIA - Rev. Bobby Wilson Jr., 49, of 2300 Knight Drive, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at First Antioch Church in Gastonia. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Holiness Church in Kings Mountain.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Virgil "Mac" McSwain
GREENVILLE - Mr. Virgil Keith "Mac" McSwain, 90, of 2001 Pelham Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Aaron F. and Buena Petty McSwain. He was owner and operator of McSwain Well Drilling Company. He was a member of Washington Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran who served in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Lavonda McCrary McSwain of the home; one daughter, Melissa M. Collins of Greer, S.C.; two sisters, Lillian M. Stroud and Lucille M. McSwain, both of Shelby; and one granddaughter, Julie M. Collins.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Gray Mortuary Chapel in Pelzer, S.C., with the Revs. Stan Candler and James Ellenburg officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday one hour before the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Dan and Melissa Collins, 13 Stone Valley Court, Greer.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Chloe McGinnis McGinnis, 89, of 1001 Sherwood Lane, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Conrad and Sallie Earney McGinnis. She was a homemaker and a member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert K. McGinnis; one brother, Carl McGinnis; and a sister, Bonnie Matthews Watterson.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Hubert K. McGinnis Jr. and Pam McGinnis of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Freida McGinnis of Kings Mountain; and two grandchildren, Sam McGinnis and Bess McGinnis, both of Kings Mountain.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church with Dr. John Mauney officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.

WACO - Mr. Clyde Wray Black, 86, of 2204 Stoney Point Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Carolina Care in Cherryville.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Albert Wilburn and Ida Eaker Black. He was retired from Dicey Fabric Mill in Shelby where he was a supervisor. He was a member of Waco Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Aileen Sneed Black of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Diane Black of Shelby and Ron and Beth Black of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Reita and Jerry Stroupe of Cherryville and Gail and Gene Morgan of Charleston, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Waco Baptist Church with the Rev. Royce Ballew officiating. Burial will follow at Capernaum Cemetery in Waco.

A native of Shelby, she was the daughter of William "Bill" Gerald Pendleton and Nancy Suttle Pendleton. She graduated from Shelby High School and attended Gardner-Webb University. She was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn Raymond Shutt of Ladson; three sisters, Beth Ross of San Francisco, Nancy Knowles of Palm Desert, Calif. and Billie Pendleton-Parker of Decatur, Ga.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Roger Dale Bell, 49, of 935 Stoney Point Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Edna and Bob Fortenberry and of the late Edwin Bell. He worked for KoSa for 29 years.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, he is survived by his companion of 15 years, Lena Lail Gardner of Kings Mountain; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Eddie Newton of Shelby; one stepson and his wife, Jeff and Trisha Beaver of Polkville; two brothers, Carl Bell and Donald Bell, both of Shelby; one half brother, Lee Fortenberry of Shelby; one granddaughter, Jada Bell; and four stepgrandchildren, Ashley Beaver, Cortney Beaver, Lindsay Beaver and Dylan Beaver.

CHARLOTTE - Miss Cecelia Howard Keel, 57, of 4212 Sharon View Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Shelby, she was born on September 15, 1941, the daughter of Elizabeth Patrick Keel and the late Charles Keel. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1959. She attended Woman's College in Greensboro and graduated from Saint Andrews College. She received a Master's Degree from UNC Chapel Hill in Special Education and a Master's Degree from Winthrop University in History. She taught school in New York City, Atlanta and Mecklenburg County, where she taught for 20 years. She retired in October 1997 after 30 years.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Patrick Keel. In addition to her mother, she is survived by aunts and uncles, Grethchen and Marvin Martin of York, S.C. and Lucy and Kinsman Keel of Hudson, Fla.; and many cousins. A graveside service will be Thursday at 6 p.m. at Bowling Green Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. George Rolling officiating.

A native of Iredell County, she was born on April 14, 1916, the daughter of the late Archie and Ella Smith Hinson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She worked at Cannon Mills Co. No. 4 Cloth Room.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Porter Bryson of Thomasville and Faye and Bobby McDaniel of Kannapolis; two brothers, James Hinson and Larry Hinson, both of Kannapolis; six grandchildren, Kathy Guffey of Shelby, Rita Beck of Salisbury, Danny Jenkins, Billy Ray Jenkins, Michael McDaniel and Timothy McDaniel, all of Kannapolis; five great-grandchildren, Tonya Burleson of Stanfield, Adam Smith of Camp Lejeune, Danny Jenkins Jr., Heather McDaniel and Jeremy McDaniel, all of Kannapolis; and two great-great-grandchildren, Haley Burleson and Kelly Burleson, both of Stanfield.
