IRON STATION - Ms. Maggie B. Hall, 55, of 4101 E. Highway 27, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at Lincoln Medical Center.

June Houlditch
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. June Houlditch, of Woodbridge, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 30, 1919, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late J. Rowe and Irma Thomas Mehlfelt. Working at the Pentagon during World War II, she was secretary to the newly formed Joint Chiefs of Staff Intelligence Committee. She moved to Shelby in 1971 and helped form the Reach to Recovery program of the American Cancer Society. She was honored with the Terese Lasser and Sword of Hope Awards for her volunteer work for breast cancer survivors. She also received the Governor's Award and the Golden Rule Award for her volunteer efforts. She was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she served as a lay speaker, Sunday school teacher, Stephen Minister and board member.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Houlditch.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, George Sam III and Gina Houlditch of Gainesville, Ga., and Jim and Deborah Houlditch of Cleveland County; a daughter, Dorothy Houlditch of Cleveland County; and six grandchildren, Emily Houlditch, Perry Houlditch, Chris Houlditch, Jonathan Houlditch, Sarah Houlditch-Fair and Kaitlin Houlditch-Fair.
The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Dr. Dolores Queen officiating.
Entombment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family received friends Tuesday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

J. Wiley Blanton
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. James Wiley Blanton, 91, died Monday, August 21, 2000, at Hospice of Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ellen Lovelace Blanton. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Aquilla Bell Blanton, Jay Thornburg Steele Blanton and Lizzie Lovelace Watterson Blanton; a son, Harold Blanton; a grandson, Tim Blanton; three brothers, Colin Blanton, Edmund Blanton and Johnny Patterson; and a sister, Veola White.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, the Rev. Demauth and Beatrice Blanton of Union, S.C., Howard and Lois Blanton and Dixie Blanton, all of Kings Mountain; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Bill and Hazel Watterson of Kings Mountain; three stepdaughters and a son-in-law, Melba Boyles of Kings Mountain, Eloise Spiegelmeyer of Connecticut, and Judy and John Woody of Durham; a sister and brother-in-law, Dot and Fred Weaver of Kings Mountain; 17 grandchildren; and many great- grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 pm. at First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain with Dr. John Sloan and the Rev. Ron Caulder officiating.
Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.

LAWNDALE - Mr. David Hustler Cline Jr., 86, of 351 E. Main St., died Monday, August 21, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late David Hustler "Huss" Sr. and Ella Lutz Cline. He was a retired car salesman and a farmer. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard C. Cline; a brother, Marshall O. Cline, two sisters, Mildred C. Vaughn and Lillian Haney, a half-sister, Mary Annie Barberee, and a grandson, Ricky Cline.
He is survived by his wife, Merlyn Black Richards Cline of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Mary Sue Cline of Shelby and David H. III and Mary Cline of Elkin; a step daughter and step son-in-law, Janice and Harold Watts of Lawndale; a sister, Janie Wray of Shelby; eight grandchildren, Fred Cline II, Kelly Mootz, Melinda Burchette, David Cline IV, Jaquitha Edwards, Jeanna Cline, John Watts, and Jana Bridges; nine great-grandchildren, Alexis Mootz, Brooke Mootz, Mia Burchette, Summer Edwards, Chad Edwards, Justin Watts, Morgan Watts, Daniel Pruett and Maggie Pruett.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronell Owensby officiating. Burial will follow at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetary.

Ethel Peterson
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Ethel Noblitt Peterson, 86, of 810 Rhodes Ave., died Saturday, August 19, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Maggie Kiser Noblitt. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.A. "Pete" Peterson; a daughter, Mary Helen Peterson; and two brothers, Russ Noblitt and Floyd Noblitt.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Bert Smith of Spring, Texas; loved like a son, Charlie Noblitt and his wife Catherine of Asheville; a brother, Gene Noblitt of Newton; four nieces, Mildred Russell of Kings Mountain, Margaret Sigmon of Stanley, Geneva Hunter and Joann Barringer, both of Bessemer City; a nephew, Bob Noblitt of Bessemer City; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brenda and Steve Koinis of Spring, Brad and Cara Smith of Louisville, Ky., Rebekah and Michael Nanfria of Chicago, Caroline and Colin Ackinson of Efland and Suzane and Leslie Buesing of Hillsborough; and five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tony, Taylor, Madeline and Kate.
The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dale Swofford officiating.
A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery.

