FOREST CITY - Mrs. Sarah Thompson, 79, of 375 Harmony St., died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. H.D. Tate and Thomas Thompson Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p. m. at the church.
Thompson Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MILDRED KING
SHELBY - Ms. Mildred Vangie Seagle King, 86, of 401 N. Morgan St., died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at White Oak Manor of Shelby.
The family will receive friends at the home of a grandson, Mark Davis, 1502 Lackey St.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

MARGARET NELON
LAKE LURE - Ms. Margaret Ann Brittain Nelon, 95, of 564 Girl's Camp Road, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Margaret Pardee Hospital.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p. m. at Cane Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Ansel Pace and Jerry Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p. m. at Crowe Funeral Home.

EARL TAYLOR
FOREST CITY - Mr. Earl Cleveland Taylor, 86, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at his home.
The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a. m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with the Revs. Norman Hubbard and Fred Hill officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 4 to 6 at Harrelson Funeral Home.

PHILLIP WALKER
FOREST CITY - Mr. Phillip Walker, 70, of Knollwood Drive, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.

SHELBY - Teresa Sisk Rizkallah, 40, of 1830 Kemp Circle, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services.

MARY ROSS
LENOIR - Mrs. Mary Virginia Williams Ross, 94, of 1450 Shaire Center Drive, died Friday, August 11, 2000, at Shaire Center Rest Home.
A native of Burke County, she was the daughter of the late M.S. and Nancy Ella Willis Williams. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Fallston Baptist Church, the Baptist Women, Fallston Women's Club and the Home Demonstration Club. She was a Sunday school teacher in the children's department.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Osborn Ross Sr.; two brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George Jr. and Marilyn Ross of Charlotte; three daughters and a son in law, Alice R. Austin of Lenoir, Betty R. Stewart of Roxboro, and Jean and Dr. W. M. Coward of Greensboro; one sister, Ethel Watkins of Macon, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Fallston Baptist Church with the Revs. Scott Norton and Bruce Rabon officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 1 to 1:45 at Stamey Funeral Home.

SUE STRANGE
GROVER - Mrs. Sue Newton Strange, 89, of 373 Roseborough Road, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Dock Eli and Mary Ann Starns Newton. She was a homemaker and attended Long Shoals Baptist Church in Lincolnton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh B. Strange; two sons, Jerry Lee Strange and J.B. Strange; and two daughters, Mary Sue Ramsey and Marie Price.
She is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Jackie Strange of Cleveland, Ohio, Jim and Janice Strange of Grover, Dillard and Mylinda Strange of Shelby, James and Rita Strange of Rutherfordton, Bobby and Maebelle Strange of Kings Mountain, Billy and Helen Strange of Boiling Springs; one daughter, Ruby Peeler of Grover; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a. m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38051.

AYDLOTTE PHILBECK
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. Aydlotte "A.R." Philbeck, 78, of 535 N. Charleston St., died Friday, August 11, 2000, at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Broadus Randolph and Minnie Moss Philbeck. He was a retired machinist and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Batchler Philbeck of the home; a daughter, Brenda Philbeck Putnam of Gaffney; two brothers, Tommy Philbeck of Marion and Willis Philbeck of Ocala, Fla.; three sisters, Alda Mae Grigg and Estelle Thomas, both of Blacksburg and Helen Grayson of Shelby; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Boone officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Albert Peterson, Michael Borders, Roger Batchler, Rodney Upchurch, Kenneth Fitzgerald and Kevin Grayson. Honorary pallbearers will be The Hardware Board Members.
The family will receive friends at the home.

GRACE LEE
RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Grace Craig Lee, 86, of 116 Hospital Drive, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at Boiling Springs Center, S.C.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Walter B. and Willie Stradley Craig. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton and was a registered nurse. She was a graduate of Rutherford Hospital School of Nursing, Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City, N.J., the University of North Carolina and Florida State University. She was former dean of the Gardner-Webb School of Nursing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Eugene Lee.
She is survived by a son, Eddie Lee of Inman, S.C.; two brothers, Garth Craig of Union Mills, S.C., and Paul Craig of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Helen Byrd of Shelby and Clara Lovelace of Union Mills; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Saturday, August 12, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. at Crowe Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Charles Nanney and Dean Baughn officiating. Burial followed at Rutherfordton City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Carolina, Spartanburg, S. C.