Charlie Parker
ELLENBORO - Mr. Charlie Allen Parker, 78, of 242 N. Glenn St., died Tuesday, August 22, 2000, at Autumn Care of Forest City.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Rose Tessenear Parker. He was a retired textile worker and an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Pleasant Parker of the home; three sons, Paul Parker of Spindale, Ivy Parker of Mooresboro and Jessie Parker; two brothers, Bynum Parker of Caroleen and E.W. Parker of Shelby; one sister, Lillian Cornwell of Lake Norman; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home with the Rev. J.M. Ezell officiating. Burial will follow at Rehobeth United Methodist Church Cemetery.

SHELBY - Mr. Robert Clint Webb Sr., 74, of 2536 S. Lafayette St., died Monday, August 21, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Garland G. Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Ledbetter Webb. He retired from Fiber Industries in 1982 and was the owner of Webb Landscaping. He was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Thelma Webb and three brothers, Hugh Webb, Garland Gordon Webb Jr. and Paul Joseph Webb.
He is survived by his wife, Onell Wehunt Webb of the home, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. Jr. and Vernice Webb of Shelby; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Skip Pinkerton and Dale and Kenneth Harrison, all of Shelby; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Carl E. and Hazel Webb of Cherryville and Eugene Webb of Gaffney, S.C.; three sisters and a two brothers-in-law, Ader and Roy Wood of Spartanburg, S.C., Margaret Crowder of Blacksburg, S.C., and Martha and Avery Moore of Gaffney; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Bea Webb of Spartanburg, Earlene McArthur and her husband, John, of Randleman and Bill Wehunt and his wife, Edith, of Pleasant Gardens; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Leonard Harrison and his wife, Dawn, Kenneth Harrison and his wife, Loretta, Brian Pinkerton and his wife, Stephanie, and Jodi Pinkerton and Brandon Webb all of Shelby, Sheelagh Santoro and her husband, David, of Germany and Crystal Pinkerton of Charlotte; four great-grandchildren, Laura Harrison, Devon Harrison, Alaila Marie Pinkerton, and Zackery Pinkerton, all of Shelby; and many nieces and nephews.

SHELBY - Mr. James P. Peterson, 81, of 2004 Pleasant Hill Church Road, died Tuesday, August 22, 2000, at Hospice of Cleveland County.
A native of Cherokee County, S.C., he was the son of the late James Robert and Susan Matilda Wilson Peterson. He was retired from Minette Mill and Kings Mountain Police Department and City Hall. He was a Baptist and served in the Army during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Jesse Peterson, David Peterson, Olin Peterson, Coleman Peterson, Rochelle Peterson and the Rev. Clyde Peterson, and one sister, Pearl Bolton.
He is survived by his wife, Pearline White Peterson of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Jenny Peterson of Shelby; a grandson, Tyler James Peterson of Shelby; a brother, Theo Peterson of San Diego, Calif.; and a sister, Ruth Owens of Gaffney, S.C.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Davis officiating.

SHELBY - Mrs. Frances Lunet Walker, 83, of 2070 McBrayer Springs Road, died Wednesday, August 23, 2000, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late William and Edith McCraw Mintz. She was a homemaker and a volunteer at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. She was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Walker Jr.; three brothers, Billy Mintz, Rush "Shull" Mintz and Fred Mintz; a sister, Eloise Martin; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Bre-Ann Bowman.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Max and Gail Walker of Shelby and Eddie and Betty Walker of Cherryville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Bill Mayes and Linda and Ray Bell, all of Shelby; two sisters, Ernestine Toney of Ellenboro and Betty Carolyn Funderburke of Charlotte; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