Teresa Rizkallah
SHELBY - Teresa Sisk Rizkallah, 40, 1830 Kemp Circle, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gaston County, she was a homemaker, waitress and cook and was a Baptist.
She is survived by her mother, Joyce Valerie Sisk Jones of Shelby; stepfather, Jeff Jones of Shelby; father, Doyle Broom; former husband, George Rizkallah of Shelby; two brothers, Tommy Duncan of Shelby and John Hawn of Greenville; a sister, Alicia Duncan of Lincolnton; a grandparent, Ila Lee Sisk of Gastonia; and 11 nieces and nephews.
The graveside service is private with Pastor Steven Akers officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cleveland Funeral Services, and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights, Shelby, N.C. 28150.

Thomas Walker
FOREST CITY - Mr. Thomas Philip Walker, 70, of 136 Knollwood Drive, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Hughes Hobson officiating. Interment will be private for the family in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the home tonight from 6:30 to 8:30.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Vangie King
SHELBY - Vangie Seagle King, 86, of 401 N. Morgan St., died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at White Oak Manor.
A native of Catawba County, she was born April 15, 1914. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Doshie Costner Seagle. She was retired from sales at Sears in Charlotte and a member of Carpenters Grove Baptist Church and the V.F.W.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Joleen King and Walter H. Davis; and five brothers, Odell Seagle, Owen Seagle, Leslie Seagle, Edwin Seagle and Iverson Seagle.
She is survived by a grandson and his spouse, Mark Patrick and Selena Short Davis of Shelby; a granddaughter and her spouse, Karen Davis and David Peterson of Roxboro; and two great-grandsons, Gray Peterson and Davis Peterson of Roxboro; two brothers, Joe Clyde Seagle of Icard, and Gene Seagle of Lawndale; two sisters, Corene Paysour of Conover, and Lou Ella Hoyle of Casar.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Carpenters Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Welch officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at the home of grandson Mark Davis, 1502 Lackey St., Shelby.

Thomas Dalton
HENDERSONVILLE - Mr. Thomas W. Dalton, 82, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at the Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House in Hendersonville.
A native of Henderson County, he was the son of the late James M. and Annie Bowman Dalton. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he received the Bronze Star Medal and the Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster for heroic achievements in Germany. He retired from the General Electric Co. in 1979 and was a member of Mills River United Methodist Church. He was active in Methodist Men, the Henderson County Democratic Party and a former Lions Club member.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Clay Dalton; four brothers, Robert Dalton, Fred Dalton, James Dalton and Joe Dalton; and four sisters, Edith Elingburg, Nora Davidson, Laura Garren and Kate Jarmen.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Greer Dalton of Shelby; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Jim Pressley of Maggie Valley; two sisters, Clara Evans of Asheville and Irene Miller of Hendersonville; and three grandchildren, Laurie and Michael Dalton of Shelby and Kayla Pressley of Maggie Valley.
A memorial service was held at Mills River United Methodist Church on Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jock Ollis officiating. Interment was private.
The family received friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Thomas Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors in Hendersonville.

Mafrey Sessom
SHELBY - Mrs. Mafrey R. Sessom, 74, 1918 Flint Hill Church Road, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Hospice at Wendover.
Born in Wake County on July 9, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ivey Richardson and Mattie Temple. She was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church, where she was involved in many church activities. She was a former Hospice volunteer and a housewife.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Sessom and 13 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Ed Sessom of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Ann Sessom of Salisbury; a granddaughter and spouse, Susan and Paul Jones III of Winston-Salem; and a great-grandson, Parker Jones of Winston-Salem.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Flint Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Dixon and W.C. Barham officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Interment will take place at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at the home.

Aileen Spurling
LAWNDALE - Mrs. Aileen Crotts Spurling, 63, of 310 St. Peter's Church Road, died Sunday, August 13, 2000, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born July 3, 1937, the daughter of the late Cleveland Lester and Pearl White Crotts. She was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church, where she was the pianist for over 40 years and a Sunday school teacher for 46 years. She was employed in child care.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Flay Crotts.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Donald Spurling of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Wanda Spurling of Lawndale; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Kevin Williams of Lawndale; a brother, Cleveland "Junior" Crotts Jr. of Connelly Springs; two sisters, Wilma Johnson of Shelby and Mildred Chapman of Connelly Springs; and six grandchildren, Angel Williams, Adam Williams, Alesha Williams, Amber Williams, Tyler Spurling and Makayela Spurling.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Olive Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Terrill Crump, Buren Hastings and Johnny Johnson officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the church.
